Nexus Logo - Background Suggestions
Moderators: Mystic Dragon, Xalia, Shard, JKatkina
I'd prefer paler colours, and nothing eye-hurtingly bright either. For some reason, I think of the Nexus as blue.. but that's just me. However, it would probably be best to choose subtle colours so as to keep text legible and not annoy those who might not like the colour choice. (For example: a few of us hate pink, so let's not have neon pink anywhere as that might make people get annoyed with it.)
Is there any way to have more than one available theme that people can pick from?

If you want a colored version of that logo I can do that, too. Of course it might change a bit in shape but I think the board should have a colored logo rather then black and white. You just need to let me know how you want it done...
Or see if Xalia wants to play with it as I'm sure she has Illustrator closer on hand *is avoiding her mac*
*pokes Sargon who has this thing for calling me Yamika...lol* I suppose I can add that to my nicknames list if it's easier for you to remember.
I don't mind have a dark sceme with softer, lighter colors either...'Nexus' makes me think of space and dark...

o.O Okay, Dray, no more sugar for you.
I've adjusted to the cracking/shaking eggs already. Although I must admit I was staring at them dumbly for a while when we first switched over. :3 Whatever you do, Phe, works for me.
Now as for colour combos, do we have any REAL suggestions? And for that matter, how many colours do we need?

Phe, how much work would it be to change the background colours (maybe just a few of them) once every couple of months? O_o I don't know how much I like the thought of rainbowy or yellow forums, but I'm sure that other people would appreciate them--just like I like this light blue setup and I'll bet that others don't! XD If it's easy to change, then perhaps people can submit colour-schemes and they can be changed once in a while?

Blue Lagoon: Come on, Rocky! You've lived here how long, and you've done nothing silly to the Nexus!
Rock Candy: *considers* Okay, you're right... *sneaks around with shifty eyes*
*inserts "http://www.geocities.com/sunrise_twilig ... ag97le.jpg" into the "Background Image" textbox*
Blue Lagoon: Now we wait for Xenoqueen to make updates to the board!
*both dash off, giggling happily*

Hmm... correction/addition. It's possible to make multiple skins, but I can't figure out how to *do* so. I attempted to make a test skin to figure out what changes what... and it didn't do anything. I mean, the skin appeared in the options list, but when I applied it to my own settings and put in random colours to see what was what... nothing happened.

Phe, is there maybe a way that each of us could pick our own layout? Like, maybe you could get a list of people who want to make one of their own, and then title them as such "----'s Layout" and those of us who aren't picky could just use one of those as well.
Just curious, because I'm a big fan of black offset by rainbow. As shown in my vampirefreaks.com profile, myspace profile, and soon, my livejournal.

Alright then, I think it's safe to say I've figured out how everything works. :3 There's one thing that need to stay in mind regarding any skin, though.
All the images (folders/eggs, smilies, logo in the corner, mini-icons up at the top there) have to be compatible with all the colour schemes. I change those icons by overwriting the images the board came with-- I can't say use *this* logo for that theme and *this* logo for the other. You'll note Yakima's logo is now more jagged around the edges, since the fuzzy fade-to-white it had before doesn't work if the table background isn't also white.

Possible, yes, but I'd really rather not do that. You have to be an Admin to make/adjust the themes (which is me or Dev), and as you can see from the screenshot I posted above, there's quite a selection of options that have to be colour-harmonized. I'd have to go back and forth with the person until the theme was just right-- and that'd be a lot of work.Cy wrote:Phe, is there maybe a way that each of us could pick our own layout? I'd rather we just come up with a variety of "generic" themes, and people can pick from those what they like best. ^_^* And if other people like rainbow-on-black, that can certainly be an option among them.

oh yay. ^_^ it's so much easier to see what's new! =D thanks so muchly! and this talk of new skins sounds interesting...
if we want skin ideas, I like the forest green themes and the chocolatey brown themes that a lot of places have.

Like Phe was saying...generic themes.
We could do like a raver rainbow one like Cy wanted, and then like "simple" ones like this nice blue, or maybe if someone wanted it in say red or something. Violet sahdes would look nice, and i'm always partial to a grays with forest green and lime green links. *shrug*
I think more on the artsy side than the actually praticality one though. My first thought was to redo it like i'm re-doing Azon.
