You can also send in any dragons that come from the bonding project, if you're so inclined!

I'm going to do a big ol' pairing-system and begin to post said pairings in the first thread, at that point I think I'll close down applications to the breedingness. I'll give it another couple of days, however!

I think... how this is going to work, is that once I have all of the pairings I can handle for a while, I'll shut apps down, and open them again at a later date, only allowing a few dragons in at a time. How's that sound to you guys?

I would send my two half-daemons from the CoC, but I don't have their parentage up on the page--and I don't have time to go searching for links at this time (Still need to get dressed for work). However, if it's still open tonight, and since they're both female (My quarter ones are both male, and one's...well, double-headed, and because of that, I don't want to send him)

Myrror: ^_^ I think I know the parentage for your two (October and Aphelion Nightspark, right?) so it's not quite as important, you don't need to link directly in that case! As for the double-headed fellow, I don't mind at all if you send him in (I have lots of other half-breed daemons that have no aven-dragon blood in them whatsoever!), but if you don't want to, you don't have to. ^^; I'd love to see whatever you have, so long as you don't mind sending them in! :D

Gildedlily: Yep, I'm currently using a typical old-fashioned Pernese-style 'grading system' so that you can get a good idea of what quality of character to send in. Those that I say anyone can enter, you can send in a paragraph long, badly written candidate or sponsor and I won't mind a bit. Blue-rated isn't much more difficult... I'm just looking for something that has a bit more /plot/ then random "You walk into a weyr and find Bananafanny Snookerboots and they are happy and fun to be around." XD Brown-rated clutches I'm looking for more quality still... for Bronze/Gold clutches-only, I'm looking for something more like this, since it's easy to read, short (two chapters is about the most I want to have to read at a time anyhow!), deals directly with the plot and shows that the writer has a good grasp of what's going on in character, not to mention it's easy to read and there are few to no spelling errors. o.o' *ramble!*

Anyhow, if you have any more questions, feel absolutely free to ask, and I'll try to answer them as best I can! ^_^''

Laaaaastly, I'm wondering: Would people mind if I give out a number along with each dragonet, sort of like what Silver Midnight does with her clutches? :\ I'm going to be very strict about giving out cross-breeds, since they're supposed to be super-rare, and I'd like to let people know where they stand in their current stories, so they know if they'll need to improve if they want a crossbreed. o_o' It won't be meant to offend anyone, or to pick favorites, but it seems so much easier then saying "well, /this/ clutch is brown-rated!" Instead I can say "you need to write a level 17 or higher character in order for them to bond or sponsor from this clutch," and then link to an example of such a character, if there is one. I don't want to sound pretentious... so if it sounds like a bad idea, just poke me and I'll drop it. ^^; Just wondering what you think!

I have an IDEA! No, don't run away-

We should have a round-robin candidate-rateing type of deelie, where you say- "No, you have to decide how tall she is- she looks UP at S'ven in paragraph two, and then all of a sudden he's shorter than her. And she seems flat- why exactly is she living here?"

But your idea is good. Numbers are FUN! I think that'd be a little better for this type of thing where you can't just say "You didn't make the cut, other people were better" and you have to actually say that somebody was BAD. Then nobody's bad, just- more to the left on the number scale!

Numbers sound good to me. Will you go back and grade all the dragons already given out, then, so we know for sure how we did with those?

I have no problems with the ideas, I mostly pick and choose based on how much I like the template myself...*shrugs a bit*

hehe, Level 17. =P That's the minimum for my Halloween Event. That's a low-bronze level by comparison to color charts.

11 and 12 -- Green
13 and 14 -- Blue
15 and 16 -- Brown
17 and 18 -- Bronze
19 -- Gold
20 -- White/very rarely given out

To put in perspective, I've hatched about five 18's, and one 19, and the 20's weren't adoptable. That's my scale, anyway...

How did the "flight" for this happen? I'm figuring it happens, like, right around "graduation" time for Frux's four, since otherwise they wouldn't be around... unless they get an "invitation" of sorts, to come back? >.> And how does it happen? Big frenzy type thing again, or actual individual flight/run/pairings? And do teachers at the school have any amount of notice, or do they just look up one day to find dragons chasing each other around the complex? XD

Aaaaaand, is there any way to find out if my other two of Frux's are getting paired up or not, or have you not decided yet? Or have you decided but aren't willing to tell me? >.> I'm particularly curious about Pebai, given she's Frux's "favorite"....

