A trio of hatchlings snaked their way towards Proquess a unit, but when they neared, the winged one who led them suddenly reared up with a squeak of dismay! He hurriedly darted another direction, and one of the two bursters went with him.

Those two rushed over to Carskadei, not in the least way intimidated by the dogdra's massive size and headcount, and attempted to crawl up atop one giant paw.

His wingless neuter-sib seemed to agree, though its telepathic sendings had no words. Instead they had more of a breezy feel, like a warm wind running over the dogdra's mind.

It's not the species he has a problem with, but the personalities! Like Carskadei, like his entire breed, he is inherently good, and nearly half of the hive gets his metaphorical hackles up. If Carskadei stays around long enough for Nalchass to grow up, he'll probably wind up in a great many fights as he leaps to defend the nicer hive-members from the crueler.

Personality: Elenass is a xenodragon who tries too hard. She wants so desperately to impress her bond and earn his approval that, if he gives a command, she'll leap to obey it so rapidly that something almost always goes wrong--either she misses the important last part of that command, or she gets so single-minded that she makes a mess of everything else she goes by in order to achieve the final goal. Afterwards, when she's getting chastised, she definitely understands she did something wrong and will go into quite the embarrassed sulk for a while. She can be quite the pitiful thing sometimes, but in all her enthusiasm, she can't help but be lovable.

Personality: Makoss is an oddly serene drone. Amidst the chaos Gavin gets from the majority of his hive, Makoss's composure and tranquility is like a breath of fresh air. If the rest of the hive is in a stir over one thing or another, Makoss is the wordless equivalent of the voice of reason, helping Gavin regain order by impressing its own calmness upon their net of minds. It has a tendency to settle in places for long stretches of time, simply watching--long enough that its carapace is often dusty for moving so infrequently! Its mindvoice is the cool stir of a deep-flowing stream.

Personality: Renoss is a wiry spitfire of a warrior. If he's not asleep, he seems to be totally wired, moving in quick darts and jerky movements, and he absolutely loves a good bit of roughhousing. He also seems to be something of a practical joker, for all his lack of sentience! He loves stealing things away when someone's back is turned and his mindvoice almost seems to cackle when he's discovered and chased down. He'll even mess with people who don't know him, and seems to have a fondness for snatching things off people's heads, such as hats or glasses. Sometimes he even tries to wear them, himself! His mindvoice is hot, crackling like a wildfire.

Personality: Rudess is another quiet, steady xenodragon, alike to Qess or Makoss. His slower movements, however, are those of restrained and confident power. He is far more intelligent than Qess, significantly more active than Makoss, but is still the sort who tends to loom in the background. You know he's there, with all his strength, but at the same time manages to go unnoticed. Rather inexplicably, his spazzy brother Renoss seems to be his best friend among the xenodragons. Rudess is usually the one patiently shaking Renoss off and batting the smaller warrior away whenever he's feeling feisty and wants to rough around. Rudess's mindvoice is not so much a sound or sensation as a presence, powerful and even overwhelming to those unused to him.

Personality: Ashomyss is a very active xenodragon. She's not hyper but she is the restless sort who likes to go out and exercise or engage another dragon in a vigorous bout of playful wrestling. Get her on the wing and she'll push herself to her limits, trying out the most complicated aerial maneuvers she can imagine--not that she always succeeds at them! But whenever Ashomyss fails at something, whether physically or otherwise, she'll just get right back up, brush the (possibly metaphorical) dust off herself, and try again!

Personality: Rakiss sure seems to be awfully finicky. Keep her cooped up in one space, and you'll soon find it reorganized to her liking. She's also very meticulous, always keeping her carapace clean, and she'll groom the other xenos and Keighlai herself if they stay still long enough to let her. Her mindvoice carries a hint of wildflower perfumes.

