It turned out that getting used to it strained her on a subconscious level. Even as an adult, Fara has a distant look to her that she masks with pleasantries and a warm attitude. She won't acknowledge the trauma she feels from being ripped from home, and instead does her best every day to burrow into this new one. To be fair, she is extremely good with her mask, and if asked by others, would be told that she's made genuine friends. It's just that from Fara's point of view there may always be one level removed from her day-to-day life.

Gahoth is much better at hiding her thoughts from Fara than Fara is from Gahoth, however, so the Queen is outwardly peaceable and friendly. Because she is quite a bit smaller than some of the other high ranking dragonesses of the Nidus, Gahoth is seen as more approachable, and so she can almost always be found with a few other dragons talking about day to day life needs, resources, dangers to the nidus, etc. This gives here an insight into the Nidus that the humanoids don't have the scope to keep together, and because of here telepathic link and natural rank, Gahoth quietly runs a good chunk of Nidus happenings without quite realising that she's organizing and smoothing out friction before it becomes tension.
