Should I leave length out of the new Size Chart, and let people calculate it on their own with the height:length ratio, or should I include it and have more complex charts?

X3 Hybrids I understand! And Shard, if you ever *wanted* a size chart, just come to me with standing templates and the sizes of the dragons therein, and I could make one for you no problem. ^^: I don't mind making them! As long as I've got the info needed. :D

Well, d'you want Ferlions on the chart? X3 I could do 'em.

**edit** Heck, if people wanted, I could make a pet-sized-universal size chart too. XD AFTER I finish what I need to do with this one! ^^

Well, Kat, I have no idea how to determine ratios though I managed to get Falas dragons with percents and I have wingspan, length, height, (heck, even head, neck, body and tail lengths!) already on the page! http://www.geocities.com/falas_weyr/s_info.html . You can easily use/edit the scale thing on that page, right? save you some work and I'm pretty sure the dragons are standing how you wanted them.

I don't have time/inspiration to redraw images for the Anar dragons if you don't like the ones I used. I'm also still gathering that information for the site and it's kinda pointless to have two sites with the same thing. *shrug*

If Falas dragons are essentially Pernese...well, I'm wavering as to whether to include Pernese dragons or not, though I suppose I should. >.> If I add them, they're getting labelled as Old Worlders, though I can put a subheading under that that lets people know Falas dragons fall under the heading too.

If I add them, I'd love you forever if I could gank the images from that chart, in any case. X3

I can't do anything to help you with your image problems for your original dragons, though -- I stop short of actually drawing peoples' templates for them. ;)

I disagree that this endeavor is pointless, however. It is much easier for comparison purposes to have all the sizes for various species on one page, rather than hopping around several confusingly-set-up information pages trying to gather info. This is meant to make dragoners' lives easier... although it seems to be making mine more difficult at the moment!

Hmmm....I think the only ones I'd be able to put on the chart are Supernals, and I'm not sure of the ratio or drawing a straight new template. Infernals go by colors (and I can't remember the exact chart), and Whorlings...whorlings don't have a set size. They range from tiny to hydra-dwarfing (and I don't mean bigger than a drawf hydra either)

Other than that, it's a cool idea.

If I put the images on one image-size-chart will that help you because I don't see what's wrong with using the templates - I know other people do and if I do it then they'll be at the size they need to be anyway. I don't want you to draw the images! I never asked that...heh. Not that I can get you ratios because, like i said, I have no clue how to do them and can only figure out percents to find lengths of various body parts...or wingspan and length.

You can use the image if you add them though I've never liked 'Old World' for Pernese dragons. It annoys me for some reason. But you can use the image if you add them. You don't have to say that Falasian dragons fall under that heading - or if you want, just put Falasian dragons if you don't put *cough* Old World dragons up.

I didn't say this was a bad idea but when I have no information to give you yet, I really can't give you anything! I don't use ratios to find out lengths and such - I use percents. Ratios I don't understand so half the stuff on that page I don't understand...and I think I make my infomation easy to find...though I'm starting to wonder...*sulks* *sigh* Oh well...

Anyway, here is the template I used for the Falas chart - tweek to hearts delight if used...

What an awesome idea this is, I'm going to have to get back to you on it next week after I work out the details for my species... and get out a ruler, then consult my dad about ratios...

Myrror: Well, if you wanted, I could put Whorlings in, with the largest size you've ever got and the tiniest. X3 Just let people know that their range is... all over the place. That'd be fine. :3

As for Supernals, take your time! I'd love to list them by color if you could give me sizes.

I've forgotten to say, apparently: you don't NEED a visual chart! I'm just by default including a space for one unless you tell me you don't want one. Which is fine, it's just good for people to have a visual reference as well. :) I'm trying to make this thing as easy to use as possible.

Yakima: Oh, heck, give me heights-at-the-shoulder, lengths, and wingspans (in units of measurement, feet or meters whichever), and I'll make the ratio for you. ^^; It's not that much work for me as I've done a few today.. *facepalm* Though I don't know how to teach how, honestly.

