Boya! Got it! I went back and copy-pasted all the other before and after info from the gen Dray made for the wolves and like magic it worked. Dur...Though, I must thank Dreamweaver for pointing out that the code in the part was wrong. Heh...Occasionally, my mac can be usefull.

Anyway, here it is though I really made it for my own enjoyment. It's not to detailed, however. :)

EDIT: I noticed some things I still need to fix, like a double period at the end and somewhere it's still looking for HUMAN-HEIGHT which should be HEIGHT *rolls eyes at it* Also Gnomes apparently don't have families? Yeah..will add that...heehee

Hey, Shard? Do you know how to insert line-breaks into generators? :\ Mine all comes out in one long paragraph and I'd like to be able to divide the stuff up into seperate ones, but it doesn't seem to like HTML <br>'s or <p>'s!

The command is \r and you can put any letter after it, so there's no space.

So instead of having "blahblah blah textRunonsentance that should be separated," it'd be "blahblah blah text\rRunonsentance..." and that would physically split it in the results. :)

At any time, anyone can feel free to swipe code or lists from my generators, too, don't worry about that. I have spent endless hours (usually at work) making lists of colors and animals and stuff. That's work that hey, I've done it, why would anyone else need to . :) The carramba and zekiran generators in particular, have that kind of thing. Zekira has a TON of number-generator lists, because it's a breakdown of die rolls *in ranges* (so a number from 50-110, or from 30-70).

I think there is also a way to put in a double quote " mark, but I can't remember how off the top of my head. It's probably another \ mark, - mm, let me check the dragon-event generator.

Yeah - here:
aVocab[intCat][1][intIncr++]="\"Breaking news of the day! In <LOC> <LAND>, <TIME>... \r\r <EVENT> \r\r We now return you to your regular programming.\""

That \ mark is very important. :)

Oh wow, thanks, Shard! XD I should have asked you ages ago, since I've been wanting to do that for a long, long time!

Speaking of asking for advice, do you know if there's a better way to make the generator pick one option more often then another, other then just repeating the line of code for the one that you want to be more common? That'd save a lot of lines of code, for me!

Not that I know of. I don't think that this particular script can do that, weight the results. So I just recopy.

I haven't tried it yet but you can also do without the repetitions of aVocab... and just put I think.... , or ; between each item, but that means they're all on one line and I myself prefer to see them in a long row instead. Makes looking for specific things much easier. (and when a generator is as big and bulky as mine tend to get, the easier it is to search downward for one item, the better...)

If you check through some of the linked generators at Seventh Sanctum, a couple people use that system instead of the list, but like I said, I like it as a list better.

Rats, it'd be so neat if I could just say 'pick this one this many times' to the code so I get something to show up a lot more often then the others, instead of pasting the same line out a dozen or so times (in some cases!)

Have you found that the generator tends to pick more of one variable then another, when there are only a couple of choices? I've seen it when I make a male and female section... if I put the female after the male, I get a lot more of them showing up in clutches and the like! XD It's weird!

Heh...I would love to find a generator/code that would allow you to put in some information, like color, type, magic of...oh, say, wolves, and along with the typical information, you are able to gerneate litters. Though, it would have to not use bloodlines that the parents don't have. Been meaning to search for that, though...

Probably an excel spreadsheet would do that, Hydee once made one for the Ferilons but I don't know how to use excel so I have *no* clue how it works. Only in theory, and not in practice. :)

Yakima, that's exactly what I do for the BWR clutches, actually! I have to make a new gen for each clutch/litter, but that's how I get the colours, abilities, and personality of each. The colours (but not the patterns, since I'm lazy) are usually mapped out so that it picks a variable from everything from siblings to great-grandparents on both mother's and father's sides. X3

Here's an example, if you're curious:

http://deviant-uprising.com/dray/BWR/ombxcam.htm

(Nothing too fancy, layout-wise, since I only use it the once! And now that Shard's showed how to make line-breaks, I won't have to use that silly '//' symbol to seperate them visually. XD Woot!)

Heh...actually I was thinking more of where you could go in, put the information of the parents (color, magic, bloodlines), and you can click to generate a pup using the parents information and have the possibility of using the colors and magic (based on bloodlines) show up, too - like my dice one that you based your wolf gen on...I tried searching for the code but it's eluding me and I don't feel like going to a 1000+ paged searched in google to find one...stupid internet...never makes things easy to find! :P

Actually it'd be a bit of work, but you could make a page with certain preset parents, and choose to click on one of them - which would lead to only one of several generators on the page.... waaay too much work. :D

Yeah...and would confuse me to heck. I just got my one working and somehow while I was editing it it stopped working...grr...bad generator! *smacks it* Have no clue what I did to it either...*shrug* Though I can snag the HTML back from the working one online and refix it...heh. Just been to lazy to.

