The Nexus Oscars (the Nexcars?)

Alright, so let's get the bare bones down. :3 There are a few things I need from you guys before I can even contemplate running this.

1. Dray. You had plot-ness, yes? Contact me so we can work out details.
2. Judges: Mystic, Dray, Silver Midnight, Dev I need a panel of three unbiased judges to help with the deliberations of who gets what award. The way it will work is that I determine what nominees you get to chose from and then you get to pick who wins first, second, third, etc. Some awards will be obvious.
3. Awards: Silver Midnight, Myrror, Yakima I need artists willing to draw up all the awards and put the winner's name on it when a decision is reached. There will be many awards, so many people can apply and pitch in.
4. Suggestions. What awards should we have? Below I've started my own list. Throw in some suggestions here. PLEASE NOTE that awards must be open to several people. Something like "Best Pure Aven Artist" will not get in. :P

That's it for now. Once I have these basics down, I'll start putting up rules and accepting nominees.

How about awards for writing? Most story-chapters? Most entertaining/innovative/etc. character or plot? And then there's always the silly things like Most Mary-Sue (but only in good fun!) and Most (Insert Stereotype here, like crazy-scientist, etc.)

I'm up for awards and such, if possible. :3 As a judge I'll throw my name into the hat. Perhaps you can draw names on who judges each event, so that you have different people judging each time?

... um, could we take off the "best artist/writer" categories? They're way too subjective, and very likely to get people's feelings hurt. If we wanna run with this, we're gonna wanna run with this in the best way to not cause hurt feelings, insults, and other types of drama.

This is exactly what I've been trying to say, Cacopheny. I agree with you and I second that.

Also, Dev said he'd volunteer to help pick nominees for the other categories. He's pretty much the ultimate uninterested, unbiased, third-party party XD

@ Lakota and Cacopheny - I agree! The fun categories are great (I'm pointing at the "Grammar Nazi" and "All-Nighter" awards especially - LOL.) but the "best so-and-so" awards are very likely to possibly hurt feelings. No one likes an argument, especially me. (I tend to disappear when those happen.)

Done and done. Those catagories are gone. I agree that they were the most competative, and if this is just going to be fun then I don't want them there.

And Xalia, yeah it is closely related to that. If you recall, I was thinking of something similar at the same time. I want to continue with the idea and would be grateful for the collaberation if you want to add the Mock Awards to this. :3

What's the story on nominees? Are you still the sole determiner of who gets to be entered in what contest, Mystic? Or are we going to submit who we think should be entered? Or do people get to volunteer themselves?

Actually how about a suggestion:

We could individually *give* an award to someone that we feel has done something special or affected the community in a way. Like, my award would be something like "The Weyrgeezer's Honored Recognition of..." or sillier. Just a thought.

Alright, so it'd be more like "who do we think deserves this award?" Which would mean no first, second, third thing, but more of a recognition of anyone who has really contributed.
