Gerundin is a relatively small man, and because he only recently began transitioning, he still has a lot of markers that others might mistake for female. Never the less, he is made of stern stuff, and trends towards masculine apparel tailored just for his frame to help compensate for his perceived shortcomings. Nidus Descendi's healthcare descends, in part, from a futuristic, technologically advanced demographic that immigrated from Star City, however the resources of the Nidus are far more limited than was available for that remarkable space station, so for the time being, Gerundin's been making do with a technologically advanced tattoo ink that mimics beard stubble to help him pass, for better or worse, with other Queen Riders.
Beyond that rather central challenge, Gerundin has pale skin and black hair, greyish eyes, and a hawkish nose. His grin is naturally crooked, and he wears a single chain around his neck under his work gear. This, while made of finest gold, is a reminder of the shackles he escaped when he and many others of his lot were dispersed to the united Nidusi as children.

Gerundin was born female, and worse, she was born into slavery in the underbelly of Star City. He grew up learning everything he would need to be both a companion and a body-guard to those who might be willing to pay a fee for both... so he has a lot of trauma to unpack on multiple levels.
He was ten when Star City fell, and part of the trafficking ring responsible for his care and sale were smashed apart by the chaos of xenodragons that had exploded across the station. He managed to flee through the vent shafts with several other children, and in fact led the way towards the escape pods that would eventually take him to Nidus Descendi's extensive refugee camp.
Gerundin spent the next few years keeping his head down, trying to escape the notice of anyone who might come looking for unattended slaves, but eventually it became more clear that if anyone was going to come after him, they'd be part of the efforts that Arx Infusco were mustering. He made the decision to become a dragon rider soon after, preferring the goal of being able to defend himself, if his liberty or anyone else's should ever by challenged.
Gerundin was shipped with a passel of other Novos to Nidus Ryslen at the behest of the Flurry, a quasi-annual event producing a prodigious amount of dragon hatchlings. Ryslen had the supply, Descendi needed the extra bodies... at least, that's how Gerundin assumed the event would go. He wasn't expecting an intra-community celebration, and he wasn't really expecting the hope and joy that came with meeting others... or from bonding.
Bonding Gevil'Tezi was the event that finally pushed him over the edge to transition the way he'd never been able to put to words, let alone actions. He still has trouble with processing feelings and with seeing the joy of day-to-day life... but the Flurry changed him in some very material ways that he looks back on with a kind of spiritual awakening. He tries to bring some of that to his leadership, though he has a long way to go.
