911 emergency? - Hello? Blockbuster closed! HAX!!!

so I work two jobs, I do graphic design art at sound images, and but dont get paid much... if at all I also work at blockbuster and we close at 12 right? So some girls come in at 11:58, we say "we are closing in 2 minutes, they spend 7 minutes in there and we tell them we really must close, they say their aunt will be there soon to pay for their movie, they cant pay, we are way behind as it is, so we ask them to leave, they leave and we start to do the end of night stuff... 10 minutes later their aunt comes by, knocking on the window pissed off accusing us of throwing out 3 13 year old girls into the cold, I decided to handle this solo, so I go over, explain we close at 12 and we could not keep them in the store, at that she wasn't there till 15 minutes after was her fault and not ours (I admit I went postal on her bitchy ass) she then says "A guy is out here and he could have raped these girls" I look at this guy and he seems like a nice looking guy eating a sandwitch smiling talking to the girls, I say "he looks pretty nice to me" she then asks to see the manager or she will "call the cops" I ask "For what?!" and she says again "I want to talk to your manager" he comes over and tells her she has to come back in the morning and talk to the store manager she then goes back to us throwing out lil girls. I say "They were here too late and we are behind as it is" she then says "You stay out of this, I dont like your additude" I throw up my hand into a blabber mouth thing and walk away. My manager says the same things I did 'cept in more of a "nice way"

I also said "We close at midnight, what happens to the girls outside after hours is not our responsibilty" She also said "You should be ashamed" when I went away after the blabber mouth thing. =)

The lil girls were bitches too, We tell them we have to close and one says "You guys have hot dates or something?" I say "No we just been here for 8 hours and we want to go home"

God damn it was fun, but damn I wish she didn't demand to see the manager. And If I was there alone I would have said "CALL THE FUCKING COPS! Wait... I'LL DO IT FOR YOU!"

Anyone remember that audio you posted once of the girl calling the cops for that burger a fast food place would'nt make her? It would have been another of those. Us americans are crazy mofos, you do anything we will.. tattle.

What grounds could she have had for calling the cops? We would have been liable for them IF we actually let them stay in the store. We are not responsible for these girls! Damn!

Yeah sorry had to post this I dont know if someone here has worse experiences and this seems lame but I thought I should at least try to post here more often. Sorry if this post seems badly written, its copy and pasted from posts on aim. =)

The one thing that amuses me is the aunt had a go at you for throwing the girls out where anybody could kidnap/rape/whatever them, but she was the one happy to let them come in alone in the first place? Ever get the feeling that some people expect random strangers to be the ones to look after their kids because they're too incompetent to do it themselves? *shrugs*

Still, dude, I agree with you totally.

Heh, I agree with you entirely Dev. You're not responsible for someone's kids, and they can't expect you to be, especially when they're breaking the rules of the place.

I had to kick out this one kid who'd been standing around in my comic store for like 5 hours - his folks dropped him off, he was *very* nice, quiet, not a real problem, but it was getting to be like 630 and we closed at 7, I had my 'last lineup' of buyers. Right before we closed up the parents come in, and the dad's all yelling at me for being racist (they were philipino? I couldn't care less) and his wife has to 'escort' him outside to shut him up.

I had to explain that in no way shape or form is it ever okay to leave your kid in a store WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION with the store managers (me) first, as it's NOT a babysitting service. They yelled back about how he could have been alone outside, so I gave the - "look I don't know YOU from adam - ANYONE could have come in and seen a kid wandering in the store ALONE, and took him FROM the store, and I would not have known any better."

By the time they left, I had 5 customers bitching at THEM for having pissed ME off, my friend said I had handled the whole thing really well but afterwards I was SHAKING I was so angry... telling me I'm racist? because they had the lack of sense to leave their kid in a store while his sister competed in her skating contest around the freaking corner?

I am sooooo there with you pal. Retail SUX.

Friend of mine works in a shop over here, and one day a Phillipino woman walks in to get a top-up on her mobile phone. She gets a big one, like £40 or so, but doesn't know how to do it, so she gets one of the guys in the shop to do it for her, and then to say thanks, she gives him a £10 tip. Two days later, her boyfriend walks in and has a go because the shop was racist and overcharged his girlfriend because she was Phillipino, and they'd better give him some free mobile phones or he was going to the newspapers to tell them how racist the company was. Turns out the two of them were running a little scam to get free stuff, and news of them had already reached the company, so the senior management of the company told 'em where to go, in no uncertain terms.

some people whould be shot... then shot again... and another time for good luck. And then once more, for the children, they like that kind of stuff. By that time its a big squishy mess and all the kids are playing in the blood. Then comes the zombies.

Oooh... I've got SO many stories left over from working at Dairy Queen. My favourite one, however, has to one where I wasn't even involved.

