Nexus Night Before Christmas 2010

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the Nex-ouse
There were all of three users logged in for once, what a turn-out!
Giveaways simmered gently in the background
People still signing up (though the clock was on countdown)

And Dray and I for once sitting together on Christmas,
Both on our laptops, with the tall tree between us
With a low fire warming my cold little toesies
(it's cold here in Canada in winter, don'tcha'knowsies)

I sat and I thought about all things dragoning
And the year that had passed, and the new one soon dawning
With a pause, now and then, to refresh our shared forum
I considered the ways to bring back some warumth

I miss the days of agencies and clutches
Of newbies and stories and competitive rushes
To win Flurry white, or be Queen of the weyr
When clutches were small and frenzies were rare

With Tris'hath, Mythicalae, and yes even Pern,
When rather than given the rare you did earn
When worlds were well loved and deeply immersed
And the forum a hub, not the site of commerce

But all of us here are now older and busy,
Housewives or students with lives in a tizzy
We need new blood in the Nexus to become long-lastin',
New kids with bad stories and free time and passion

We know how this place will draw you in
And keep you returning again and again
Oldbies disappearing for ages, then re-emerging
We rarely get fewer for good, just in passing

This place can get lively again, I propose
Christmas gets me musing (and writing prose)
I love this little internet family of friends
I want to see us grow to be lively again

So tonight, regulars, between kindly give'ways,
And oldbies who may stop by in the next couple days
Maybe think back to dusty nidii and weyrs
And stories you loved, and how you got there...

This year has... a moral to the poem?! :O

You know, this gives me an idea. 83 It's not a revolutionary one or one that's going to get people signing up in droves... but one thing that I loved about the Nexus was all of the world info that people had for their agencies. *pitterpatters off before bed to post it up!*

... This place, like several other online home-away-er...in-homes has helped to keep me sane, or perhaps help me along there

Love it, JKat...*hugs Falas Weyr* No matter how many new locales I create (Treval, Alair, The Oddessy) I will never forget my first and the one I shared in those years before (which, would have been about 10 years ago for me! wow...)

(weird, for once our family is opening gifts ON Christmas rather then on Christmas eve...*blinks*) *scampers off to get giveaway done...* If only I had redrawn the Il'arta BEFORE this! Oh well, you'll all have to settle for the old one.
