Rule of Thumb?
So, this is such a n00b question, and I massively apologize, but if you don't ask, you never know, right?
So I have a bunch of dragons from agencies that went belly up... we're talking four, six years ago? Most of the links lead to pages that say "Such-and-such Agency has Closed!" They were never stated as can-only-mate-with-same-species, but they were never /not/ stated as that, either.
Is there a standing rule-of-thumb as to whether or not these dragons are allowed to fly here? I'm sure there's a real answer somewhere, but I can't find it, and I don't want to step on toes. >__>;

Generally, honestly, if the agency has closed I personally consider any dragon I have from them to be open game. The dragon adoption "business" has changed a lot even in the 4 or 5 years since the Nexus has been "the Nexus". Most of the folks who are willing to adopt any more, are also willing to forego old-school "rules" because the worlds we inhabit now are simply different than when we all started out.
In the cases of particular *active* agencies, obviously, respecting their terms is important. I have Dragonhope and sometimes the Otherforest dragons out there that I prefer remain canon, but even with the Dragonhope ones, I don't necessarily MIND if they manage to find their way offworld (and particularly, if they've bonded someone who's not from Pern... that would pretty much clear any constraints on them individually).
So, my short opinionated answer: it's okay. As long as there's still some mention of the original agency or artist on the page, personally, I see no issue.

Well, for folks post-Nexus, there are some "closed" or hiatus agencies who I'd say also to respect their wishes (sil's specific breeds for ring of fire creatures, and while not closed Myrror's breed-restrictions on other-than-whorlings and the like) - but they're really few and far between. Whose stuff did you want to introduce to the mix? hmmmm?

Well, yeah. XD But there were no upon-closing instructions for the breeds or anything. I had the impossibly annoying situation of coming upon agencies in their last clutch before the owners went "enough is enough" and decided that they were going to close up shop.
I have a xian dragon ( http://www.angelfire.com/realm/ixris/r_drag.html ) from Sapphire Dreams ( http://www.geocities.com/sapphiredreams18/ ) which took over for Xian Dragon Adoptions ( http://www.geocities.com/xiandragons/ ) back in '03.
And I have a Darkelf dragon ( http://www.angelfire.com/realm/ixris/darkelf.html ) from Darkelf Dragons ( http://www.geocities.com/darkelf1245/ ) and about the same time period when I was banging my head against the wall when people would make you write these hugelong stories just to fall over dead. V. frustrating.
Anyway, if you or anyone knows what became of the owners (watch: they're all HERE. ... I'd laugh and then cry. XD ) or thoughts on what the judgement ought to be, I'd appreciate it. <3
Thanks again.

Yeah I have a darkelf but it was among the very first that went out, and I had gotten permission to draw the tail on it too lol.
The Xians I don't see any problem with either, in fact there's at least one I should be using for the summer swim of... well, let's say it was still when the first Xian agency was up and running lol.
Here he is, he's not even listed on the site's parent list

I had so much fun with that story too. I can't wait to see what happens with them.
