Elessadian gryphons have the body and hind legs of a lion and the head, wings, and front legs of an eagle-like bird, including owl-like tufts of feathers for ears. They have a fox-like tail, with layers of fur and feathers. In color, they are usually a shade of gold, tawny, brown, bronze, or coppery red-brown. Sometimes they are solid-colored, and sometimes their bird-half and lion-half will show different colors. White and black are also possible, though rare.

Vrrek was born and raised in the mountains, with a pride of his own once he grew to adulthood. He hatched and raised many chicks before he ever saw a human city, but eventually his pride was pushed out of their territory by a rival pride and they had to disband to fend for themselves. That was when Vrrek decided to try out civilization, and he has not looked back since.
