Dasma & Valentines Frenzy Updates...-new pictures, look!

All right, I know I haven't been around... I've been busy. Part of what I've been doing is redoing the Dasma templates, and planning a move to yet another planet, so totally not-Pern that it really is. The move ought to happen sometime this summer, after I finish coloring all of the valentines babies... yeah.

The new baby template, in all five of the new-world colors:

Tan (female):

Copper (male):

Cream (male):

Cobalt (male):

Teal (female):

C&Cs would be appreciated...

And, just so you all, know, I'm not moving just because I want to, okay. I'm not going to say any more than that. But I'm not all that excited about switching to a new world, so no, 'Oh, Samb, that's so cool', okay? Please.

J'aime your siggies, and the babies are adorable. The only thing is for the cobalt and the teal, the ears looked a little akward, but only because it took me a moment to see what htey were. Probably a contrast between the inner ear and the outter. ^^ Otherwise, they're adorable, especially those ickle headknobs. ^^

They're adorable! It's been so long since we've had real 'sized' dragons, too. Any chance of finding out why you're moving, or was that between you and someone else here that you don't really wanna blurt out?

My Dasmas have always been 'sized'... 0.0 I've been gone a month or so, not years!

As for why I've found it necessary to move... I like it here, and I really, really want to stay, but the topic of merchandising keeps coming up.... seemed like this was the only way to keep my 'in'... *sigh* I love Pern, but I don't want to be expelled from the community.

Has anyone else noticed that the quote tags aren't working?

Yeah, quote tags aren't working unless you use the generic quotes, for some reason.

o.O I don't suspect that merchandizing would begin to happen for quite some time, if it goes through. There really are too many kinks to work something like that out right away.

I'm afraid that it will happen eventually, though, and that's a risk I just can't take. Admittedly, when It does come, I'll be among those staging a hunger strike on the fron steps of the Nexus, but I don't think it'll do much good. Can't stop progress...

Wow, I didn't know that you were against the thought of it so much! O.O' I'm sure that something can get worked out, though... I know I'd rather see people stay in the community then have them leave just so that we can sell Nexus mugs or whatever. XD

Well, I've been having trouble expressing my opnions... burloody filter won't let me post on the thread where It was last discussed. But yeah, I am against it that much. I know we should help Dev pay for hosting, and I'm willing to donate as soon as I get my own PayPal *soon, I hope), but I feel that selling this sort of thing destroys it. It's like... well, not like anyone's read this book but me, but it's good... Elsewhere, Will Shetterly. There's this place in the book... Castle Pup... it's kind of a home for strays, awesome place. Authentic, like.

And then they decide to turn it into a nightclub. It doesn't actually get that far, but the community falls apart, the soul of the place is lost, and Castle Pup is burned down. So.... yeah. If uou've read it, you'll get my feelings on it, if you haven't go read it. I'm not articulate enough to explain better.

To be honest, I don't think the merchandizing thing will ever actually happen-- and if it does, it'll be years away. It was a brief fit of "omg wouldn't this be cool??" that seemed to me to be more talk than actual intention. There are so many problems with the idea that it'd be next to impossible to implement, anyway. I wouldn't be too concerned, Samber.

You're not actually on "teh pern" really, like any of us are.

Besides, for the merchandising ideas, we were thinking more along the lines of 'what someone wants to donate' and not 'donate everything you make!'

We can't merchandise pern - we're not allowed.

So don't think you need to move off, officially or to another location because of that. That's not really what I'd consider an 'issue' for the Nexus. *hugs*

But I was on a Pern-offshoot world, a parallel Pern... sort of in the same way that the early Talent 'verse is 1990's Earth. Close enough that if you went far enough back in Pernsey history, you'd find the same EEC team, the same colony leaders, the same major families... it's just that, 1, there are different colors of dragons, and 2, Threadfall didn't start until 200 yrs later rather than 8. That's it--other than that, it's all Pern, with one or two major twists.

McCaffery? -scoffs- she shits bricks all the time. She only recently allowed public roleplaying and fanfictions. before they could onyl come from preapproved zines, which had to be like teh ubercanons omgomg. The only exception was this one oddessy weyr, which was TECHINICALLY canon, but only technically. >.> So she'd probably throw a fuss, but there's nothing legally she can do about it. You aren't in pern anymore, so. >.> woof.

Mmm... I still dunno. Just because my draggies may have the hitherto unknown ability to send an author into an apopleptic fit, doesn't mean they can be exchanged legally for real-world money and stuff. And I'm still really uncomfortable with the idea of making money off this all... I mean, example: Pony Island, adoptables area. Very fun, yes, but you also get a lot of art thieves etc... seriously uncool. Rather not have to deal with it, ya know? *shrug* Maybe I'll think about it a bit more, but I'm almost absolutely certain that the move is needed.

So do I. She shut down the Kshau Protectorate site for a number of months on the bad advice of her son Alec. That's part of why we're here "off" pern to begin with, this was years ago.

XD Hun, the merchandizing thing won't happen unless one of us gets very rich, very fast. And gets good managment skills. And even then, I think the first priority any of us would have would be to get the Nexus together. You needn't worry about stuff being sold.

They live in a mirrorpern world, but not in pern. Mindspace is too random to have pern.

and speaking of which, i have to describe my weyr and the damn acadamy. urfff.