This car full of teenage guys goes through the drive-thru and orders two large banana split blizzards. For those of who aren't cringing quite yet; picture this. Middle of summer, blazing hot day, ice cream machines been going all day so it's warmed up a bit (and hence warmed up the ice cream) and the banana split blizzard has the most liquid ingrediants of any blizzard available. All these things combined made for two very slushy blizzards.

So the guys pull up to the window and take their blizzards. Like the morons that they are, they insist on holding them upside down (as per the commercial) right over their laps. The anticipated result is a gooey mess on their flashy truck's floor.

Now if my idiot manager hadn't been in at the time, the girl at the window would've likely told them it's not our fault once it's in their hands and shut the window. Unfortunately, the manager had to "make nice" with the asshats and ordered their blizzards remade.

I suppose there was enough justice in seeing them drive off with a truck that would soon be stinking of old milk anyway.

*chuckles* I work at McDonalds (though I will hopefully be gone by the end of the month 'cause I'm sick of the place and all the morons that come through), so I know how stupid people can be at fast food type places.

I think the worst thing is that our store has it set up that the person in backdrive is nothing more then a machine who takes money and washes trays.

It's boring and 90% of the people that go through drive thru either glare at you, treat you like you're stupid, are talking on there cell phone and ignore you (some say something eventually but most don't), or act like you are not even there - or I'm just a machine that dosn't need to be spoken to.

Gee...and they wonder why I hate being stuck back there 90% of my 40 hour week...dur...Friday I had finally had it and broke down crying...of course there are other things going on with the family and my own problems I've been dealing with. They know I don't like that spot yet they keep sticking me back there...

Yeah...I need to escape McHell...

And I have horror stories, too. I know that they have called the cops before on people that continued to harrass us and threaten us. Can't remember what because I just heard about it, wasn't there. I've seen people get arrested for other things! In Wadena I remember this group or kid or something came through drivethru just seconds before the cops pulled up and arrested them.

Idiots. Heehee...

Some friends of mine went through a drive-thru without a car once... They just walked in a square and mimed driving through, winding down the window and so on... In their defence, they were drunk and it was the middle of the night... and they were polite to the person who served them, even though she was staring at them like they were insane...

Once I was looking at the wendys drive through, and I saw something that did not register in my head at first, it was a old guy... on a motorized scooter, ya know like those scooters old/fat people have to sit in and they ride everywhere... Now I dont know what to think about this. I mean is that a common thing? Or was he just old and dying?

THere is a rather nice (yet creepy) guy that comes through on his at McDee's latley. He even got the sensor to pick up his 'vehical' so I didn't have to take his order at the window...heh. He order then goes to the back of the parking lot, eats and leaves. *shrugs* I think it's kinda funny when people come through on motercycles because it's got to be hard to eat and drive one of them! I think most sit in a parking spot and eat but I know some drive away...hmmm...

What I hate is I worked at a McDonalds like Yakima but they forced me to take orders. I hated it since because I'm native american I had way to many of the hispanics walk up to me and start rattaling off their order in spanish.

Then I had the mangers keep saying you had to ask if they wanted to try something 'new'. Do you know how many times I must a have ticked people off because they said that's 'all' and they force me to ask them that crap. I know it ticks me off personly when I'm ordering food so why should I do it to people who say that all they wanted. I hated it.

Then there was this time I had these two preteens harass me because they orders like a dollor and they didn't have the 10 cents to cover the tax. And they stood their harassing me while I was taking other peoples orders.

God people can be such asses.

You should have just said "yo quero taco bell" if you dont know spanish.. and I know that is probably spelled wrong but, eh'. confuse them. Preteens should be shot... and teens should be kicked, and adults should be slapped, and dead people should chill... of course if the preteens are shot... then they would go straight to relax... hmmm shortcut.

Dur...I hate working counter till - mostly because counter can get sooooo boring and I can do nothing to distract myself ecept start to pace back and forth which only starts to annoy me because I think about problems. In backdrive I've gotten the managers to the point where if I get my notebook and pencil out they've stopped harassing me about doing that type of stuff back there. They expect me to clean - dude! There isn't much to clean and there is no way I'm cleaning it twice in a week! I also told them that drawing and writting keeps me calm other wise I start to freak out from being back there all the time.

Of course, only the counter tills deal with taking orders in our store. Thankfully they don't make us ask those stupid questions. Our store is a privte store (not corporate which means they pay us shit...6.55 vs 10.00? Something wrong with that picture!) so things can be different. Our orders in lobby (as we have phones at the tables where people can place there order and we bring it out to them and then they pay), and drive-thru are all taken somewhere in Colorado and (expecially today), we get so many complaits about them it drives me nuts.

And they wonder why I start getting crabby when I do nothing but backdrive, finally see my name somewhere else on the set up - then someone whines and crabs and I get stuck back there anyway. Hmmm...
