Fey dragons were specially designed to be able to detect all things related to Shy, serving as watchdogs for the man and his Projects alike. Should such a potential threat be determined, they will swarm near the target, keeping it well under survelliance. They will not attack unless provoked or summoned by their sentinel.

Gavin already has a hive of his own to contend with, and Schroeder comes and goes from the Nidus, so it fell to Jigsaw to be the one Ripley was trained to recognize as the person to alert first should the fey dragon hive ever detect something of concern. Named for no particularly fourth-wall-breaking reason, Ripley is not a pet or even a companion to Jigsaw, and most days the Nidus administrator honestly rather forgets the hive is around.
