And a breeding! I /think/ I know where I'm going to go with these... My ideal baby from them is a boy, has pearl eyes, and carries both barless and iridescent @_@

There we go, finally back on track.

F131: Haelli is up here: http://www.silveredmagic.com/candis/lig ... ueens.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Let's start dragging those scores upwards. Also, Dalziel's domestication score is to die for... now to figure out who to breed him to to drag the other two up without tanking the domestication too far.

Well look who dragged the cat in! Here is your breeding between Socko and September. Not especially flashy cats, but if you're aiming towards that Archangel look, the barless will get you a solid-coloured wing at least.

Let me know if you'd like one or both of 'em! I had tentatively started randomizing your litter because the other version would yield ever more female cats carrying iridescent! It turns out that by rolling dice I somehow managed two identi-cats! O.o I made a new grizzle pattern for the second so that they wouldn't appear to be direct clones.

ALL Y'ALL
This is your middle-of-the-post warning that we've reached M145 -- M150 will be the next kiriban cat on the block!

I thought that since we've been randomizing things so much lately I'd try an orderly breeding!

My Minese will have a Size score of no more than 20 to qualify, I have decided. I'm kind of wondering if I can fudge the scores enough so that my first official Minese is Size: 1 =P

Man, I was really hoping for the kiriban that time x3 Ah well. I would actually like to try breeding the same pair again before definitively claiming one, if that's okay (I'll edit this with a form if it is indeed okay for me to do that)!

Edit - Dray, is it an error that Procyon and Adhara have identical sets of slider stats? XD

I'm okay with them only having two if it means I get a kiriban! :3 I will claim M150 in the interest of getting a cat of my future breed. He'll be up soon.

The ideal Black Opal definitely has the following:
- Homozygous/Hemizygous Black
- Homozygous Barless
- Homozygous Iridescence
- Homozygous Pearl Iris

As for traits, I haven't given it much thought yet. I can get back to you on it after M150 is paged, if you'd like!

M150 (Tejat) is paged: http://www.mysticalplace.com/Starfall/L ... html#Tejat" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm okay with you putting the rest of the cats from my breedings up for adoption, as well!

And these are the cats I don't have trait lists for yet on their pages:
F013, Vega
F014, Gemma
M020, Deneb
F043, Pleione
F052, Capella
M053, Altair
F053, Mira
F064, Taygeta
M131, Aldebaran

As for the Black Opals: so far I've got average size (between 40 and 60, ideally) and high domestication (75+ ideal). I looked at a page about Bombay cats for inspiration on the other two, and it says that they "can be quite talkative and meow alot at times like when you get home from work or wake up in the morning, for example" -- that makes a high noisiness score something to shoot for, and my cats for the project seem to be breeding well for that, so it works out nicely in my favour.

I know this means shooting for high scores overall, but they're apparently very affectionate cats, too! I guess I'm looking for an average-sized housecat with high scores in the other traits. XD Hopefully that works for you!

I just wanted everyone to know that I have added two genes to the genetics page! 'Spotted Tabby' is a pattern that causes Mackerel and Classic Tabby to be broken up into spots and rosettes respectively. It interacts with wing-patterns by extending them out towards the body in a more broken-up manner. When displayed homozygously, it causes a strange freckled pattern much like this dude.

I have also added a dominant autosomal gene called 'Archangel Bronze'. You can read more about it at the American Archangel Club Standards webpage; essentially, this gene is named after a breed of pigeon that displays bronze across its head, body and legs, leaving the tail and wings their original colour. When Heterozygous this gene leaves bronze patches and can bleed into the other colours/patterns of the cat. Good, strong Archangel Bronze needs to be co-dominant to show good edging across the whole body. It looks best when paired with Iridescent and Gimpel because the whole body gains a metallic pinkish colour, sort of coppery looking. When dilute this gene turns into a creamy gold.

Starburst, I'll get on your cat-naming business ASAP! I know I've added stats to some of those cats. Just have to re-dig them up.

Hey! :D So finally I got up to paging some cats. I'm going to claim F149 and F150 from Rocko and November's litter. I've named them Nonce and Torrent, and they're up here: http://avengaea.com/characters/kloft1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; in the Queens section.

As for the kiriban breed starter... >:D I am going to have to consider for a bit, but I have an Idea.

**Cats are given standards of excellence at flappycat flappypoluzas! That is to say, when we have enough cats of a couple of breeds gathered together, you may submit your favourites for a vote. Everyone who wants to judge may then vote for what they think fits the standard best, and those votes will be tallied into a series: Excellent > Superior > Good > Inferior. I have to figure out how to set up entry fees as I would like to have some amount of exchange happening in this process -- if people submit cats judged inferior, there should be some relative loss, whereas those who submit Excellents should have some sort of gain! I may set up a Research Bank -- you pick some parameter within your cats to research and if you consecutively get Excellents submitted, the points garnered will unlock new insights into that gene or something? I dunno, whatcha think would be fun to make the game tricky but still interesting to strive for better breedings?

JKat: Thanks, I'll get those two up -- but official lofts only allow 10 cats per page. As it stands, your cats are beginning to look a little cooped up. They may want for more space!

If you'd like to start thinking about anything else that you'd like to see in the breed (even if it's not currently listed in the genetics page, and especially if there is precedent for it in the pigeon or cat world of colours, patterns or body-shapes) let me know! Similarly if you would like to allow alternate versions for your black opals (for example, the Archangel pigeon allows every kind of wing pattern, as well as dilute and normal versions) I can include them as options in the breed. I'm glad you like! That greenish/bluish shade is very common for that colour. In order to get the pink/purple version there should probably be some futzing around. Perhaps a 'discovery' of an allele off of Iridescent will have to be researched, or if you want certain parts of the body to reflect green/blue and others purple/pink, that could be something to work towards as well!

I think I'd probably be okay with variant Black Opals in different base colours, actually, the same way that you very occasionally see a liver, lemon, or blue Dalmatian dog. It'd be a neat rarity. They wouldn't be "show-standard," obviously, but they'd be cool to see. I'd go for the Smooth Distribution Pigments (Orange or 'Fire Opal,' Smooth Brown, and Light Brown). Say one such cat was Extreme Dilute: it'd be dubbed 'White Opal' although it'd still technically be part of the breed.

Also, does Iridescent show up over white? I think that'd be a really nifty look. :3
