Dread Corollary's Flight

Dread was lounging in one of the rooms at Star City, in her anthro form. She had been rather enjoying herself these past weeks, wandering the place and spending her mother's credits--though for the life of her she was unsure just HOW Dark was able to transfer her silverscale over to usable credit here. Staying in anthro form kept her desire to fly quelled, as, though she didn't want to admit it, nervous. It would be her first actual flight. What if things went wrong?

"Dread, dear, you worry too much," Dark told her, "Instinct will take over, your body will know what to do when it's time."

"Well, yah, but what if I don't have the right insticts...I'm the result of a fusion," Dread frowned, sitting on the edge of the bed. Dark just rolled her eyes, "You know whorlings don't exactly..well..mate..."

"You aren't a whorling, you're my daughter, it doesn't matter if it's from fusion or not, and I'll be there to make sure nothing goes wrong..." Dark said. Dread started to argue the point, but stopped. Her tail twitched slightly, and Dark watched for a moment, before saying, "It's getting through the anthro shift, isn't it?"

Dread just nodded, "I..I think so."

"I'll see when the Flight Deck is open..." Dark said, and out the door she went.

They were in luck, the Deck was open, and relatively empty. Relatively, of course, considering there were still dragons around, though this would probably be the first 'outside' flight since Star City closed its doors. Dread was going through the setup, still in anthro form, and she could see the males that had been signed up to fly with her. There was two bipedras, the darker Dendax with his intriguing metal head and the pale Shishayair, a dogdra who looked cute and fluffy but Dread could tell that he was probably anything but. She purred at them as she walked by, then at the catdragon whorling Leivin, who practically glowed. Dread grinned, there would be at least one of these males that knew what he was doing. Fabrymunego Nightspark was a long, sinuous and very pretty male that had definitely caught Dread's attention, and last but not least there was the fluffy Taze-jes, though Dread had never heard of his species before...Schattarneki or something like that. With one last grin, the anthro catdragon headed towards the hatch, and lept out.

And landed on the Flight Deck floor, waiting. She shifted to her dragon form, and purred, instinct started to take over. Leivin circled down and landed a couple yards away, ears perked, rrrr-ing in response to Dread's call.

Up above the Flight Deck in the observation area, Dark was watching, as she said she would, though it looked like Dread wasn't going to need any help at all. She glanced around, and saw something white. A Xenodragon? Why would one be watching a flight? Dark moved over, ignoring the scowl...she'd imagine the xenodragon would be glaring if they had eyes. When Dark didn't back down, the xeno went back to glaring at the flight below. Or pre-flight, as Dread was still on the ground, meowing and purring, rolling around and swishing her tail playfully. A couple of the males had small scratchmarks on their snouts--their 'reward' for moving in too quickly. Dark smirked, then glanced over at the xenodragon. She seemed...jealous? Well, that's what Dark was getting from her, at any rate. "Want to talk about it?" Dark asked. The Xenodragon stayed silent, but Dark got a definite 'Not fair, not fair' from her mind.

Definitely jealous, in Dark's view. And from her glare, it seemed directed at the pale dogdra--well, more like the fact that he was showing interest in Dread.

There was a LOUD hiss, and an angry snarl, and Dark quickly looked back down. "Oh...I was hoping THAT particular instinct wouldn't kick in...."

Below, Dread was yowling angrily at the pale Shishayair. "Get OUT! Get AWAY! DOG! DOG!" she screamed, her tail lashing like a whip, all six snake heads joining her main head in their hissing. "I will NOT mate with you! DOG! Get AWAY!" She lunged at him, snakes striking, but luckily--for him--they only hit his furry ruff. She continued to do this until finally the dogdra retreated, hissing back as he flew away. "I'd sooner mate with your BOND than you!" Dark winced at that, scanning the dogdra to see just who his bond was...and then looked at the xenodragon beside her, who was still glaring at Dread--this time for attacking her bond, Dark assumed. Dark smirked, and reached over, touching the white's shoulder. "Don't worry--she wouldn't have hurt him unless he really had pushed his luck--and I would have literally pulled him out before that happened. In these things, it's always the female's choice."

Who are you? Dark heard the xenodragon finally ask.

"Dread's mother..." Dark replied, and left to find a different place to watch the rest of the flight. Best not to be there when a rather irate bipedra came to join his bond.

Dread was already in the air when Dark got her attention back on the flight, and it seemed nothing else would go wrong. The catdragoness was playfully twisting and turning in the air, letting a male get close before flying off in a burst of speed. Finally she flew upwards, then straight down into a rather surprised Fabrymunego. Dark worked her powers--the only way she was 'interfering' with the flight--to slow their descent.

Taze-jes had flown off in disappointment, and Dendax was about to too, though he saw the catdragon Leivin sticking around, landing on the ground and waiting. You think you have a chance? the bipedra snorted, landing nearby. She's already chosen..

"Fah, obviously you know nothing of our kind..." Leivin snorted. As soon as Fabrymunego and Dread had untangled themselves from each other, the catdragon was in the air--and Dread was flying away, upwards, laughing playfully. Dendax took off after, but Leivin had too much of a headstart, and Dread willingly let herself be caught by the glowing dragon. Snorting, the bipedra flew off, landing on a ledge. Beaten, TWICE in the same flight....

"You still game?" a voice purred beside Dendax, as Dread had landed beside him on the ledge he was fuming on, "One does save the best for last, yes?"

With a purring laugh, Dread launched herself from the ledge, the metal-headed bipedra in pursuit.

It was a few hours before Dread returned to her room, once again in anthro form. Dark was already there, a smirk on her face. "Was it that bad?" Dread winced, "I mean, if I had known I'd react that way to that one male..."

"Don't worry about it, any other flights you do, we'll be sure to keep any dog or wolf dragons away," Dark said, then snerked, "Would rather mate with his bond, eh?"

"I can't believe I said that..." Dread said, blushing under her fur, "I mean, I've seen them around--his bond's a xenodragon. A female xenodragon..." Dread shook her head, sitting on the bed, "And you're sure staying in this form will delay the eggs? I'd hate to have to lay them when there's no place to do so--this room is not large enough for my dragon form..."

"Positive...and you worry too much," Dark said, "I'll have to leave soon--I have some...erm...work to do at home. I will be here for the hatching, and I'll come check on you. Your babies will be fine."

Dread looked up and smiled, still slightly aglow from her experience. Nothing had gone really wrong, nothing would go wrong. Though she did wonder just what kind of work her mother was going to do...

Whatever it was, Dread was sure it would be....interesting.
