Origins

History

These simple yet powerful and highly inteligent creatures are well known throughout Anarendor. They're origin is very unclear though some claim that they came from Narda. Spell Weavers (also called ?? by the Elves of Kilbranra), are lithe and streamline in build and shape. They have little special physical features about them though they are one of the species to have actuall a soft hide that is more skin like then the other species of Anarendor. They suffer from simular issues that Pernese dragons do, with itchy, flaky skin that is really bad in their first few years as they grow. Unlike Pernese dragons, Spell Weavers don't need the same ecessive care to keep them happy. It's uncomfortable but bathing and rocks often aid them in their first years. Because they remain with a small band of other Spell Weavers, baby dragons tend to be cared for by the adults.

Spell Weavers are best known for there brillant spectrum of metalic colorations. Anything from antique gold to pale silver. Rare colors include the varations of "black" and "white" as well as green, which loses the metalic luster due to the G and g genes. (Any Weaver with G or g in it's hide isn't as brillant in metalic hue). As these three rare colors have a high fatailiyt rate which prevents many from even hatching, there is little problems with them happening. Truth be told, many black, white or green Weavers find that they are not as welcome in a band because of there rare color. Weavers are not going to kill a hatchling (unlike the Sun Warriors), just because they are different. They do, however, try to convince them not to breed in fear that terrible mutations could happen because of it.

Though they are a scare breed, Weavers are friendly and perfer the company of humans, elves and the other Races when they can. Most live close to villages and cities as self-apointed protectors. Others live in the villages or cities as citizens. They have a highter bodning rate then most other species though the horomone for Bonding only lasts a few hours so few people are able to make it to Hatchings. Weavers are average in size amount the other species, ranging 5'6" to 7'6" in average height though they may be as tall as 8' or as small as 5'. They also have a longer maturity rate then the other species, reaching full height and maturity at three years but not becomeing sexually inclinded until they are over 5 years.

Weavers cannot use "normal" magic. They are natural spell-mages who can only control magic through the use of spoken or thought spells. Incantations and runes are also common for them to use when fighting or protecting. They are better at barriers, sheilds and even healing then some of the others. Because they're abilities are spell based, they have no set element on which they can use. Spells are second nature to Weavers. Upon hatching, they can use intermediate spells and control magic with ease. While they can teach humans to use spells, too, even if they themselves are never instructed. Weavers are very intelliegent, have very long-term memories, and can remember more things then any human could. It was once thought that Weavers re-incarntated themselves. The Kijana would be the first to state that this isn't so - and prove that it isn't.

Physical Appearance

Colors

They have a metalic base coat which produces colors like gold, bronze, brass, copper, and silver. Shades of these colors vary though no color is "ranked" above the other. Weavers often do not fight amoung themselves for ranks though they earn it with respect and proof of leadership. However, most battles that take place amoung there kind often end in death.

The only "rare" colors are that of the white, black and green. Black and white are never true colors, as the gene that causes these colors only darkens or lightens the pigment of the hide enough so that it's too pale or dark to be a pale version of the color. Thus, the colors are called white silver, white gold, black copper, or black gold. It may be hard to determine which color the Weaver is which is why most people see them all as simply white and black. Green is a true rare and one that, though not highly regarded as special amoung Weavers, is a color that is lucky.

There is a protine in the genetic codes BB, bb and G/g that will either lessen or erase the metalic sheen of a white, black or a dragon that has G or g in its code. A dragon with Rg is not as shinny as a dragon with RR, Rr, ect. If they are BB or bb, they not metalic at all.

Abilities

verbal speech - can speak out loud (languages known determined by rider)
plane shifting - uses the Aurora Plane to travel to other locations if needed
natural magic - has limited amount of magic in blood; can draw upon outside power
spell-bound - can only control the magic in his/her blood with spells

Breeding, Clutching, and Bonding

Mating and Clutching

Spell Weavers mate for life, if they choose one. They are one of the few species that "fall in love". Devoted until they are sperated by death, there bonding to their mate is stronger over time. If their mate dies, the Weaver may choose to die with them or go on but never take a mate. Within the bands, which often range from 3 to 8 Spell Weavers, there may be several mated pairs that may all clutch in a given year. The time of year often doesn't matter. Mate for life if they choose to take a mate. Will not mate if there mate dies. Often has a flight just for the chase, but mates on the ground unlike most of the dragons. Clutches are always small, ranging from 2 to 4 eggs.

Bonding and Training

Spell Weavers don't like bonding to anyone but there own kind but they will pair up with a human (or other race) if they feel like a friendship can be formed. They don't have as much of the chemical found in the blood of others species that allow for bonding. Spell Weavers are solo workers, even in the Dragonries. They assist in teaching the use of spells but no one can ever master a Spell Weaver for it is all they know. Spells are instictive to them and, while they can teach it, no one ever teaches them. They know how to weave spells without training from the day they hatch.

Naming Styles

Always a two-worded name such as RedMoon, GoldSun, BlackMagic, or WishFire. They choose there name at hatching.

Genetic Codes

Last Used Genetic Code (will be undergoing modifcations, I'm sure...)

Color Base
R: red & r: blue
RR is for a resiliant red coppe
Rr becomes a dull form of copper.
rr is for a blue silver

Dilution Genes
Y - yellow dilution, adds more of a yellow or golden hue to the given gene. y also give color but not a lot, the pigment give a suttle change.
RY becomes a redish gold; Ry becomes an orange copper
Yr becomes a greenish bronze shade; ry becomes a greenish silver
YY and Yy are normal gold; yy is pale golden yellow

G - green dilution, adds a more greenish tinge to the color. g gives a less noticable change in pigmentation.
RG becomes bronze, Rg is still copper
Gr becomes a greenish silver; rg becomes silver
YG becomes bronze, Yg becomes a varnished gold, yg a very pale bronze

GG and gg are fatal and the dragonet will die before hatching, or shortly after hatching. Gg is the only one that has a 50/50 chance of making it to adult hood.

H is a hue gene that can only affect R or r which dilutes them the same way y is a weak form of Y.
H - no effect on the genes, they remain the same original hue.
h - lightens R to a pale red and r to a pale blue. This can cause pale silver, pale copper and pale brass.

B - Black gene, which acts on all colors. B is black and b is white and are co-dominate.
BB is for black, which darkens the color of the hide to near black
bb is for white, which lightens the color of the hide to near white
Bb is nuteral and has no effect.

BB and bb are considered fatal - the fetus dies before it hatches, resulting in a dud egg.
You can never get a true black or white with the Weavers, but you can get very close.

Eye Color
Eyes are either gold or silver and depend on the base color or the dilute gene colors (if they are the only ones present).
R and Y/y have gold eyes
r and G/g have silver eyes.
If you get RG, YG, the eyes become a bronze color.
If you have Rg, use strongest pigment. gy and ry have blue eyes.

Other colorations are typical, XY/XX for gender, SS, Ss, and ss for size (large, average, small). MM, Mm, and mm for amount of magic (high, medium, low).