Personality: Sulass is a far more reserved creature than its bondmates. He's the sort to sit quietly on the sidelines and supervise everything everyone else is doing, to intercede only if it perceives some sort of problem. Leave it around a group of rowdy children and should a youngster take a laughing tumble to the dirt, you'll see Sulass wander over to pick the child up, set them back on their feet, and send them back to do it again. For a genderless warrior, it's awfully parental! Its mindvoice rumbles like distant thunder.

His mindvoice suggests water running over rocks, as if from a natural spring.

Personality: Entherass is extremely easygoing, though not particularly friendly. In fact, it is mostly unresponsive. Like a ragdoll cat, if you pick it up it will go limp, allowing you to do almost whatever you like with it: move it, carry it, pet it, whatever. You can talk to it as long as you like, provided you don't care that you'll only get "uh-huh" and "right" as the occassional response. If not asked or commanded to do something, it will just sit around like a piece of furniture. But if it is harmed, however, or witnesses another in physical danger, Entherass leaps into a violent, kamikaze frenzy. It will stop at nothing to protect others, even total strangers, and would willingly sacrifice its own life if that would serve the greater good.

She carries herself with confidence and self-assurance, and even if she's not quite sentient, she's still intelligent enough to be quite the strategist--at least as far as outwitting and out maneuvering prey goes. Her mindvoice is the almost inaudible whisper of a predator brushing through grass and leaves.

Personality: Poloss is happiest taking orders. He's not a stupid creature, but he does lack in confidence. On his own, he hesitates in his actions, even the cleverest of ones, but if given a command he will act on it without pause and execute it perfectly. He definitely relies on Shadowed Leaf and his sister. Nothing will hurt him harder than displeasing one of them and his behavior will be almost frantic until he earns approval again. His mindvoice brings with it a metallic, almost chemical tang.

Although the pair of hatchlings that squealed their way towards Smuckerss were nowhere near as brightly colored as the grown xenodragon, they were no less lively or friendly! They bounced around his feet upon their long tails, clamoring for his attention--one with a murky-feeling mindvoice, and the other with excited words.

Of course it usually leaves a mess in its wake, so you'd better keep fragile things locked away--or have something like a giant pile of leaves or a sandbox on hand to distract it with, as even simple things can change its focus. Despite its cheerful nature, its mindvoice is cool and murky, as if surrounding any 'listeners' with fog.

Personality: Snickerss is more than a little weird. If Skittless goes around disassembling things, Snickerss follows in its wake and puts them back together--but not as they originally were, oh no! If Skittles managed to break someone's action figure and Snickerss found the remains, she'd glue it back together with resin, but the figure would have its limbs all in strange new places, and might even be decorated with glitter and feathers from that spilled art kit and torn up pillow, to boot! She's also the sort who likes to sneak up on people sleeping and tie ribbons in their hair or decorate their face with creative applications of makeup. Considering that she can't see color, her creations are often as garish as they are hilarious!

Personality: Just because someone has no actual gender one's self--and just because someone can't actually speak, and is more beast-like than sentient--does not mean one cannot be a romantic. Or, perhaps more accurately, a matchmaker. Loruss is just that: a matchmaker. It is much more interested in pushing people together to make with the love--or make babies, or both, it's not picky--than fighting. It is a sucker for any kind of romance at all, even couples already together, and stalks them just to watch them without even trying to hide what it's doing. All in all, though, Loruss is just a bit silly, even without that amusing yet annoying habit, and when it's not plotting romances in its little, wordless brain, it's quite lovable. Its mindvoice is so bubbly it tickles, almost like its thoughts are carbonated!

He is good-hearted and loyal, though he has just about no sense of humor at all, but has a tendency to see everything in shades of gray, rather than black and white, right and wrong, good and evil--something else to turn the yautjadragons against him, no matter how hard he tries to argue for his point of view with them.

There is nothing it loves better than getting a "thank you" out of someone, but it will settle for an "okay, okay, just go away when you're done!" if it has to. Even if it is chased away, it will always come crawling back with hopeful chirps just in case someone changes their mind. Its mental sendings have a strangely mixed sweet-and-sour taste to them.
