Appearance: |
Being a Goc-krii, Ak'tik-kaa is an insectine humanoid. he is small for a male of his species, and his entire body, save under his arms and between is legs, is covered with a semi-hard chitin. Much like treated leather, each plate moves with ease over other sections. Each plate is sky-blue, edged with matte black. He's fairly humanoid in shape, having a humanoid torso, two arms and two legs (each of which is edged with stiff bristles) and a head where you'd expect a head to be. His dragonfly-like wings are not nearly large enough for him to fly great distances, but he can use them to create a controlled fall. He has a long, stiff tail, the end of which is where his reproductive organs are hidden.
Ak'tik-kaa's face is far from human. Much of his head is taken up with giant compound eyes that sparkle from citrine to marigold to deep brown, from which he can see in all directions. He has no nose, and his mouth looks much more like an insect's than a human's. His mandibles are fleshy enough to allow him to speak, though such speech is often highly slurred and difficult to decipher. A mane of hair sprouts from the top of Ak'tik-kaa's head that is deep black and surprisingly human-like in its softness. It falls with a slight wave down to his shoulders. His overall build is dainty, and he usually wears very little when he can get away with it. In the cooler months of the Nidus, he dresses up in heavy furs, preferring heated rooms and rarely going outside. |
Personality: |
Ak'tik-kaa is pessimistic about life, even after surmounting some terrible odds -- or perhaps because he had to go through them. He began life as a hated slave, his species reviled for being a half-insect, half-human abomination, and only managed to free himself with a peculiar stroke of good luck. The spider-like Mind Eoc that controlled him and his fellow slaves had fallen ill through a psionically poisonous substance that Ak'tik-kaa accidentally ate, and while its control was loosened, the Goc-krii under its control took their chance to escape. The lot of them killed the small Eoc, at the cost of many of their own lives, and split up once they reached the surface, only to wander the wastes and to waste away, themselves. Ak'tik-kaa managed to make his way to Shivran Aerd, and was immediately taken in and cared for, though because his kind was so rare, he was subject to many exams and experiments at the behest of the Aerd's leader.
Ak'tik-kaa survived, and after a time he bonded Aktta Ga'ac. Eventually the Goc-krii became an accepted member of society until the Aerd was attacked. While many others died, the pair survived by the hair of their mandibles. At that point, Ak'tik chose to flee from Mythicalae altogether, and made his way to Star City station, where he fit in much better... for a time.
He was beginning to make a life for himself amongst a family of Sotiel when the station was attacked for the first time by xenodragons, and most of his family were taken by facehugging parasites. Ak'tik-kaa fled yet again, and now resides at Nidus Descendi, fearing for the next great catastrophe. He cares for his bond, but for little else, finding himself isolated by dint of his own race and the chill of the Nidus, which makes him deeply unhappy... but he's unsure where to go next. |
