The sad thing, though, is that none of those options offer an out, only a constant cycle of running from zombie-infested area to zombie-infested area. Eek.

Well, in a way that's what's going to happen at Falas. Except eventually I will hit the off switch and that stupid door (Philippe calls them Rifts...*smacks him*) will close. :P

I deleted those files, considering that if they were restore points, they were for the 'old computer', before the recent reformat. lol :P

 No, it's being stubborn. I haven't been able to get on at all. I'm running it through the Forum instead since too many people were unable to make it. I'm going to wrap it up Halloween night so you have plenty of time to jump in Xalia. XD

Just to let you know, the Falas Massacre RPG is still going on. I know there were some of you who wanted to play. You can jump in any time (if you jump in now, skip the first post stuff and just start fighting). Well just pretend you've been fighting the entire time or something. :P

Like Phe, I really wanna make it to the Halloween thingy, but instead of my usual one and a half hours late, due to timezones, I'm gonna be friggin TWO and a half hours late, cuz I have to work overtime Monday XP

I don't suppose, for my sake AND Phe's, it could start a little later? ;.;

Monday, November 1st: Lord Ezekiel'khan and Lord Agate would like to invite those preeminent Warlords, Scientific Geniuses, Mob Bosses, Underworld Gods and Spirits, Tyrants, Monsters, and other misunderstood misanthropes and ambitious arseholes at Arx Infusco! Don't miss your chance to schmooze with the very baddest and best of what the Nexus has to offer!

Events will include a heated Pavilion for reclining dragons, with an extended branch (that is, olive branch) for humanoids to relax and scheme, and party, if need be. The Fighting Pits have been cleaned up and several promising young Infuscanoids have signed up to fight: test your mettle in battles against them, or other visitors! Take home the glory! Daggerback fights have been booked all through the night; satiate your gambling streak, bring your money!

We regret to inform that the planned, annual Hunt has had to be canceled due to lack of appropriate prey... next year, the Arx will be sure to host a hell of a hunt!

Rules
Up to two to three characters per player, please! Characters who arrive do not have to be ill-wishing leaders, but they should be willing to witness immoral happenings and bring something with which to defend themselves. Goodie-two-shoes will be eaten on sight!

Dragons and humanoids are both welcome; humanoids will have to don a visitor cape so as not to be eaten.

The Fighting Pits: A chance to try out some PvP fighting! Stat your characters up and go against the Arx's dragon and humanoid contestants. Once your HP reaches '0', you are tapped out and unable to participate for the rest of the night; if you win, you will garner points that can be exchanged at Dray's Boutique or any other thread which accepts points. The ultimate winner of the night will receive a cape (humanoid) and a torque (dragon) to commemorate their title as champion!

The Daggerback Pits: Arx Infusco has been hording up a lot of gold and prizes over the past year, and it can all be yours! Stat your characters with the quantity of betting goods and they will be added into the pool as bets go on. (Let's see what happens when we keep track of these things, eh?)

Bets will be determined with the flip of a coin and a x:1 ratio. (The more often a Daggerback as fought, the more it will be worth as it will tire and fail over time. New fighters will be worth less as they're fresh for the kill!) There might be a way to increase your chances of winning....

The Daggerback Hatchery:
Daggerbacks are a quadrupedal, firelizard-sized creature that are mean-tempered and will kill one another if put together out of season. Thank goodness they have a high reproduction rate! You can exchange money (again, be sure to stat your characters with the amount of loot that they've brought, and keep track of it!) for a young Daggerback, which you can then send into the pits to fight! Well-fed and cared for Daggerbacks will do better in battle than those who are immediately pitched into the pit -- but you don't need to coddle them all night, they just need a quick looking after! (PC Daggerbacks chances of winning are 2:1, vs NPC Daggerbacks 1:1) Your Daggerback, if defeated, will be sent to the infirmary to heal. It won't be able to participate for the rest of the night, but it should be ready to leave with a character after the night! There will be images for these.

Questions? I'm winging this a little because it's been a busy week. If you have questions, please feel free to ask, or put forward suggestions!

Due to the lateness of several folks, I'll be extending this RP up to 11PM, though I'll still be starting it at around 5PM -- no worries, Phe or Gail, I'm not planning on any plot-changing bits in the first hour! Characters are allowed to arrive at any time that they wish, and I can PM the intro post to you guys if you want a better idea of the setting!

I probably won't be able to make it this week. :( I'm starting to teach a new grade recovery class on Monday afternoons and won't get done here until 5:30 PDT...plus my house is still all torn apart from being painted and tiled and such and if I have any energy left I need to help finish everything up so it's not left half-done! XP

Have fun everyone! :) I wish I could bring my baddies to this... :(

Eep, best of luck in finishing up the place! I know that takes a lot of energy. Hope it looks fabulous when you're done!

