Here we go! These guys are site censors. They let people know what kind of content we have in the Nexus before they set their nubile little five year old to browsing. I think they're cute. And they're even adoptable!

Do you guys want to run this like we did the logo contest? Everyone submits a censor template, then we vote on which one we want. Or possibly we could offer them all and just use the voted one as our "offical" censor.

I don't really care. I wasn't here for the logo contest. Whichever way is best.

I like how there are 3 different kinds on the panda-cute site, and I think a lot of us work best with different sizes or shapes of items. I'd like to have one set that we vote on, but I would think that having a similar 'style' with our own images would suit everyone too. An 'official, for use if you don't want to make your own' set, to vote on, in other words, but not stopping anyone from making similar ones.

I would also like to point out that it does surprise me that she's still 'getting away' with the RIAA's 'version' of ratings. They've literally sued companies for the same thing, because it's 'their' rating system (hence why there are different rating systems for movies, electronic games, and comics).

I'd put a vote in for:

All Ages (good for everything, "g" but not 'goodie two shoes')
Younger Viewers (best suits classic "g" rating)
Teen Viewers (some violence, perhaps a swear word but nothing serious "pg/pg13")
Young Adults (violence, sensible realism in language and situations "r")
Adult (language/violence and sexual situations portrayed realistically - a "hard r")
Mature (over the top for any reason "nc")
Unrated

Also feel free to adapt my "naughty bits" and other buttons - it was just something I came up with to simplify the way I looked at the Naughty dragons, because THEY have ratings lol. "Naughty Bits"(nudity) "Bad Words" "Gender Issues"(glbt/identity) "Violence" and "PR0N" are all touchy... but not every story has everything.

Huh.... I didn't even know about that. Good thing you pointed it out. Yeah, our own rating system would be good too.

It's a good idea to warn people I don't see why we need our own system however.

Nifty idea!

Instead of a contest (or maybe a contest for people who wanna participate), Perhaps we could make things more unified by offering guidelines for how large each one should be? Like... 100x35, 100x100, whatever, with a black background and white letters, so that whatever the person makes, it'll be easily recognizeable between sites?

X3 It's a nifty idea, though.

I wasn't aware of the fact that that rating system was owned. :/ eh. I know a number of fanfic sites that use the ratings too, but they're all non-profit, so sueing would be unproductive? that, or they just haven't noticed yet.

Maybe we should specify ages-- albiet, not the same ones? like, the ratings baove, but with numbers. ^^ But then again, maturity is relative... X.x All it would do would give people a context, i guess, since, like astra said, "young adult" has a lot of different ages asscoaited with it, as do others.

First of all I think that is bullsh*t that you can claim a rating system.

Second I like Shard's but I'd really just feel more comfortable with Mature Teen instead of Young Adult -- I know that's me being anal, but I think of things like Animorphs and Goosebumps when I think of Young Adult, and that's just really misleading as a rating higher than teen ... we'd get like 10 year olds coming and thinking young adult was acceptable and then seeing the naughty-bits, and it could just be ... messy. *whistles*

Tru dat.
-snorts at the thought of animorphs- oh, that series makes me so nostalgic. >.>

It is bullshit, though. :/ eh, it's like people claiming poses and the concept of brightly coloured huskies as a general whole. But people do that. -.- and that's the sad bit.

It's MPAA, not RIAA my mistake (though they're essentially the same people) and here's their wiki on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPAA_film_rating_system

:)

I totally agree: naughty bits are only naughty if you think they don't 'belong' to a nice society. Since we're not nice... lol.

Have I ever mentioned that I am scarred for life since viewing some topics on these forums?

XD Nevertheless, I like the rating system. Keep it up.

You know, you're right. When I was little I thought 'PG' meant 'Pretty Good'. This would clear those kinds of misconceptions right up. XD
