Xalia, I have a volunteer image for you ^__^
Name: Kalterish
Translation: N/A (named by former owners)
ID: 01s
Gender: Male
Race: Tundra Sa'enkeyn
Length: 5'
Coloration: White and fiery in winter, brown and fiery in summer
Markings: Feathers, tail-stripes
Magical abilities: None
History: Kalterish was one of the first to be sold to a wealthy human family. When sold, he was collared with a device that basically fried the ability of telepathy from his mind (and kept him calm and complacent), and he found himself unable to communicate - any attempts he made were written off as a cute trick. Kalterish tried to learn the language of the humans, and he was making good attempts when he was finally rescued by the True Enkeyn. Once free, he and the Enkeyn of Kenist Miana decided it would be in his best interests to find a quiet new place to live.
Personality: Kalterish is particularly stubborn and sullen, a fan of grudge-holding and sulking. Considering the poor treatment he received at the hands of the human family that bought him, treating him as a dumb animal, his current behavior could be considered justified, though with proper treatment he will probably become better-natured. Kalterish is also jealous of his larger Enkeyn cousins, envying their size and powers, and tends to avoid them whenever possible.
Notes: His natural coloration is pure white in the winter and mottled brown in the summer, but his wing feathers were magically altered to be brighter and more appealing, and the stripes on his tail were also added. This coloration may be passed onto his offspring, depending on whether the alteration was genetic or superficial. Though he can no longer communicate telepathically, he should be able to learn other forms of communication with teaching and time. He does not have an activated aura - it will appear dim and colorless compared to a regular Enkeyn's aura.
Kalterish is the first of the Sa'enkeyn, an artifically created race. When the Enkeyn became more wide-spread and their numbers larger, they were admired from afar by humans, Sharians, and Kysians alike.
Finally, some Kysians (a race very similar to Sharians in physical appearance, worlds apart in ideals and customs) decided to take matters into their own hands, and make a profit at the same time. Using a combination of magical distraction and cunning, they were able to kidnap a number of Enkeyn pups and hid them deep away in their own lands.
Magically altering the pups proved easy, and their size was stunted and their aging sped up. They were treated decently enough, except for the fact that they were held captive and knew nothing of the world outside their complex. A couple generations and several years later, the Kysians decided they had enough pups to start quietly selling them to the wealthy.
Needless to say, this was discovered by the Enkeyn, and they were, in a word, not happy. The Kysians who had captured the pups fled, taking their tame Enkeyn with them, and destroying as many records as they could. To this day, they have not yet been discovered, though the Sharian authorities are said to be hot on the trail.
It is still unknown exactly how many of these small Enkeyn, or Sa'enkeyn, were sold. So far about a dozen have been recovered, all sold to families and individuals who thought they were just a particularly intelligent new breed of mage construct. Most were given up without a struggle when it was revealed what they really were, and those who did not give up their Sa'enkeyn quietly were.. dealt with.
The Sa'enkeyn have become a race unto themselves, with their odd lifespan (quick aging, long life) and utter lack of knowledge of Enkeyn history, customs, and magic. The ones of the generation that were sold all had their telepathy ability and any other magical talents removed, but this was not genetic, and their own offspring should inherit them as per normal. Their diet and general species (Tundra, Desert, etc) are the same as Enkeyn, and they do not bond. They are physically fully mature at the age of three, though it's thought that their mental maturity takes a year or two more to catch up. All have been magically altered so that they feature bright colors and interesting physical traits, which may or may not be passed on to future generations.
The Sa'enkeyn are trying to find a place for themselves in the world, much smaller than their Enkeyn parent race, but with the same intelligence and strength of spirit. At the moment, most are being collected and held at Keniet Miana.
