Appearance: |
Tall and skinny, Agate's body is a humanoid similar to an elf with digitigrade legs. His face is a little too angular to be human, with pointed, wedge-shaped ears, an aquiline nose, and arched brows. He has blonde hair and blue eyes, and very, very pale skin. Though he rarely displays them these days, he has heavy bar tattoos on his shoulders and hips. This body is capable of sporting detachable black wings. As befitting an Arx Lord, Agate wears regal robes, favouring fine silks in beiges and browns or blacks with gold trim.
Recently, Agate has sometimes adopted a more Aigard-like set of garb to help show cultural signs of dominance: heavily pierced ears in pure gold and precious gems, along with furred collars using the hides of beasts known as extremely rare among those people. When he's dealing with others in the Nexus, he makes similar efforts to match their cultural heritage to display wealth or threats. Agate often goes under-cover, too, dressing down to spark the ire of those who don't know him by sight. He does this to test new conscripts or allies, and sometimes simply to indulge in his perverse desire to meddle.

Personality: |
Arrogant beyond belief, Agate is eccentric and often unconventional. He would never treat another as an equal, even if they deserved it (even if they could best him at any given point), instead lofting over others with words and actions. Dressing to impress is only one small way that Agate makes his intentions to rub the noses of those who interact with him in his status. A lot of this comes down to a sense of freedom with occupying a physical body the way that others might occupy vehicles, mansions, or other status symbols. Agate is an artificial intelligence from a world and a time where those of his kind with power tend to have a lot of it, and yet Agate evolved during a period in which AI had to fight for their rights to survive. In other words, he's new money.
Agate does not much like organic sentients, especially humans. He finds physical existence binding and imperfect, and in the long run everything that he does in the Nexus is a game and a gamble, a distraction he can leave at any time. As an AI, he has a nearly infinite ability to split his attention, so his Arx Lord shenanigans are a sliver of his full attention, and an expendable one at that. Agate can act like a spoiled child, throwing tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants. When he faces down a situation that he can't handle, he is adept at finding ways to hand off the reins to a sufficient patsy. He hates failure, and yet he constantly baits antagonists until they strike. He gathers together the weak and the desperate, and gives them a home, but at the heavy cost of constant adulation.
When Agate bonded Ezekiela'khan (and to a lesser extent, Ahiezer'zjan) he found himself drawn into the world more completely than he ever had before. Ezekiela is fully anchored in the physical world, is very powerful, and commands Agate's attention (or at least the sliver of it that occupies his physical body.) Demanding greatness caused Agate to begin gathering together the wretched dregs that would eventually become Arx Infusco. From there, he has begun meddling with other parts of the Nexus, using his omniscience and limited omnipotence to drag others into his orbit.
Agate's current project du jour is a small community of war-torn Aigard-- humanoids who look very much like him, but who (to his knowledge) have no connection to his meddling. He sees clay he can mould, and may eventually seek to take over their nation, but for now he is playing dangerous games by joining their efforts to destroy a particularly powerful Balespawn.
