BSW [Mindspace] Updates -catdragons hatched

Post by DNS »

The one board for all three agencies was driving me up a wall, so i made myself a new update board. or am making it, for all three agencies. with up to date info on hatchings, deadlines, etc.

**Something I want to be known, as a disclaimer sort of thing:**
My art, the opinions I have for my art, and my opinions of other people's art are very very seperate things.
My opinion of my art and stories are that they're crap. I have a set of very strict and rigid personal standards for myself, and both fail to meet my personal standards. In addition, they do not convey what I want them to convey with perfection, and thus, I see it as a failing.
This does not mean I do not try in my own art. Actually, I try twice as hard, becuase I'm striving for those personal goals, and becuase these dragons do not belong to me. I make them with the thought that they are going to other people, and while I don't give a crap about things I do for me, I do want them to please if I'm giving htem to someone else. So even if i don't like how they look in the end, I still do TRY, really really hard, on both art and stories. There is a difference between not trying, and not giving a crap about your own artwork.
My opinion of other people's artwork tends to be good. I appreciate and respect what they've done and what they've done well. I do everything I can to learn from them, what works and what doesn;t. Just becuase I don't care what happens to my own art, if people modify it, steal it, whatever, that does not, under ANY circumstances, mean that I'm about to apply the same lack of morals to the art I recieve. I revere the art and hte dragons I recieve. I love them as much as I love my characters, which is more than i show.
I love hte characters people submit to me. I'm honoured that people submit them at all, for what I don't believe deserves that much work, and I get insanely gleeful whenver someone sends me a candidate. I get triple-y as gleefull whenever I see a dragon I drew in a story, or even just on another page. I don't enforce deadlines becuase I forget about them, but that doesn't mean I don't love and don't want to see the dragons I give out used.

That's all. I've just been told that my perceptions have been bleeding into how people take my art, and that is very very far from what I want. My opinions and the products of what I do are very very seperate things, and I work hard to maintain that seperation.

That's all. No comments on it, please.

How this works
Three boards for all three agencies.
Each board holds info on flights, hatchings, deadlines, etc at each of the three agencies. Or on clutches being held in subworlds of those agencies-- i.e, a clutch being held in Cretus, but on the Akhet pages. or even somewhere that isn't the main jousting compound of Akhet.
Hatching info will include links to the main board for each clutch and preview images.

:3 got a winner announced for Yalde'rer's flight-- that shapeshifting raugie that Shard sent in. :3
Berylth's flight also has a winner--- but i'm keeping that a secret at least ofr the rest of today, becuase shadow's writing a flight story. :o i'll announce it later to day, flight story or not-- i can't stand suspense.
>.>

And this means i've got three clutches lined up in two of my agencies, with one more on the way after that. I need to talk to kenda again about picking a flight winner. :3
I'm going to start getting those together now, and they'll officially open after my massive VC clutch goes through---- but you can always send candidates early, if you are so inspired. :D

Also- note on yalde'rer. her babies will shapeshif between two forms, duowing and featherwing, but this means i'm going to either need an animation program, or will be giving out two sets of images. so. yeah. anyone know any good animation software? [though, as colourful as they are, they might just have to be two images anyway-- png's can't be animated.]

I can help you with the animation if you wish - and yeah PNGs can be animated, I just don't know how exactly to do it with the program I have. The ones coming from Pauskama's kids - those beautiful colorshifters with the peacock coloration - those are pngs I believe.

Wahoo :) My shaper boy will get to be insufferable about this!

Now if only I could figure out if it's before or after the fur festival, on their world...

-ndonod- i was thinking that, but i don't remember it, and in anycase i don't think all browsers register automatic pngs, and there's like.. two different types? That said, if anyone can find out how to do it, i'm willing to screw browser complications over for the sake of pretties. :3 what program are you using?

and squee! :3 mindspace is outside of time, so those entering and exiting it can emerge at whatever time they want. it depends on what they want/think at the time. [just like rooms are infinite and you can spend an hour walking and never get to the door, unless you /want/ to get to teh door]/ confusing liek that. so whatever works best with your storyline works for mindspace. :3

No, Pauskema's lot were all .gifs. Really, really, REALLY big gifs. XD People are *trying* to develop an animated .png format, but as far as I'm aware, nothing's been widely recognized/tested/made available yet.

-nodnod- that's what i thought. -sighs- if only they would, it takes so much trouble~!

the problem with me and gifs are that a- my computer doesn't like them (but this might've changed since i whiped the OS), b- I'm not particuloarly fond of them, c- I'd loose colour information, and d- no matter what i try, i always get a white pixil halo with gifs. ._.

that said, i could send someone the sets of PNGS, and they could do the colour transffering and animating. Would anyone be /willing/ to do that? /have the time?

i'll give you an extra dragon for your efforts, if only becuase i feel bad for asking a favor without a reward or sommat.

Were they? Okay what about the biolumclops set? >.> I could have sworn that there was one that was png animated. Huh, nope he's a gif too.... Weirdness.

Myself I didn't mind just having two images for my boy, they're so distinct anyway.

-ndonod- XP they are very distinct, I'm staring between them right niow trying to discern if there's a pattern between the shapeshift or if it's just totally random. XP like. what colours and patterns go to where.

These are going to be some insanely confusing babies. :3

then again, it may only be the colours that change between them. >> which would b easier to animate.

How about putting them on a dark background before animating them? :3 That way you don't get the halo. If you plan ahead, you may be able to steal the background of whichever page the dragon is going to end up on so that it blends more nicely; or you could put a border around the image so that it's framed? Those would both take away the haloes and allow you to get a smooth-looking animation.

ha, i thought i replied to that. :3 that's a really good idea, dray-- i might do that. Maybe with a little background, or something, that fits the image. Or maybe i'll just ask people for the bg's of the pages they're gonna put'm on beforehand, or something. XP
Thanks for that suggestion! ^^

General Update- Berylth's flight is officially flown, and the winner has been announced! AND there's a story. :D go shadow.

X3 No no. The character is based loosely off of a Star Trek one, but I didn't have enough time to really get into anybody's characters, pre-hatching. I can see how he'd attract a blue, but in his case I was thinking of dragons as uniform colours! It amuses me!

*snerk* When I saw the name 'Rikard;, I immediately thought of 'Riker' and 'Picard' mixed before you posted this part. >.> *amused*

I am in the midst of working on Farisanth's page (http://www.geocities.com/charries93//farisanth.html) and I have a couple of possibly stupid questions to ask you. Hopefully you don't mind. ^ ^;

Do these draggies have any abilities?
And do you happen to know any more of the Blood Court pedigree, besides just the parents? **puppy eyes**

I <3 Farisanth so much by the way... THANKIES!

Ah, you caught me.

I actually have no idea what the abilities are. I'm assuming there's your standard telepathy/teleportation. ACtually, almost certain, but then, from conflicting sources, I've heard that each court has it's own brand of magic associated with it. I dunno anything about /that/, and not for lack of trying.

as for parentage, once again, I don't really know. :3 I do know, or rather, I'm fairly certain that both parents came from the big massive last VC clutch ever, which also makes them technically related. The records of that are somewhere around here.. dunno where though.

sorry. ^^;

Nessie, do those markings pass on? The glowing ones? Or are they kind of like lumiwire in that they're decorative only?

-grins madly- They pass on. :3 In fact, most mindspace things like that will pass on, unless otherwise stated.. cuz it's fun to screw with things. :D

is that a bad thing? :3

if you got glowy markings and don't want them to pass on, that's cool. just say the gene modification was partially screwed up.
