Advice

Post by Cy »

So, I've hit a small problem. My .1 ink pen and my smallest micron pen have vanished. All I have are my .3, .5, .7 and thin sharpie. But some of the images I need to ink have very small details, and I'm positive that my larger pens will totally screw them up. Any advice on how I can get them from the paper to computer o.O Scanning them as they are would leave me with a lot of stuff to clean up... not that I mind, but it'd be quicker to ink them then scan them XD

Do you have anything you can use to ink them on another piece of paper? Like a light box or something that you can use to shine the light under the drawing and trace using another piece of paper? At least that way, if you mess up with the thicker pens, it won't ruin the entire picture.

Nope, I don't have anything of the sort. What the problem with the thicker lines is I can't get the smaller details. A lightbox wouldn't help there =/ I'm two of the images I'm working on have two really small creatures, to help visualise the difference between the sizes. A thicker line would render them... blobs o.O

Try scanning in the sketch, then inking it on the computer? It's pretty time-consuming (especially if you're doing it by mouse, like I've gotta!) but it's do-able! Just do the inks on a new layer and then trash the scanned sketch afterwards! You have all the line-widths you could want!
