Now, lest everyone get all distracted by notions of anti-Balespawn clutches, here's the remind that the ACTUAL Balespawn clutch closes this Saturday! X3 Just a handful of days left to grab one if you want a nasty demi-god to harass your stories!

I'd love one but I need to know whether my plotthings I PMed you about are acceptable before I can write a candidate (I was thinking about sending the ever-loveable interrigator Bill the Torture Guy). But it might not matter because I'm not sure I'll have time to write anyway. Hmm. Poor Bill might have to wait for cool evil doom draggies.

Aw crap. Now that you've reminded me, I remember getting that PM, but it's not in my Inbox anymore and the details of it escape me. >_o; I don't think there was anything about it that screamed "omg don't do that!", otherwise I would've responded immediately rather than get distracted away from it...I think.

If it's still in your Sent folder, could you re-send it to me so I can be sure?

Hmmm, I was going to stay far away from this group, since I have the hardest time writing anything even remotely evil, but after all the ... controversy (may be the right word XD)... I think I may try after all XD

I have an idea... I just hope I can get it to work out in time!

All right I re-sent the pm. Long story short: Petasati was born at AD. (well you know that). Her rider dies but her essence survives in the form of a Weird Clone Thing. Weird Clone Thing has all of Zia's memories but the bond has been severed because the "real" Zia is dead. Petasati gets captured by EVIL PEOPLE who want to isolate the Asandus shifting gene and use it for EVIL. She's not abused, because they want her in good condition, but she is poked and prodded with needles a lot. And also they're EVIL. Zialana's Weird Clone Thing teams up with a random Pernese whose rider also died, but he decided not to between himself because he's COOL like that, and he's also in love with Petasati ... but shhh ... and then they try to go rescue Petasati. But OH NOES! Someone on the EVIL ship has AN EVIL TF DRAGON! AAAH!!! I'm considering Balespawn for this but I'm not sure if I should wait for the next clutch or that as I'm not sure I want to open that can of worms (and yet at the same time it would be fun...).

Problem is that I want Craith to eventually have to confront whatever it is. Craith is not only Pernese but also something of a wimp let's admit. How he could POSSIBLY beat a balespawn in battle is completely baffling to me though if he managed it that would be one hell of a cool story. Makes me almost wish that Nessie DID end up making her "all mindspace creatures are immune" rule. The other problem is that in the epic battle somebody's probably going to end up getting killed. If a balespawn was kept alive it wouldnt be a real victory but if it was a slightly less evil being then i could just say "No. Naughty dragon. No more corrupting for you" and shove it under the rug. I hate to kill off dragons that other people gave me, hence why Craith and Petasati are still around whereas their riders are not. Plus Balespawn are way too cool looking to make die. But the potentials for the ensuing war between good and bad dragons (IN SPACE) would be sooo cool. Maybe the balespawn can just go to another dimension at the end. Yes that would work. Anyway I'm rambling. Crap. This was supposed to be *shorter* than the PM.

Which leads me to the other problem -- how would they manage to go bond a balespawn with Ms. Promontores being held on their ship without compromising /her/ safety? And she must be kept safe. She's useful, after all.

And now I have to go.

I love your descriptions, Astra. X3 Also, Petasti's bond died!? :O WHEN?!

I'm not imagining a balespawn in a plastic-y chamber of anti-corruption, much like Magneto in his little isolation-island. That would... be kind of cool. X33

Only if its bond has a Mystique-esque ability to sneak in corruption-enhancing materials through via the physical person of one of the guards! :O

-thinks- hohum.

Even if i had put that one up there, I dun think poor craith would be immune to it-- he came from mindspace, btu his parents were pernese and mostly-pernese, and neither of them lived in mindspace. Thje level of magical warping that comes with immunity would have to be huge~

:3 However, i can work something out with you, if phe would allow it? [or do we have to notify you if something is gonna be more powerful then the balespawns, like myr did..?]
If it's cool, there's beings on mindspace you could potentially cut a deal with in your story, if you like. Powerful godspirits and the ethereals, which are like the godspirits, but much creepier and usually with less morals. :3 the really big, well known godspirits might be able to help your guys out, but you'd have trouble convincing them, beucase they don't like to get directly involved on a large scale. You could also cut a deal with one of the ethereals, which would be easier, but would come at a high price, and likely be painful.

gwee. just thoughts. :3 and i'm only offering cuz craith comes from mindspace. <3 we loves him muchly.

Hmm, I ought to upload my second Balespawn candidate tonight/tomorrow. ^^; And finish my 'extra' comic for both that I've been working on. ^_~
Database Being Revamped

'Epic' is most concisely defined as something that, were you to do it in view of a person in real life, they'd pretty much have to sleep with you immediately to maintain order in the universe.
I sneezed. It seems to have reshaped reality. My bad.

Heh...well I did really want one but I don't have time to get anyone in. I was going to set up a whole new evil agency but I have five right now and I don't even have them all up to date.