But I'm sure there is a script that one can do that, like a form like...*plays in PSP* this!:

Image

You would put in that type of information (maybe height, too) and where ever the gen has PARENTwhatever, it puts that information in and the breed and magic information would limit it to whatever type it is. Elruvian might be harder as the only magic type allowed for the offpsring is what the parent(s) are...

well, I can dream, right! :P

You can kinda make Excel do that, Yakima. You'd have to have boxes for typing in the breed, colour, magic and so on, but after that, you'd just have a set of formulas that uses that information. It'd generate a new one every time you reload the spreadsheet or switch back from a different spreadsheet. Of course, you need to know how to use IF's in your formulas...

Hmm...I don't have Excel on this computer, only spreadsheet (if they're different) but I have it on my mac. Though, I never did get formula's to work because no one showed me how. Well, I was years ago but I forgot...:( :P

I can probably help you out with that, assuming Spreadsheet works in the same was as Excel. You'll end up with some pretty long formulas, but basically the way it works is you have boxes for putting in the details you want, and then you use IF statements to determine which cells you want to access.

I'll see if I can put an example together, so you can see how it works, if you like?

I made a winged wolf litter generator using Excel. It takes into account the parents colours, breed and (if Elruvian) magic, to create a litter of six random puppies. I used your HTML Wolf Generator as a base for the colours and magic. The formatting isn't totally perfect, but it's all readable and understandable. Enjoy?

http://shiolar.merseine.nu/runal/wolf_gen.xls

Edit - It also works for half-breed parents, up to quarter-bred puppies. Although naturally you probably wouldn't want such puppies with 4 types of magic... Use your discretion on intrepretation of the data the generator gives...

*happy fangirl squeel*
*And by fangirl i mean of the language perl not of myself*

I finally finished my first generator. Had to upload it to my before-now unusued school webspace because my domain provider doesn't have perl support, but I am excited nonetheless. Haven't bothered to make the html all pretty so it's very bare bones at this point but the point is it generates. And it's shiney.

So without further ado, meet the Draco Prime Alien Generator:

Pretty cool - though I have no idea what any of the species are supposed to look like. Maybe a link on the click page to descriptions? :) Nice work, though!

Yay! I finally got one to work! Of course it was a simple, easy one. Need to play with the info a bit more as I did a lot of copy-paste from the first Anarian Generator but here is a Halfling Generator! :P

I created an anthropomorphic dragon generator. This one gives you short, random physical descriptions for anthro dragons, which I seem to have an obsession with. ^^

http://www.mysticalplace.com/anthrogen.html

Examples:

This is a male anthropomorphic dragon. He is 4'8 tall and has aqua skin. He has short, wavy light red hair and bright blue-violet eyes. He dresses in unique clothing; preferring to wear contrasting colours.

This is a female anthropomorphic dragon. She is 6'7 tall and has faintly metallic periwinkle skin. She has waist-length, rather messy deep olive green hair and piercing pink eyes. She dresses in formal wear; preferring to wear dark colours.

This is a male anthropomorphic dragon. He is 6'10 tall and has violet skin. He has shoulder-length, curly cyan hair and calm gold eyes. He dresses in whatever fits; preferring to wear light colours.

This is a female anthropomorphic dragon. She is 7'0 tall and has light pink skin. She has low back-length, fine violet hair and mischevious yellow-orange eyes. She dresses in whatever fits; preferring to wear the colour black.

Warning: Very Random. :D

Okay, this is giving me no end of trouble and it's ticking me off. Since Shiolar's wolf litter generator disappeared, I decided to make one for myself. Except I can't get the stupid thing to work. I've combed through it and even rewrote the entire thing, and it's still not working. Can someone help me? Am I doing the code wrong or something? :?

To my browser's view source, almost all of your closing " quote marks are "italicized" instead of normal. That may have something to do with it. Maybe try just 'replace all' and stick a normal " mark in there? Otherwise it doesn't look like anything is missing.

A few quick generators I feel like sharing though they were created mostly for me when putting up stat sheets for Falasian characters. :P

Pernese Dragon Size Generator - Give the length and height of a Pernese dragon as well as what color's size range they would be in.

Falas NPC Stat Generator - I plan on using this when I need to fill up a clutch or now as I page NPC characters from past clutches and what-not. It's very simple as I only put the information I needed in there so you really can't make a candidate with it. Heh...

I'm trying to get the rest done...but they take so long. I probably won't start the other generators till I start working on the character pages for those places. :P The generators for Anar are going to kill me...expecially the Selkari which I will probably save for last because by then I should be really good at making the darn things to the point where I can combine them instead of making one for each race (which is what I want to do in the first place :D).

Generators are fun...if not a pain when they start NOT working....:P
