I found out via the inter-tubes that Anne McCaffrey passed away today I know some in this community had their disagreements with her and her lawyers, but many (most?) of us came here through Pern fandom, and I think we can all agree that she was a huge influence on the community as a whole. She will definitely be missed
She apparently died of a massive stroke at home at the age of 85. What a way to go.
I may not have liked most of her works past a certain point, but that was a part of my childhood, and it's almost as shocking as hearing that Brian Jacques is dead.

I did not know that. I guess there was a part of me that thought she couldn't die...ha. I wonder if they're going to make the movies now? Not that they'll really be as good as the books but...yeah. And while I don't mind Todd McCaffrey's books, they'll never be like his mothers. *sigh*
O_o I can't say that I wouldn't mind if they made a Pern-based movie or trilogy. It would probably be pretty messed up from the books, but it's been so long since I've read them, I'm not sure I'd mind!
