Tairesian Dragons -- Any Interest?

Post by Astra »

Some of you might know that I've been writing a lot of candidates lately for Pyrus Weir (http://www.moon-struck.net/pyrusweir/) which I started about a year ago but never did anything with. Pyrus Weir is located on a world called Taires, which is sort of a combination between Pern and Medieval Earth -- ie, it's my "Traditional" agency. I know a lot of people are too busy to adopt much of anything, and I know I'm horribly behind with my other agency, and I know that there isn't much interest in traditional-type dragons anymore, but insane person that I am, I'm still considering giving out Tairesian dragons -- though in what clutch format I have yet to decide. I'm a little hesitant to just give them out, as these guys are traditional and require a bond, but if I hold regular clutches I doubt they'll ever see the light of day.

Anyway, the images are simplistic to be sure, but that was the look I was going for. I made a template this morning, just very simple, and I was wondering what people thought, or if there'd be even any remote interest in these guys.

Yes! What colors do they come in as per traditional? (ie: would they be mostly acceptable at a traditional Pernese weyr like Dragonhope?)

omg they're hot. ._____. -grabbies at them- -enamoured-

How tranditional are they? Stories-best-stories-get-best-dragons tranditional? but that's a clutch format.

I should ask, how choosy are they on their bonds. As a rule, i usually have non-human candidates and they're all bisexual, which in tranditional clutches usually gets me all blues greens and browns and the junk...
i.e, what are character restictions. :3

I like them - my issue that I've paused 'candidate writing' in order to get everything written up the way it should be, but I'll undo my pause for one *grins* or more.

I like the simplistic format - so many of our dragons anymore are so 'noisy' in that they're such a hodge-podge of features and pretties that sometimes you'd just like to step back and take a breather in something a little more simple in form.

Ooh! Questions. Cool ^_^

The colors are the traditional Alskyrian colors (green blue red purple brown cream bronze silver gold white black, in order from most common to most rare), but if you want only one of the original 5-6 pernese colors you can request that. Green, purple, and gold dragons are always female. Blue, brown, and bronze dragons are always male. Red, cream, silver, black, and white dragons can be either. To be honest the sexuality restrictions on Pernese dragons always made my brain hurt, so cross-gender pairings will be rarer than same-gender pairings but will happen, and sexuality has little to do with it (though effeminate males will be more likely to get female dragons than macho ones, etc). There can and will be male goldriders and female bronzeriders, but it is rare. Like with Pern size increases with rarity except for the blacks and whites which are quite small. Intelligence, however, does not increase with rarity -- there will be smart greens and stupid golds and vice versa. Personalities may or may not correspond to certain colors.

As for how who gets what ... I definitely want there to be some competition for the rarer colors, but not to the point where it deters people. In a perfect world I would do traditional clutches where there's a set number of each color and people write stories based on what they want and compete, if they choose, for the higher ranking ones. But I can't really see that generating most interest, so I might do it simply by effort. Effort can be either a really good story, or just a really really really nice stat sheet. Or just be totally subjective and pick who I like best. Haha. Or go by personality, whoever would make the best queenrider gets the queen, that kind of thing, regardless of story. But yeah. I haven't decided yet.

And last but not least, candidates will have to follow the classic "be able to ride or fly with a dragon" rule. Preferably be able to ride. They don't have to be human by any means but being humanoid is preferable. Anthros are ideal.

For some reason I just *love* that image, Astra. *paws it*
Anyway, I like traditional dragons. I've been thinking wistfully about Pern and such, lately, so yes, definitely interested, and I might even be able to think up stories for you. *Still wants a male goldrider some day. Just because.*
Darkling Dawn: Fauna Frenzy Open to candidates; flights open to males/females; rukel eggs/breedings available.
Drockh-Tallahn Castle: 3 eggs, 2 available. Females and males needed.
Sgiath Wolfkeep: 7 pups available
Sedona Weyr: 12 eggs, Deadline March 8. Chasers and a female needed.

XP I have a number of male goldriders. and female bronzeriders. I've always always been fond of them. -cuddles them all- :D Anthro's right up my alley, too.

That said, I too will send you things, astra. Will stories be mandatory, do you think?

Effort, eh. I put more effort into my stats, but no one likes stats. :/ I'll put effort into stories, too, if you like-- but it will probably be crappy and unrefined, and also almost totally incoherant. I am not a writer. ^^;

I do really like the image, though. simple, but still interesting. :D

I usually decide who gets what in ranked clutches by assigning hatchlings personalities before i even glance at the candidates and then assigning the pairings based on interactions and how well they'd work together. That's what i assumed happened in books, anyway, until a year or two ago. >.> of course, that's inconvenient and a pain in the ass. :/ so woof.

final question- would these images be available for dragonswap? not aligned with clutch, but like.. random. private dragonswaps. Because I'll send you characters who I want to genuinely bond-- i.e, i have no preference for them. :/ but if i create a character for a certain dragon, like create a female bronzerider for the purpose of being a female bronzerider, would I be able to do a dragonswap with you? for this image? If not, that's cool, becuase I have templates I can use; that's just a generic question. XP

I really really like this template. I think it's the wings. and the colour. -hugs it- gweeeee.

Aw...they're very cute! Much <3's

I do admit when I saw the name, I was hoping for another traditional Pern agency. I was all excited like OMG, it even has the same name twist. We could share a timeline and on and on... But nevermind. XD

They are very cute though. You'll definitely see Bonders from me if all my older riders' pages are in order by the time you open. (Which means, don't expect anything soon. O.O )