I'll have some story half (or even mostly!) written and then not know where the heck I was going with it if I put it down for any length of time. >_>" It's why I send out so few candidates... my attention span is notoriously short. ^^; You can always pick up on him again later though, right? Or poke him to do something different, I suppose. Take your time, not rush!

Phe: Yeah, I think I may go back and 'grade' the ones given out. Not right now, though... I need to be a little more coherent so I have a more solid base to grade from. I need more reasons then "I had a hard time reading it!" to base them off of!

Sil: Speaking of grading things, what else do you tend to take into account, other then how much you cherish the images? o_o Legibility, readability/coherency (those being two slightly different things), relevence, conciseness, other hoity toity terms I can't think of right now? XD

Gayle: There are some things I can reveal and some that I can't. I don't want to reveal any pairings that I don't have anything started for right now because I might change mates, or I might choose not to draw their offspring after all! What I can say for sure is that this flight was something of a surprise up until the day of, at least for many of the faculty! Croste and Frada Meridia were in kahootz to set another one up, so yes, there was a similar flight to what happened before, only it was more a secret "if you're Avengaean you're allowed to go, but don't tell anyone!" sort of thing. XD Of course secrets like that leak. Take that how you will!

If you'd like to make it around graduation, then go for it. I don't think it'll interfere with anything, and it would make more sense if some of the participants were actually old enough to attend!

*snrks* I don't know if he'd /want/ to sponsor from the next pairing, whether or not Ontellonji is his charge! I mean, Onte's all annoying jock, and his mate is even WORSE! This can't bode well for the offspring!

I think I may wait on finishing my guy until I get my 'grade' from the last one...see what I have to jump off from and what level the next one might give me...

I'm starting to get ideas for him again though...just nothing solid enough to write on...I'll probably get a really, really good idea while I'm at the ranch tomorrow...that's just how it always works..no paper, no pen, no way/time to record the idea and it's gone by the time I have it.... *L*

Hrm, when I grade people... Well, upon the dragons the rankings of each will determine their skill with magic and physical ability, as the number is a combined skill number. Though image is also likely to have a higher coinciding ranking. I take into account perceived value of color and difficulty in markings/effects of the coloration of the dragon in addition to the lineart. A dragon that takes more inking, shading, attention to markings, etc is likely to be higher ranked, but not necessarily. Also you'll rarely see a full-blooded Fantasan green because somewhere along the line I said "screw it, I like green!" and made them almost unattainable.

Um, as for the stories... Well, not everyone is at the same skill level as others. Certain people will rank higher consistently because of that, but I try to be fair. If you paid attention to detail, spell-checked, and didn't drive me insane with bad grammar you'll usually rank *at least* a high blue. Usually there will be lots of brown-equivalents floating around.

The better you entertain me, usually the better you do... Have a plot! Make your character believable! Spell-check! Grammar-check! Oh, and for the love of the gods, make the page READABLE. This means clearly defined paragraphs and some punctuation even if it's not exact.

If you make the page readable and your grammar isn't bad, plus about a half-page of single-spaced text, you'll get a 13 at the lowest. If it makes sense and pertains to the clutch. I don't want people randomly showing up without any apparent rhyme or reason, though if you make it plausible with a fair amount of text you'll get about a 14... Stats pages I'm iffy-on, depends on how indepth they are.

I like longer stories, about five pages is a good length for a story, but usually the ones that rank higher have about 7 pages total, with a good plot, and a good candidate. If you write less, though, and do really well--such as the Begug example--expect around a 15 or a 16 at least. Possibly higher.

Also, there's the account of in reference to each other... I get a lot of good candidates, that could push your rank down because I have to compare them to each other, but you'll still come out fairly well! If I get a lot of low-rankers, you might get higher...and with midrankers then one outstanding. It could push your rank up.

Woot, thanks you guys! X3 Don't worry, Myrror, I'll be very careful what babies come of N'coaleith! I'd probably get physically poked in the eye if I didn't! XD

Just a reminder to everyone else, tomorrow is the deadline for being able to send anyone you want in to breed (so long as they're 1/4 Avengaean or more!) After that I'll strictly limit how many people can apply, and I may even put further restrictions (say, you may have to have adopted several dragonets already, or have a certain level of some kind or another, or have only sent in so many breeders beforehand, etc. etc.) So, if you've got a dragon that you'd like to see have Aven-style/Dray-drawn-style offspring, send 'em in right away! ^_^'