And here I really wanted to start a war on Anar...

Guess the Anarian people and dragons are spared............

for now....

Good luck to the rest of you...I think.

Aaaall right, I sent in my candidate, Kassoria the Guardian have mercy on his poor warped soul.

Question.

I was looking back at earlier posts and Myrror mentioned that it might be possible for someone who was immune to radiation and such to be also immune to balefire. Certain types of Drighan Shifters (the "space" ones, sun, moon, etc) are capable of existing in outer space and are not only immune to radiation but also have the ability to counteract it. Spacewyrms, yet another subset of the Gecnawans that I have not yet released upon the nexus, have a similar ability. But Sun and Moon Drighan have high magical resistence as well as immunity to radiation, so would it be possible that they might be immune to balefire? Only while in their dragon forms of course. As a human they would be as susceptible as anyone. This isn't particularly important right now but it might become important later. I don't want my prized Drighans getting mutated-ified :P

Also, how does balefire affect the bond of the balespawn in question? One would think that being bonded they would often be in close proximity. Let me know.

Oh! And last but not least. How would the corruptive influence of a balespawn effect someone who is already twisted/corrupt/evil/bad? It is not mentioned in the pre-bonding story but Bill desires to get revenge against a fellow torturer who abused him as a child. It's not so much a battle of good vs evil so much as one sadistic insane whack job fighting another :P The confrontation will probably end in a draw as I have other plans for both Bill and his adversary. Because believe it or not there are people out there who hate him even more than Bill does. But I digress.

I believe so, but that would only be to the balefire. To the corruption powers is an entirely different matter.
Also, how does balefire affect the bond of the balespawn in question? One would think that being bonded they would often be in close proximity. Let me know.
Being bonded provides no immunity. Just don't touch the balefire. It's *touching* the fire (or being touched by it), not proximity to it, that causes mutation.

I don't know. :) I give each Balespawn its own personality, but it's up to the adopter to decide how it actually affects the story and candidate.

psh... I sent mine at 4am (my time. 5am by the clock on TF's page...) Yours is probably still coherent.
If you catch me on AIM (thecrazytiger) please send me a quick note and remind me your name on there. It has been so long since I used that chat medium, I'm staring blankly at my list and not knowing who's actually there. >.<

Phe, in regards to the corruption magic (Not the effects of the balefire itself) is holy magic something that could counter this, in enough quantity? When I think 'corruption', in my mind the anti is 'purification' which often comes part and parcel with holy-style magics.

In addition, what would 'generic' defensive Majyck (the stuff that comes out of Drakiera's realm) be able to do to combat a balespawn's conscious powers? Offensive Majyck? I suppose that I could sit around and ask what effect each individual ability has against said powers... but for now I'll just ask about those. X3

Key word being "in enough quantity". Purity is the opposite of corruption, but these guys are so strong it takes some strong pureness for it to not be corrupted, itself.

For example:

Myrror's Supernals. The ones that are all white are called Pure and have an ability called Purity, which "can purify an area up to half a mile around them. Evil things caught in this wave will either be purified or destroyed."

Asking Myrror what this would do to Balespawn, she responded it would only hurt them. It would take a old and powerful Pure and Favored (by their god, the High One) to kill a Balespawn with that ability, which is purity incarnate.

However, a Pure who is trained in it can condense the "wave" of purity around themselves as a shield to protect themselves from being corrupted.

So yes, powerful purity can protect one against the corruption, and even more powerful purity can hurt them. Anybody have any purity demi-gods? XD

The corruption Balespawn do isn't magic, though. It's an innate ability. (Compare a fire mage to X-Men's Pyro.)
I'm afraid I don't know how Drakiera's Majyck works. If it's just fancy-named magic, it can still be corrupted. O.o If it's different, please enlighten me!

And judging the flood in my inbox that started yesterday, people are already aware that today's the deadline for the Balespawn. XD Only 'bout eight hours to go!

XD the likelihood of me getting my hands on even a weak-white Supernal is even less than if I were to get killed by a toilet-seat falling from outer space, so I suppose I'm out of luck on that front.

Thanks for the info, though. I appreciate it.

Like in Dead Like Me? Hee.

I'd like to make some anti-balespawn demigods but the problem is my universe has no gods in it. Religion, and plenty of it, but having actual gods show up and manifest themselves and breed doesn't seem to be the best idea. Fraw. I'd like to think that one of the more powerful Drighans would be able to but I doubt that would work. There's got to be something the poor defenseless creatures of my universe can do, though. I decided to adopt a balespawn because I want to give the people of Draco Prime a challenge, but in the words of Lisa Simpson, "I wanted a challenge I could do!" ;)

XDDD It's just a flesh wound! ::has that on a shirt::

And I am quite impressed. 10 has come and gone so the Balespawn clutch is closed, but the "last-minute rush" was yesterday instead of today! X3 I'm quite amused. And what a batch! And so much entertaining use of my Seekers. :D :D :D And now, to story....
