Starfall Dragonry General Updates Thread!

This agency specializes in the breeding of a new species called Asana dragons - for information, click the 'Dragon Information' link on the sidebar of the Dragonry home page. This is Selwyn, the first of the species:

Asana dragons are bonders, and will bond to an individual when that bonder touches their egg. The dragons take about ten years to grow, and upon the tenth anniversary of their birthdate, they must choose one of the seven forms of Asana dragon magic to gain permanent access to (having had limited access to all seven during their adolescent stage). Selwyn's tattoo symbolizes her choice of Thought magic (the others are Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Sound and Light/Darkness). This can make for interesting inspiration for stories... or, when you receive your adult stage, you can simply let me know which one you'd like your dragon to choose. ^^

Candidates may be sent in via email or posted here as a reply to this topic, and any questions may be asked here as well. It's a new species, but the bonding process is pretty simple. The Rules page has more information.

i hadn't really thought about that, since it's been over three years since i disappeared off the face of the earth and i'm not even sure if i still have the templates for Mouse's clutch. XP however, if i do dig them up and people are still interested, i may be able to set a few babies loose on the world.

if anyone had candidates in that clutch, though, they're free to go elsewhere if they so desire, since this project is pretty much replacing Starburst and takes precedence.

yee! I will definitely be fixing someone up for this. One question, can the bonder in question take multiple Asana? Or are they a one-per-person type? I ask because the character I am thinking of should probably try for two at some point

One bonder may bond to multiple dragons, but you do need to send a new form for each bonding. Since the clutches are so small I'd like to keep it to one dragon per person per clutch, so you'd have to wait for the next clutch for your character to bond again. :)

Yeah, that's totally okay. Post-bonding stories are really more what I like to see with these guys anyway because IC-ly, they have to choose their magic and stuff when they come of age.

*raises hand* I am but I'm having computer issues so I don't dare start anything yet. The only thing I could do is request one with stats posted here but yeah, don't dare try anything until I get SP3 up and drivers installed - without crashing it....

I never thought it would take almost a week to fix this stupid thing....*sigh* But, yeah, I want one for Alair but...er...

Yeah, I would prefer to take a hammer to it right now but that wouldn't fix anything...heh...well, I can't get my FTP to log onto my site so I can't upload anything yet anyway. But I know I had some characters from Alair I wanted to use to bond dragons.

haha, it happens. XP i had plenty of my own issues trying to kick Dreamweaver into submission while designing the Starfall site, so i totally understand where you're coming from.

(Should mention at this point that eggs are first-come, first-serve - you'll get your first choice as long as someone before you hasn't taken it.)

Borano touches this little egg and immediately feels the telltale mental zing of a bond being formed. The surrogate 'parents' of the clutch nod, and he is allowed to take the egg and leave the Hatching Dens.

About three days later, he notices that the little egg is beginning to shake wildly. Small pieces begin to fall from its surface with each tap from within. Without further warning, the egg shatters and...

No worries. Rainbows are actually very rare - the fact that there was one in this clutch was the generator's fault. XD Anyway...

Upon touching the small green egg nestled amongst its unborn clutchmates, Balae immediately feels a connection to it, as if she is being wordlessly spoken to.

And in a few days, Balae finds that her egg is mysteriously missing. Her moment of panic is quickly stopped, however, by her discovery of a pile of eggshell shards on the floor. Smiling, she meets her bond for the first time...

Another note: these dragons, while members of the same clutch according to the archives, are NOT related to each other. A found (unrelated) clutch is a group of eggs that was found in the wild and therefore comes from unknown parents - maybe even completely different sets of parents. Therefore, upon adulthood, "siblings" from a found/unrelated clutch may breed.

Ariana, who is accompanying the surrogate clutch-parents at the time of Zeets' visit to the Dens, can sense the bond being formed between Zeets and the dragon in the small opalescent egg. She smiles and nods.

"It's yours. The bond has already been made."

Delighted, and a little confused at the same time, Zeets picks up the egg and leaves the Dens with a smile. The egg is warm to the touch and seems to send a wave of emotion throughout her body.

Two short days later, the egg begins to wobble. Zeets and her friends look on as the orb shatters, revealing a small dragonet - her bond.

And here is Chakoka's adolescent stage!

It takes Asana dragons about 10 years to mature fully into adulthood, so they definitely don't have to mature IC-ly as you receive the stages. I also don't mind if your characters travel between dimensions or something and the timing of your dragon's growth is somehow affected by that.
