Monitor died :(

Boo hiss. Last night while I was trying to load my 'real game' of coh (I'd been on for ages making characters for my next bonding group) the screen brought up the load image and then faded - quickly - to white. A pretty, bright, pearlescent shiny white.

And then dropped to grey, and then down to that 'I've got image-burn on the bottom from the control bar' greenish-black.

And then the little monitor light said 'yellow - uh oh'. Boo.

So I didn't know whether it was my monitor or the video card. Didn't smell anything but couldn't confirm until this morning at work, because we plugged it in and got my screen up correctly at work. So, no bad video card, but... gotta get a new monitor on my way home from work tonight. Meh.

Heh - it's not like I haven't gotten about 70% of my dragoning work done AT work these days though... Yesterday I was so freaking bored here I made an entire new site by hand.

Anyway, that's why I wasn't on last NIGHT, but everything should be okay by evening tonight. I can't believe I killed a monitor...

It happens to all of us at one point in time or another. :D Something about computers ensures that the one part that is most necessary will die when you need it. At least you can fix the problem easily enough. It took the combined efforts of me, my dad and my little brother three days to figure out we had TWO monitors running and only one hooked up. We had to disable the other before things would start working right.

I had a monitor go wrong once... not mine, fortunately... but imagine how hard it is to colour a picture on computer when blue is the only colour that actually shows on the monitor?

At least a monitor is fairly quick and easy to replace. My own computer has a habit of killing its motherboards. Notice the plural. I think I'm on my fourth motherboard now. Although with that said, the most recent one was a necessary upgrade rather than a replacement. It's the principle of the thing, though...

Got my new monitor... 350$ for a 19" lcd flat, its.... sooo nice...

Big and bright. I wonder if it'll have any compatibility issues with coh.

I doubt it. I'm running an lcd and it works just fine.
