Rashas and dragonets, oh my!

Post by Skysong »

Hey Nexus, long time no see :O Lately I've been doing a lot of adoption stuff on PonyIsland, with templated gryphons. I've been having a lot of fun with the templates, recoloring and adding edits and such.. and that has inspired me to bring back another templated adoptable - Rashas!

So what are Rashas? They are intelligent dragons, large enough to hold a human passenger, and able to telepathically bond with their rider at hatching. The bonding is not necessary for their survival, and a Rasha can live quite happily unbonded. Though Rashas cannot speak aloud, they are able to telepathically project their thoughts onto anyone nearby, and the telepathic communication works both ways if the Rasha is bonded to someone.

This project will span several forums, including PonyIsland and my personal adoption forum. I'm probably going to be looking for assistants eventually, but that won't be for some time yet X3 Each forum will host a different Dragonfarm, each with unique dragon images and colors. In time, the different Dragonfarms will be able to come together for events, such as racing and mock-battles.. or even real battles, if rivalries spring up. Dragonfarms guard their breeding and raising secrets jealously, and every so often they do battle each other.

As an adoptable, Rashas will be breedable. At first, breeding will only take place within the individual Dragonfarms, but in time, allies may send their Rashas to each other to interbreed. Such things are very rare, but not entirely unheard of.

More information will be coming once the website is up and running!

I'm still working on the Dragonfarm and Rasha style for the Nexus.. but here's an example of a colored Jalanak Rasha, from the Dragonfarm on PonyIsland!

Here's also an example of another Rasha lineart, and a sketch that I'm still working on:

Dragonets will also be going along with the Rashas! Dunno if anyone remembers the little giveaway I had of them not too long ago X3 The dragonets are pet-dragons that come in several different species, and here's an example of some recent Kreenasa dragonet lineart:

So I guess, in summary, I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I'm wondering if there's any interest here at the Nexus XD; I know my Rashas are rather plain compared to many of the lovely dragons here nowadays.. but I still think they're cool X3; Any feedback or comments would be much appreciated!

(and I haven't forgetten about the Sa'enkeyn thing, it's just kind of.. yeah >_> I'm working on it!)

:O Rashas are back?! *stalks*

Also, I saw those dragonets in your LJ and squealed over them. I like the long, Oriental style one best.

XD I remember drooling over those and wishing that Mystic had gotten one of your Pernese dragons. That was the first place I applied with her!

@Shadow - I'm getting the feeling most people are overloaded at the moment, judging from the lack of response XD Oh well!

@Mystic - Oh really? Cool! XD I still have the old lineart for that somewhere.. maybe I should do a nostalgia clutch someday or something.

I'm very interested. I do pony island but I've discovered that I don't really want to use that aspect of my time to collect many cyberpets. So I'll stick in here and I think it'll be fun to see what all happens with em.

'Course I'm interested, myself. Though, though I do like the rashas, I want the dragonets more, I'll admit it XD Such cool variety!

Hmm, I was actually hesitant about pitching the whole Rasha thing here because I know this place already has tons of adoptables, and that everyone already has a lot on their plate, and that Rashas are fairly plain compared to a lot of the dragons here (and the dragonets). Unfortunately I don't want to fancy them up too much to 'compete' because I like them for what they are, which is.. plain XD;

Since there is a bit of interest, right now I'm still leaning towards the plan to set up a Nexus-based Dragonfarm, with Nexus-only lineart and colors and all that. However, if people feel that would be too much on top of what is already here, I could just set up a dragonet breeding place instead X3 There will be at least three other forums through with Rashas will be available - PonyIsland, the Orchard, and my personal adoption forum - so Rashas would still be available to anyone who wanted one.

Thoughts? >_>

-wriggles- What would the breeding restrictions on the rashas be? would they be able to freely breed with the nexus dragons, or nay?

;-; I'd miss the rashas if they weren't here, but I'd live. Like you said, there's lots of things here already. XP So I guess i'd just wriggle in envy at those who get them; the other forums aren't really to my liking, from what i've seen.
>.> I'm odd. -pets nexus- My one true adoptable-creature-forum-thing love~

Would you put out info on the rashas even if you didn't make a dragonfarm for them on nexus? I'm cuuurious.

>.> I'm with Shard. The powers/fancy genes don't interest me so much as the prestiege of having a Rasha. They were one of those breeds that was wistfully remember when the Nexus first started. Right up there with Geperna and Beach Shard Weyr (was it Beach Shard? Where did Jeremoth come from?) dragons.

And I would be all for a nostalgia clutch! We kinda started one with the first dragon frenzy. *pokes Shard* Don't know what's happening with that though.

Well, I'm on your personal adoption board myself, so I suppose I don't particularly care whether you put them in both places? >.> But I can think of plot uses for rashas, plain or not, what with that plot on Kartyn I wanna figure out XD And plain isn't so bad, really, if the artist is good, the colors are appealing, and the personality is interesting, ya know? ^^

It was Seascape, and Hydee's given me at least partial permission to use those images... :) I did that one shaded version for the victory dance but hadn't heard from her before you needed the images, so I used mine instead.

I like the plainness of some images, because it makes for more personality. Don't get me wrong, I like the doodah mutts, but after a while it's pretty much what every dragon's gonna wind up looking like with spangles and spikes and stuff. I like the idea of getting back to basics.

Rashas are plain? ^^; I think they're lovely... :3

Unfortunately, I personally would not be able to partake if you left them off the Nexus, just like with your LJ pets. It's simply too much for me, personally, to try to keep up with. x.x;

However, they are your critters, and as you have three Farms for them already, I don't think it's fair for you to put up yet another place for them unless you were really gung-ho about it. @.x But hey, not everyone is as chaotic in their lives as I am, and so maybe you can handle that with ease? I mean, it would be easy enough story-wise to explain, like satellite campuses for colleges, or franchise chains.

I'm rambling. But... I would love to see these guys around the Nexus if you decide to do so, and it looks like everyone else would too. ^^

Also it's great to see you around again. I love seeing all your critters. :3

Rasha pretty. *g* I love that they are plain - plain is special in its own way because it is what makes the 'special' dragons special? Gah, that doesn't make much sense does it? Either way, I like them!

quoi? I don't think they're plain at all. If anything I am sad that a lot of dragons today are so unusual that they don't even look like dragons -- though don't get me wrong, I love those too, sometimes it's good to get back to basics. But more to the point -- want. Still. Bwa.
