A proposal - Candidate Writing Week

Because we're all swamped, apparently, with putting up our giftie dragons and running flights....

I propose that we dedicate a week long span to just writing. No giveaways, no frenzies and flight requests, just - writing.

Not a challenge, not a specific 'write this' but just to allow us to get some candidates written and uploaded. Heck, maybe 10 days, since most of us can work only on the weekends (and then sometimes can't upload).

It seems to me that we're all quite behind on getting *quality* writing out there. I know I am. I *mean* to finish all kinds of things. I copped out on my elves for the jewel crests, I meant to have much more than a series of stats. I have 5 characters for Thaell Aayath, but only 2 have stories so far, and I started those MONTHS ago.

How about we schedule a kind of "artistic down-time" for those of us who REALLY need the time to write instead?

This could also include the long-needed hatching stories, flight stories, etc that some of us (coughMEcough) have been wanting to do.

The problem is my inspiration for writing comes and goes (and never stays long.) Even if I promised myself to work on candidates, I still don't know if I'd actually get anything done. I'm really bad about procrastinating that way. ^.^;

That's been my problem too. My inspiration went with me on vacation and didn't come back with me.

Well, maybe the just-artists could work on other things they need to do.

I rather like this idea of candidate-writing spree. Personally. It'd let me finally finish stuff...and start stuff that needs to be started... x.x And write post-hatching stories... etc etc.

Well, there's the parents lists, but they're boring, and I'm missing more URLs than I like--which is why I'm slacking. Though I think because I'm slacking, those that had gotten a hold of me, and I gave extentions to, are slacking as well.... >.<

You could always use this writing week to come up with more give aways. :3 We'll likely be eager for them once we're all done updating.

Yeah, I know there are a couple folks who just... dooooo faster than the rest of us.

But it could be just a nice downtime break for everyone scrambling. Update week, really.

I really, really like this idea.

O_o I may not get a lot of writing done, per say, but it seems like a nice, week-long break from dragoning that I could really use. I'd like to work on other things, and lately I've felt that the Nexus is sucking me in to the point where my online experience consists of: "Check the Nexus forum - Check Livejournal - Check the Nexus forum - talk on AIM - Check the nexus forum - set up some giveaways FOR the Nexus forum - check the nexus forum"..... etc. x_x I get addicted too easily.

So... in short, PLEASE! Give me a chance to go and recuperate without missing ten-thousand fancy prizes/stories/hatchings/frenzies etc! XP I need a break!

Okay, I'm all for a break...but does this mean that if we declare a break we're not allowed to post giveaways? I'm kinda a slave of my inspiration and if I go into drawing/coloring mode I don't want to have to wait (and risk forgetting!) to post the images for my giveaway...*shrugs*

I like the idea of not having to check the board though because I'm like Dray...check the forum...watch twenty minutes of movie...check the forum...watch more movie and play some video games...pause...check the forum...play....pause...check the forum...

It's getting ridiculous! *L*

Well, it wouldn't be so bad for me if I was working, but I'm not, not until the first of August (though I occasionally go to see a movie or shopping or...stuff like that. If I wasn't here, I'd just be goofing off somewhere else.

Well, I do have to finish cleaning the apartment ^.^;; But we've been working on that

Yes! That sounds like a great idea. I have been worried recently that writing candidates is sort of a dying art. And since candidate writing is by far what I'm best at in dragoning, that's rather alarming! All the nice free dragons are great, but it would be awesome just to be able to write candidates and send them everywhere. And to save traditional bonding, damnit!

I agree with the break so I can get caught up but my Muse is a ditz and instead of me forcing her to work for me, I kinda have to wait until she gets bored enough to write something. (Heck, I was lucky enough to get her writing the other night when I working on Raayah's new page...rewrote the search to make it shorter and just plain get to the point...and make it interesting with Skiel...(PS, Skiel and Raayah are my CaerLeaders if you didn't know).

But I know already I'm never going to be caught up but if people stopped with cool clutches, giveaways I might have more time. My problem is getting Segs (and myself) to concentrate. (Of course, with my computer going spastic with adware and junk and waiting to get it fixed till who knows when, it might be a while before I do anything but play games and post...

Well, how about the last week of July? After the exchange dragons are due, and probably before a couple other dates we've got?

Ignore me...just grouchy because I have things to scan and draw and can't until my computer is healthy again...maybe thursday I can bring it in...hmmmmm................

sounds great to me ^_^ Would give me a chance to finish some stories I've had mulling around half-finished for a while XD
And then perhaps we should, at one point, have an art-only week? Once we see how the writing-only week goes?

Personally, I'd like to get this over with as soon as possible. A week of 'not art' is not gonna get any 'quality' writing out of me--I'm not a writer, nor do I really want to be one.
