"I didn't know that dragons could bond to other dragons," Kiermessyt remarked, reaching for his notebook and pencil once again so that he could note this down. It might be important, after all. He turned his gaze back in the direction of the hatching, watching the eggs and the father of the clutch for a few moments to see if there was any more activity. There didn't seem to be, not yet. So he looked back at Ealen. "How did you come to be a Candidate here, then?" he asked, pencil held ready to take notes; it didn't occur to him at all that the boy might not want his story to be published as part of a newspaper article.

Ealen frowned. "You didn't? Wierd. I came to be a candidate here because I let slip that I'd like a dragon. So, moronic Fin'rl and his stupid brown decided that this place was perfect and brought me here." He glared down at the piece of floor, as if he could melt it with his eyes.
