1. Dragons are always:
A) Fire-breathing
False. Both Nexiian and lore dragons have breeds which breath another element, or have no breath weapon at all.
B) Evil False. The Celts, Vikings, and other old cultures worshipped dragons as protectors and gods.
C) Able to fly False. Sea seprents, also recognized as a breed of dragon, have had many 'sightings' off the Pacific coast.
D) Scaly False. Nexiian and lore dragons have been known to show other physical characteristics, such as fur.

2. The smallest dragon on record was:
A) Fifty feet long
False. One myth references pseudo-dragons. Small, feather-winged lizards that were exterminated by farmers in the mid 19th century (or round about there).
B) Twenty feet long False. A recorded 'draconologist' Volodimir Kapusianyk (whether he exists or not) claimed to have found a "Rare Winged Garter Snake" that was "...barely 8 feet long".
C) Four inches long Possibly true. Based off Nexiian dragons, this would count for snagons. (My babies. I have yet to unleash them on the Nexus)
D) Six inches long This is closer to what assumedly would be the length of a small, flying lizard.

3. Dragon blood is said to be:
A) Boiling hot
False. Honestly, that's just silly.
B) Poisonous And what kept the dragon alive?
C) Green Possible. Insect blood is green.
D) Slimy Well duh. It's blood.

4. Which saint is often depicted killing a dragon?
A) St. Micheal
False.
B) St. Peter False.
C) St. Paul False.
D) St. George True.

5. The hero in question four fights a dragon to rescue:
A) The daughter of a king
False.
B) His wife False.
C) No one - was just a pesky dragon I don't really know the story, so I'm gonna go with this one.
D) Sleeping Beauty False.

6. A dragon appears on the flag of:
A) England
False.
B) Scotland False.
C) Wales False.
D) Ireland True.

7. In Greek legend, Hercules killed a dragon called a:
A) Hydra
True.
B) Puff False.
C) Wyvern False.
D) Chimera False.

8. In the Bible, dragons are described in:
A) Genesis
Oh god... I don't know. False.
B) Revelation False.
C) First Kings False.
D) Corinthians True.

9. In China, a five-toed dragon is:
A) Considered the rarest of dragons
False.
B) Used only by the emperor on his regalia True.
C) A source of bad luck False.
D) The guardian of the sea False.

10. Old maps and globes sometimes referred to dragons with the following words:
A) Hic sunt dracones
True.
B) Sea of dragons False.
C) Dragon land False.
D) draconia False.

11. A dragon called an 'amphisbaena" is said to have:
A) Six wings
True.
B) Five tails False.
C) Three eyes False.
D) Two heads False.

Dunno most of them. But the ones I am 100% sure of are:

4. Which saint is often depicted killing a dragon?
D) St. George (Saint of England and English Girly here...).

5. The hero in question four fights a dragon to rescue:
A) The daughter of a king

6. A dragon appears on the flag of:

don't know the rest of them, but I do know this:

8. In the Bible, dragons are described in:
A) Genesis
B) Revelation
C) First Kings
D) Corinthians

That would be B) Revelation. I've read that book enough times. Revelation 12:3 mentions a red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on its heads

Among the obscure, I'd have to say dragon blood is poisonous. In Slavic myth, at least, dragon blood is so poisonous that the earth itself refuses to absorb it. Others say it's so caustic that weapons are useless against it, for after piercing the dragon's skin, the blood eats away at the metal. (Dragons are secretly xenos! Woo!) And then there's the Wilser dragon, whose blood killed the hero who slayed it when said hero lifted his sword triumphantly above his head, and had the blood flow down the blade and kill him.

*laughing!*

Hero: "Oh shi--!" *buys the farm*
I can see a dragon cackling in the afterlife at that. X3 Either that, or spiritually face-palming to be killed by something as /stupid/ as that. And then probably eating him up in the afterlife. X333

That would be the ultimate irony :D

And, for those awnsers I promised...

1.d. Dragons are reptilian. Interestingly, they are not always evil. (Duh! Wand...) Some Chinese dragons, for instance, are associated with fertility, and with bringing rain.

2.c. Some Chinese dragons can change size and have been known to be as small as a silkworm.

3.b. Contact between human skin and even a drop of dragons blood can be fatal.

