A FORUM RP! Someone sets up a give-away, and then we just do quick one-liner posts with our characters until the creatures go out.

LOL actually yeah, that's kinda what I meant :D kind of an RP while still divulging the character's personality and origin, and then at the very end the female's owner RPs the hatchlings as they emerge and choose their bonds.

*grins* Reminds me of the DRoP RPs on Neopets.. you were involved in, like, a fifteen minute RP before the hatching and then your character (never to be used again, of course) would Impress and you would feel happy because you impressed X dragon by putting in less than two hours. They were fun and I miss them. :D

I never really did any of those. Well, maybe a few from this group, but they never went far. Anyone else remember Pern on Earth?

Anyway, maybe we can start one.

Actually I started off with forum rp dragoning, along with Taerinn who is presently... Gone. XD My character actually had a blue-green dragoness. What we did was all made a dragon, and the person running it would roll to see who got who.

That actually sounds really fun! Kinda like our exchanges but with RP involved and without the request aspect...heh...

Can we try it out?

What would be base it on though? And would anyone be willing to do images for it or should we just go without?

I'll do images if we can decide on a dragon type and whatnot :D

I also have another idea. What if someone makes up -one- candidate and everyone else makes hatchlings for them, and then the candidate picks a number and they bond with that hatchling and all the others become sponsored dragonlings?

I realize that's not fair to everyone else, because only one person gets a ton of dragons :/ I like the base idea of it, but it needs tweaking! Advice? :}

and yeah, I'd be happy to do the images for a forum-RP :3

I'll do images too ^_^

Er.. if I have my art stuff unpacked in time (moving on Saturday).

Not actually going to send in any Candidates, since I don't do the writing thing anymore (and don't have a webpage at the moment).

What if we each draw an image and submit it to the organizer then everyone also has to create a candidate to RP...then come hatching each candidate picks a number and impresses their dragon based on the number they picked? That would make it entirely random...and if someone didn't like their art abilities enough to participate in the drawing portion others could volunteer to draw for them...

Hmm...well I might be changing the rules for the Generations Project because the dragon stats are enough. Thing is, I need some practice at combining dragon traits for the Shimmer Frenzy so I started it. And considering I still need half the links from my Winged Wolf and Baskar giveaways(HintHint), yeah, it may be a while before I do them even if they were actually fun for me.

Of course, I vote for a month to catch up rather then a week...being that our July week is smack dab in the middle of camping and the fair I doubt I'll be able to do anything to begin with. Sorry, but Segs dosn't work on that kind of pressure...trust me *facepalm*

Also, I may not have started any giveaways if people actually sent me candidates. I have nothing to do thus I started giveaways. And, I was hoping people would start packs with there wolves so that I can get pedigree's going for them when I put out the pups. But that didn't happen either though I think I tried to hint it. (I hint because I don't like to sound demanding...*shrugs*) I would also love to write again but I blam that on Segs and RL (aka work...aka McDonalds...) Of course, my computer dying didn't help and getting a call from the repair guys today didn't help. Don't know what it was but it can't be good knowing my luck...*whimpers*

But anyway, my two cents.

Sounds like fun but I may have to sit this one out ... I'm not good with RPs because I can't keep up with my character interacting with others and going away for a few days and the action going on without me and ... yes. bad idea on my part. I just want a nice normal clutch where I can write my candidate on a web page with a purdy layout and a nice story and then wait for months on end for the thing to hatch and then get a pretty dragon for the effort. Call me old fashioned but that's *still* my favorite way of doing things, but it seems like the few remaining people who actually have active places like that are ALL going on hiatus, or seriously considering it. I don't know ... I just like having my characters in permanent, coherent stories, on one world, not just floating about on a forum, you know? But I'm not going to keep all of YOU from doing it, and maybe with time I'll be persuaded... Although with school coming up I somehow doubt it x_X Heck, with school coming up, I may have no choice but to join the Hiatus bandwagon!

I'll send you a candidate! *big puppy eyes* I love your dragons. And I do believe I need to get my exchange wolf up ... why didn't I do that already? *hurries up to do that*

You know, Astra, the Baskar, Treval and FGPC and Shimmer Frenzy is still waiting for candidates and I will still hatch them when I get enough candidates. I on hatius, yes, but some of those clutches have been up for a while and I want them hatched and out! Haitus for me means no more new clutches after these hatch for a while so I can rest...:) Well, sorta. Obviously Segs started the Generations thing because she wants the Shimmer Frenzy to be perfect...*glares at her slave driver* Evil little wolf...

Well, the FGPC clutch is pretty empty. i don't think I updated the page yet. Baskar has two places open. Treval has five though Sil says she has one in progress for me, and the Shimmer Frenzy has about 80 eggs expected to hatch but how many that actually hatch will depend on how many people send in. I would have to say on for Treval and Baskar's clutches, follow the rules at the FGPC and the Shimmer Frenzy has a limit of five for now. (I think the rules at the FGPC are three). Baskar and Treval allow sponsers but you still need a story for them, and the Shimmer Frenzy may allow sponsers but you can't get a dragon that needs to Impress or bond (thus Pernese and half-Pern dragons are unsponserable).

What happened to the days when candidates were stories? Detailed stas apges to me isn't a candidate. It's just information you know? I'd always give out dragons to candidates based on their stories and what life did to them...etc.. stuff like that.

:S i dunno. Mebbe i'm too old skool ><; I usually only write stats pages for candidates after i do their stories. Maybe we could doa giveaway for really detailed stats pages? *shrugs*

Stories, I find, are excellent for personality development and background of said characters. I enjoy seeing what people write for stories after their characters bond their dragon, so I can see what they do with their lives. I tend to do that if I'm wanting to take a character somewhere. Great way to make 'em famous in the Nexus. :)

The funny thing is I'm trying to be an author as a career... but sometimes I just feel strange dumping out stories for candidates. Maybe it's because it seems to me that there are so MANY dragoning sites just within the Nexus, and so MANY dragons to bond/spaces open at clutches, that I feel unenthusiastic/overwhelmed to write even a shortish story for each one. And sometimes people have themes (don't get me wrong, I like themes) and sometimes it's just impossible to write to that theme because you don't feel inspired or have any ideas, so you more or less have to miss out on that clutch.

Also, I've gone to a lot of writers' conventions and whatnot and a lot of the published authors and editors and publishers say there are only so many stories out there. You can only write so many things before you start to repeat the underlying theme. I used to RP online on boards a lot, and it seemed like everyone had the same family history. I want every one of my characters to be unique... but sometimes that seems impossible.

I guess the point of all this is, I love writing, but sometimes the only thing that's going to come of my writing sessions is a detailed stats page that includes a personality/history/story paragraph or two, but not the short story I WANT to produce. I just think that if people feel obligated to constantly write longish stories (i.e., more than a paragraph or two) they're going to get burned out and not want to do it any more, period. Which is kind of what we're seeing with a few people now, and with everone wanting the break week/month coming up. I don't know what to suggest for a solution... but this is just my opinion on what I see :/