I have a quick request from everyone that is going to swing by tonight: could you guys toss me links to the characters that you're planning on showing up with? Not everybody that lives at the Arx is paged yet, but I'd like to page those who are in the fighting pits at the very least, and I'd like to have dragons that are equally matched (and humans, if needed!) to your characters! This way I can focus on which dragons to page before the game starts!

If I do decide to RP:

Balthazar: http://www.alair-wolfkeep.wolf-mage.com ... hazar.html
Jien BaleToucher: http://www.alair-wolfkeep.wolf-mage.com/wolf/jien.html

Otherwise I may end up lurking in the OOC chat while working on templates...I don't think I can get enough "grrr" going for Bally but Jien I would do well...*flops over*

So the RP is a go!

http://www.dragonbackdesign.com/chat.php

The first post, for those who show up late:
Dray wrote: Arriving to Arx Infusco, the first thing that most would notice was the towering mountain ranges that rose up to either side of the valley like ragged, snow-capped teeth. The air was chilly, autumnal, with a hint of snow on the way even if the sky was clear, for now. Though a great swathe of land had been cleared around the Arx itself, the rest of the mountain-slopes were carpeted with a mottling of pine, spruce, cedar and bare-limbed aspen and poplars.

The Arx still sported scaffolding, and in places here and there, humanoids were working diligently upon the finer artistic details -- surrounding the gate, for instance -- under the watchful eyes of one draconic overseer or another. It was obvious that the Arx was still under construction, or perhaps was under reconstruction, as there was a great, blackened blast through one of the fortresses walls.

Inside, humanoids were laying out tables of sumptuous food, though it was obvious that there were far more who had locked themselves within the ramshackle buildings constituting the Stockyard. A few peered out nervously at visitors through partially opened shutters and hastily locked them up again for fear of catching attention.

Local dragons, on the other hand, strutted the landing grounds within the Arx's encircling walls without a care. Some scuffled with one another, others descended upon the feeding grounds with malevolent intent, but most were in a jovial mood. One or two had set up massive drums, lashed together from entire saplings and scaled hides whose origin nobody wanted to know, and were playing a raucous, competitive beat.

For most, attention was drawn to the Pavilion just outside the fortress: it was set aglow with lights of all magical colours, and food both prepared and in raw, bloody slabs was laid out in easy to pick piles. Humanoids were set up with seating around the fringes on a raised dais, the center of which was occupied by a throne, upon which sat the bond of the Lord. Agate, a blond, digitigrade-footed pale humanoid, was draped in a cape as well as a loose tunic and britches, and was layered in jewelry that probably weighed more than he did. He was graciously greeting newcomers as they were funneled to meet him, ears and eyes attentive to any trouble-makers.

Ezekiel'khan, the real Lord of the Arx, occupied a good chunk of the pavilion, sprawling this way and that to make himself seem bigger. Though all of his four heads were not currently occupied, it seemed as though he were greeting the dragons that came by in just the same way as his bond... even if he were a little more frightening. He too was wearing jewelry fit for a kin, with golden rings and bands and necklaces hanging wherever they would fit.

Beyond the pavilion, dusty, trampled grounds had been marked out and dragons were fighting in snarling, snapping good sportsmanship. A well-scarred dragon was watching -- probably refereeing the fighting.

Beyond that, in some of the stands that had been build, a gathering of humanoids and inquisitive dragons watched and occasionally cheered or cursed, watching tiny, dagger-tipped lizards spar with one another. Not a small amount of gold and other precious items were being passed around, a sure sign of greedy betting!
Guests are welcome to arrive at any time and NPC guests will be seen arriving throughout the evening, so don't feel like your characters are out of place if you show up late. :)

eta: something I forgot to mention: Arx Infusco sports a space-port of sorts, which is really just a massive clearing south of the Fortress. It doesn't support massive ships, just... let's say Firefly-sized vessels, for example. It is, however, mostly unmonitored so incoming vessels should approach at their own risk!

Oh, wonderful, thanks so much! If you have time to show up, everyone's invited to show up mid-gather. It'll be a little later in the night from the beginning of today, but fights are still on and there is still schmoozing to be done! ^_^

So I've been forcibly reminded by my comp and by several people I know that this Sunday some of us (at least me) will lose an hour due to daylight savings time or whatever.

QUESTION: How does this affect everyone else?

Monday's RP will feel as though it starts an hour early, and will probably end an hour early (I'll need to end it at 10ish my time because I'm going to have an extra long work-week this upcoming week!) Does that make sense?

We gained an hour! For example, at 7AM actual time, it would feel like 8AM considering what we've been used to.

So, if you start the game at 4pm it will feel like 5pm; if you start at 7pm it'll feel like 8pm! XD

I'm lurking in the chat all day if you guys need me, though I may be AFK from time to time. Everyone is welcome: essentially, I'll post a first post (time has passed, though only a couple of hours) and reply to the people that left off needing a reply! Then we can continue gambling, fighting, smooth-talking and interacting!

I'd like to note that you don't have to send evil characters, though since the action happening is not squeaky clean it might feel like a dive to those who are morally intact! :P