4.d. St. George, who is the patron saint of England

5.a. He is fighting to rescue the daughter of a libyan king.

6.c. The Welsh flag has a red dragon on a white and green field. The welsh adopted the dragon from a flag carried by the roman legions who conquered the British Isles almost 2,000 years ago.

7.a. The hydra had numerous heads. When one was cut off, two grew in its place. (I really hope Mysts Hydra's don't have this trait...scary.) In order to slay the hydra, he greek hero Heculese had to cut off each head and immediatly cauterize the wounds with fire. (Though he did have help doing this, hence why the slaying of the hydra was not counted among his 10 labors, along with having to clean the stables.)

8.b. Revelations 12: 4-5 speakds of a "wonder in heaven; and beholds a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads."

9.b. Five-clawed dragons were an emblem of devine power. The Chinese emperor sat on was called the "Dragon Throne" and his subjects sometimes referred to themselves as the "children of the dragon."

10.a These latin words mean "Here are dragons" and appear on maps and globes that were made when much of the world was unexplored and frightening things were thought to await explorers of unknown lands and seas.

11.d. With a head on either end of its body, this dragon would hold onto itself with one of its mouths, allowing it to roll along the ground like a hoop. (Would'nt wings work better?)

Technically, the answer for the first question is wrong, since choice D was 'scaly'. Which is incorrect, even if you exclude our dragons here. Anne McCaffrey's dragons are well-known enough to be included in the definition of a dragon, and they aren't scaly. Although they are reptillian... I guess the tabloid wasn't including any modern fiction on dragons, only ancient fiction?

Honestly, I have no clue, hence the disclaimer about it being from a tabloid. Besides, was just for fun anyway. :)

Actually dragon blood couldn't be poisonous, there are old myth and lore accounts that have been used in books saying that if you eat the heart of a dragon, you become immortal. =P Probably also where they got the idea for Dragonheart. In a way, anywho.

Now -wyvern- blood was deathly poisonous, as was pretty much the whole wyvern.

In fact, Fafnir the dragon's blood made Sigurd invulnerable to physical harm, and also made him understand the language of animals!

I guess it just means we all have different dragons in our heads... XD I mean, come on, if my happy-smiley-fluffy Schattarneki can be dragons... ;}

I like the quiz though :D

That first one is bullshit. I don't know where my 'Draconology' book is so I can't pull it out for references, but I know some cultures classified dragons as mammilian.

Also, did you know that the Empress of China sat on the Phoenix Throne? The two mythical creatures were said to compliment and balance each other as ying and yang do.

:D And no, my hydras don't regrow their heads. Though that could be something for Dr. Schroeder to play with. >.>

My dragons are mammalian too... all warm and cuddly and fluffy... And they have livebirth and feed their young milk... I think they pass all the qualifications to be mammals.

And Lakota's Schattarneki have got to be mammals too, considering the fluff...

I think that most of the modern adoption agencies that sport their own breeds of dragons are mammalian, or have mammalian characteristics.

I don't think that Pernese dragons were reptillian, however. O.o They're almost a mixture between reptillian and insectine, since they have the peculiar skeletal system (that reminds me of an exoskeleton that just has skin and stuff slapped on top) and ichor that's a lot more... bug-like. o_o Not to mention those eyes! Whadda you guys think?

That's entirely possible; think about the 'society' Pernese dragons and firelizards have, too. The Queen is the only one that breeds, and mating takes place in the air. Those kinda things happen in a lot of hive type insects, like bees and ants and wopses/wasps. Benden Hive doesn't quite have the same ring to it, though...

Heh. If I were more of a fan fic writer that'd be an excellent spin on that worn out old universe.... :D And good points, Dray. They're *alien* animals after all, and can't necessarily even be compared to earthly creatures. But you're right, they're more like insects.

I think most Nexiian dragons have some reptilian traits, such as egg-laying, but otherwise they're more mammilian. Also, the egg-laying could be more easily explained then why a reptile has warm-blood, mammilian senses, and spends more time protecting their young.

I think there's acutally one egg-laying mammal about, but I forget what it is. A platypus maybe? I dunno.

Yeah, it's the platypus...

Course, birds lay eggs but also spend a lot of time looking after their young... and are warm-blooded...
