Bekea is an ancient creature by most mortal standards, approaching the end of her hundredth life and ascension into a four-winged form, with over 50,000 years of experience behind her and many, many more to go before dying the final death of an Athiyken. She does not wholly remember all of those lives and years, of course, but she is nonetheless well into being jaded with life. Neither cruel nor compassionate, the purpose of her existence is to reap the souls of those who have died and usher (or drag) them to the afterlife they deserve. For the time being, the Athiyk has come to rest aboard the Fate. Between failed experiments, the Red Demon, trespassing Chosen, and ordinary crime on the inhabitants' decks, people are often dying on the ship and Bekea rarely has to wait long for another soul to reap. She is completely disinterested in the purpose of the ship or the motivations of those who run it and those who visit it -- it just happens to be a place where there's always another soul.
