Halloween Misunderstood Monsters, Part 1 (Complete!)

Post by Xenoqueen »

Twisted things are happening over in the Fate, but what else is new? Some lab-mage with too much free time on his hands and a penchant for the macabre has apparently been reading a certain work of the authoress Mary Shelley, for he's recruited of some of the less savory Seekers and sent the team out to collect genetic samples in order for him to produce his own kind of Frankenstein's monsters. Of course, in typical Fate fashion, they'll be dumped in the Nexus and forgotten just about as soon as they're done, but surely even misunderstood beasts such as these will be able to find homes of their own...?

I've wanted to do something like this for Halloween for literal years now, and you know what, I'm just gonna finally buck down and do it. But it literally cannot see fruition if people won't join in!

In order for this "clutch" to even get off the ground, you have to donate me a sample from one of your own creatures, first. Those Seekers are out stealing scales, feathers, skin samples, whatever they can get their hands or claws or psuedopods on, and YOU have to tell me who they're finding. These samples will then be developed and patched together into the template(s) I'll be distributing come Halloween.

By this I don't mean I'm asking for freebies, I mean I'm asking you to pick one of your dragons/griffins/other creatures -- any creature at all, seriously -- for me to use as visual inspiration for my monsters. The end result will be entirely affected by what you all donate to me! This means as long as it has an image for me to reference, you can submit it, so candidates and any other characters you've self-made are just as fair game as any actually-adopted critter, JUST in case someone wondered/wants to go that route.

There's no themes or requirements outside of "I need an image to work off of". YOU ALL are basically creating this template(s). I'll be working within the bounds of whatever I'm given! X3

Whatever creature you let my Seekers steal from will not be harmed or necessarily even be aware of the theft, if you don't wish it. So pick anyone you want, anyone with features you'd like to see added to the (possibly semi-epic, if enough people join in!) template(s). :3

The Nexus has spoken! Part 2 will follow in time.

Well, cool!

How many donations can we give? I have the potential for a couple good ones, but the first that struck my fancy was this one...

I do have another, but I have to upload the file into droppin the fork's site. If not, this is the one I'd like to send :D

Just one for now, because I don't want to be overwhelmed with options if a lot of people chip in. If not too many people want to participate, I'll ask folk about double-donations. :3

O_O ONLY ONE?!

Oh man, I'll have to think about this for a while. XD The first thing that pops to mind is my Vere dragons because they're kind of hodge-podge looking, themselves... and also Phe-drawn metal-plated dragons would be so cool... but I think they're still stuck in Matrix-verse.

I'll get back to you on this!

If it helps any, remember it's not your "victim" that has to get anywhere... the Seekers will be coming to them. And unless there's something cutting the Matrix-verse universe/dimension off from the rest, nothing's stopping a Seeker from slipping in and out without the natives ever realizing it was there. X3

I love Halloween, so of course I have to participate. ;) Of course, I only have one Halloween dragon, so he gets the pick!

Your Name: erinnyes
The Victim: Night-Sky Antuk http://erinnyes.co.cc/pern/riders/morgiana/dragon.html (I linked directly to his page but taking dragon.html off the url takes you to the story)

I always thought Antuk looked SO cool, so I'd love to see what parts of him end up showing up. ;)

It's times like this that make me wish I had a full directory of my dragons, possibly with "snapshot" thumbnails. *sigh*

This. XD I'm working on moving all of mine into one place with a layout that uses thumbs... lots of work, but frackit, so much easier to browse the hundreds of shinies!

Anyways, I got permission from JKat, so:

Your Name: Dray
The Victim: http://dracothrope.lmfao.org.uk/Bonds/v ... anbond.htm

At first the seeker was given to think that this world was dead, no doubt ravaged by the local Balespawn or other equivalent bigbad: there was no life to speak of, just miles of wreckage, scorched skies and rubble. But wait, something shifting in the distance!

Even nanotechnology-enhanced dragons have to sleep sometimes...

Haha, weeeell I suspect some back alley dealings between the Seeker and a disgruntled Faszje getting a little fed-up with Vrine's constant pining for a child. XD

'Epic' is most concisely defined as something that, were you to do it in view of a person in real life, they'd pretty much have to sleep with you immediately to maintain order in the universe.

Well, after much deliberation, agonizing, and a few tosses of a d6, I finally narrowed down to one:

Your Name: Keilin Alyr
The Victim: Artemis Moonpaw: http://www.geocities.com/sunrise_twilig ... oonpaw.htm

I intended for her to have a cool, distant temperament, but she looks like a little soft white and starlight to counter some of the less than gentle souls. Maybe one of the Seekers has a sense of humor. Or really likes stars.

As a side note, the idea of Artemis-Antuk babies make me drool. XD

Heh, she and her Whorling-mother both. But that's totally nothing a few good belly scritches won't fix. Every puppy loves belly scritches, don't they? Who has a shiny belly, Artemis, who has a shiny starry belly!

Something tells me that I'd have had my arm gnawed off in this scenario. *chuckles*

I don't know if Cusith + Chaythlis is gonna break our genetic pool or not. We have the start of a eldritch abomination here. XD

Either way, the end result is gonna be complete win. =D

Every good (and by that I mean quality, not alignment) spliced monstrousity needs a chance at tentacles. OR Cthulhu-esque mouthparts. Bwah!
If you catch me on AIM (thecrazytiger) please send me a quick note and remind me your name on there. It has been so long since I used that chat medium, I'm staring blankly at my list and not knowing who's actually there. >.<
