My mom had to head to the emergency room and be admitted to the hospital this morning at 3... yeah, 3 freaking am... so I'm blown. I don't even really know what they have found, they were supposed to have called me after I left the emergency room and would transfer her to another hospital. So, I don't really know what's going on right now, if I'm here I'll try and get on the chat monday, if not, that's probably why.

So I went to the hospital, they moved her to the icu of another place, which is fine, because she'll be at that hospital probably a week or so. Low blood pressure and a massive infection *somewhere* they're not sure quite where.

She was carrying around 2 liters of urine.

Like, it wasn't gas making her feel like she had to go to the bathroom... it just wasn't passing. She had a 104 temp when they got to my house, but it was down around 100ish by the time I left at 5 in the morning... I am so tired. I can't believe it's already almost 6 pm, my internal clock is so messed up.

My step-sister's grandmother had to go into the ER tonight. Other then that i really don't know what's going on. heh. *hugs Shard*

two litres?! I'm imagining holding a two litre milk carton's worth of liquid and that just sounds impossible. Holy cow!

Shard, I give your mom my condolences. Yowwie! I'm glad that her temperature's coming down, though... and hopefully your internal chronometre will get fixed soon!

I think so...the Old People Convention or something. >.< [Correct Terms would be: Senior Citizen Convention, though] A friend of mine from work has her mom in the hospital, too. *faceplam*

An update

So what was it, monday when all this went down, and by early thursday morning they were ready to move my mom from the hospital (she'd been transferred out of ICU on ... wednesday? I don't even know any more) into a nursing facility for physical therapy.

That went okay, she's in the same facility - with different owners and leadership - that my grandmother stayed in for 12 years while I was growing up. Now... I *loathe* nursing homes for that reason. But they are trying to get it to be more rehab-oriented than long-term care. As attrition takes the older residents, they just don't fill those beds with more long-term care people.

So... bring her there, settle her in, come home and toss more boxes (I'll have a photo up in deviantart sometime soon) and then try and get some sleep. it's trash day this morning so I want to be as asleep as possible when they come because it's right outside my window where the trash is.

... And at 230 am they call me from the facility, she's fallen and has been sent BACK to the emergency room for a check up and status. She's got a massive (egg sized and shaped) bruise on her forehead, and extra bruises (at least now the social worker can see that it's not "abuse bruises" and just "daily wear and tear on a very bruisable woman")... and an alarm for her bed when she tries to get up and do things without calling for the nurses like she's supposed to.

So at 6 again, I get the call, she's ready to go back to the nursing home. Since it'd be 150 bucks for the ambulance, I have been transporting her for those things. Ugh.

So I'm up at 6 and dressed and have her there, and then at 2 had a meeting and greeting with the social worker, therapist and such and signed in all the stuff for her admittance to the place officially. I am so goddamn tired of getting up early...

They increased her Prozac level so hopefully that will help her personality issues (which are pretty terrible, actually) and with luck they'll be able to get her to re-learn how to do normal things without doing them "her way". (like bending at the waist for picking stuff up, instead of the knees, like picking at her ass to get poo out... oi.) Getting her strength back will be long going, but necessary. She can't really even lift like half a gallon of milk without shaking, so she's needed help for a while. I just wish I'd known she was that sick before now.

It was an e-coli infection in the bladder that spread to her blood (likely, I think, due to her picking constantly at her ass, which also has left her rear end very chapped and raw, and getting treatment too), and that probably had been around for 2 months or so, if I recall how long it's been since she was really up and about.

So my sleep has been absolutely fucked recently, along with lol the CATS darn cats who want to sleep on my pillow WHILE I AM SLEEPING... heheh I'm like, furkdingblast cat move your fuzzy ass...

Ah well, so that's where I'm at. Trying to get some art done, and crossing my fingers that I can get some legal help with opening the account my mom's insurance company refused to allow us to withdraw from, because it's more than enough to actually HELP us, but they won't let us have it probably because it was some kind of court-ordered settlement that she signed on for. beh.

Ye gads, sounds like she was in bad shape all around! I hope that they manage to help her. I hope that you also manage to finally get some decent sleep!

Yeah she'd been declining for a while, I mean she's 82, so it's kind of inevitable. I'm getting really tired of the early morning and dawn phone calls, though. :/
