Kas and Mahoka

((OOC note: Dray, feel free to join in as parents or elders at any time, if you want to. We're going to try to do the cooperative story thing. Also feel free to jump in and correct any incorrect or awkward information
Oh, and Kas' stats: www.geocities.com/kavera_weyr/kstats ))

Kas sat in her secluded hideaway, meditating on her shapeshifting. She was determined to be an excellent shifter, and she knew it would take a lot of practice. She was also considering the opportunity one of the elders had told her about.

Young Merideti were always encouraged to travel, visiting other Elkeres, find one they will be comfortable living in. Now, it seemed, some were being given the opportunity to travel offworld, looking for people to bring or send back home, as well as exotic items for possible use as bonding items. This last idea particularly appealled to Kas; she had been searching for a bond item for a long time now, with little luck. She was beginning to think she would have to go off world to find something!

Pondering what types of items she might find on an entirely different world, she lost her focus and slipped back to her draconic form. She didn't really mind; she'd been working on this all morning and had made the shift successfully several times already. Most of the time, she preferred that form, but she liked to be able to switch to human form if she so desired.

The trees surrounding her hideaway rustled in the breeze that swept through the valley, reminding her that she had other things she wanted to do today. Stretching her long limbs, she got to her feet and headed through the trees. As she walked, she wondered what her brother would think of the opportunity of going offworld, and if he had been told about it. One of her mentors had told her when she had gone for advice on where to look for a bond item, and she hadn't seen Mahoka since the day before.

I should find him and tell him about, if he hasn't already heard. She thought to herself. Though, knowing him, he probably found out before me and just didn't tell me. She sighed, knowing that would be just like her brother, leaving her out of the loop, just for laughs. She headed for home; if he wasn't there, maybe one of the others would know where he had gone.

((Hey, no worries, that entire post was awesome! :D

If you want a visual example of what a humanoid Meri' looks like, here's a quick doodle from photoshop (please excuse the quality!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/ ... xample.jpg

They're pretty much just digitigrade with pointy ears and nails, along with a tail; usually the backs of their ears are hairy and that hair's swept downish. Sometimes they have hairier arms and legs then humans, mostly on the forearms and along the back of the legs, but nothing like the feathering you see on the Merideti in their draconic forms. Um, and they /do/ have sexual organs... I just can't draw boy-bits without them looking wrong.
XD I'll work out some proper terms for 'draconic' and 'humanoid', because they don't quite look like either.

I'm all excited to see where this goes! :D Must get more info up on the webpage for you!))

(( here are Mahoka's stats, for reference: http://www.mysticalplace.com/sw/mahoka/index.html ))

Mahoka was running - running free, untamed, and swift like a bird in flight. Who says one can't fly without wings? he thought to himself with a grin, feeling his well-toned leg muscles bursting with exhilaration.

Unlike his sibling, Kas, Mahoka never meditated like she did - having a love of getting everything done quickly and near-effortlessly, he completely shunned the activity. But for anyone who told him he was lazy... well, they should see him now, running across the plains of his homeworld as if no other Merideti had done it before.

Speaking of Kas... Mahoka skidded to a halt for a moment, his heart beating swift as his gait had been. He hadn't seen his sister for a long while, and was beginning to wonder where she had gone off to. It wasn't that Mahoka was worried about her - he rarely worried about anything - it was mere curiosity that grasped his attention to her.

Mahoka broke into a run again shortly after. He'd be able to find Kas later, but now was the time for his run, and that couldn't be stopped for long. At the speed at which Mahoka reached, his cares were swept away like leaves in the wind, the wind that ruffled his rich reddish fur.

Still on his mind, despite this, was the fact that both he and his sister could be separated soon. Their elders, it seemed, were sending them offworld to map the great universe known as the Nexus - perhaps even find a bonded item for themselves. Mahoka hadn't seen anything quite right to be his bonded item yet; perhaps this was because he never thought about it much. His search was rather inconspicuous, but nevertheless always present - Mahoka had the tendency to forget about it, however, and thus one never saw him seeking his bonded piece.

Mahoka's run was nearing its end, and he thought for a moment that perhaps Kas was at home. He'd be sure to find her there after her silly meditation, and if he didn't one of his elders or one of the other Merideti there would be sure to tell him.

He slowed to a jog, but never lost his continuous energy, as he started for home.

((Sorry this took so long; I've been busy))

Making time for a quick swim, Kas took her time getting back. While she wanted to make sure her brother knew about the travel opportunities that were being offered. They had very different personalities, and sometimes didn't get along, but that didn't mean she was going to let him miss out.

She shook most of the water from her thick rust colored fur, and then ran for a few minutes, allowing the wind to dry it further. Finally, she turned to take the final leg of the trip home.

When she arrived at her parents' home, she called out, "Hello?", not really expecting an answer as they had both gone out before she had, and they rarely came home in the middle of the day. She didn't expect her brother to be there either, as he didn't like to stay in very much. As much as she liked to work on her meditations, shifting and dreamwalking, Kas didn't completely understand her brother's need to be moving constantly.

Shrugging, the young merideti decided to find something to eat. It was nearly midday, and she hadn't eaten since early morning. Maybe Mahoka would return in time to share her meal.