To be honest, I just don't trust myself to estimate sizes with templates that aren't standing profile all-fours -- I've been known to make glaring errors working that way. ^^;

Please don't sulk! <:) I don't mind if you don't use the chart yourself -- I don't even mind if you don't want your dragons on it, whichever... It's not the end of the world. I'm not using percents because, well, I had to choose some consistent way to measure things, and this just seemed the simplest to me. I'm just trying to make this thing accessable.... heck, suggestions are welcome.

There's also a little explanation at the top that should help a little with how to use the ratios given. If you need more, ask and I'll muddle my way through explaining!

Indigo: Yeee, I'm glad! XD It's kind of guiltily exciting when dragoning actually teaches you stuff. I had to re-learn ratios myself when I concieved of this... good luck! :3

You see, with whorlings--I don't know how large the largest is, or howe small. I let the adopter decide, though larger images would mean a larger size overall.

Never mind the length, the ratio...same. There is no set size, shape, length...

And--that's infernals, the Supernals have a set size of 50 feet, with sizeshifting abilities. Infernals have lengths based on their coloration combonation--a red-white would be smaller than a red-purple, but bigger than a pink-green...or something like that.

*facepalm* Pardon my scatterbrainedness -- today is... well, I had some wine, and I never drink, so I suppose I'm a little bit off right now.

X3 Those Infernal combinations sound... well, difficult! How does it work? ^^

I think I had it for a set size, some colors added to that set size, other colors took away from that set size, to give an overall size. The ratio would probably be the same...the smallest is a purified white-pale lavender at 45 feet, the largest is DF's Pitch Black at 200 feet (note that's larger than usual)

I think I had it...somewhere. I know I had it written down on paper, but who knows where that paper is now...

RI for the me. XD The Kynnese Dragons, also known as the Riihan. I've included both the racial name and the common one I'm trying to phase out, until I get the images set for the size chart.

Taia Riihan (Greater Kynnese Dragon)
Length: 45-60ft.
Height: 15-20ft.
Wingspan: N/A
Ratio: 1:3

Kaja Riihan (Lesser Kynnese Dragon)
Length: 20-30ft.
Height: 10-15ft.
Wingspan: 20-30ft.
Ratio: 1:2:2

Koha Riihan (Lesser Kynnese Dragon - Advanced)
Length: 50-60ft.
Height: 25-30ft.
Wingspan: 50-60ft.
Ratio: 1:2:2

Sema Riihan (Moon Dragon)
Length: 8-16ft.
Height: 2-4ft.
Wingspan: 3-6ft.
Ratio: 1:4:1.5
(Warning: Sema Riihan are bipedal. The numbers are still measured in the same manner, though, you'll just never see one walking in a quadrapedal style. They are small, and their wings do not appear to be able to carry them aloft, though some innate magic or power allows them to wing regardless. XD)

Aniya Riihan (Elder Kynnese Dragon)
Length: 72-126ft.
Height: 36-42ft.
Wingspan: 144-252ft.
Ratio: Anywhere between 1:2:4 & 1:3:6
(There is some variation between ratios and colors of the Aniya Riihan, thus, this range goes from the smallest size & ratio possible to the largest. The largest measurements on this one go to none other than Doralynmien, so look out special event guys and gals, your babies might get ALOT bigger than you expect.)

Hmm I don't have any exact sizes because I'm way too lazy to come up with that sort of detail, however I do have this size chart where the human is assumed to be about 6' tall if that helps any.

http://www.moon-struck.net/dragons/sizechart.jpg

That's for Cyrnan dragons. Tairesian dragons are basicly modified Alskyrians so there's no real need to include them *shrugs*

Er...do you want them on the chart? Would you like me to estimate sizes/ratios? Given an image, I can try, but they won't be perfect. X3

What are the color categories shown there? And as for species name, is Cyrnan - CR alright?

And DF, that was baaaaad/good. XDD

It goes a lot more past Avyndal....but Avyndal are like this. I'll put up more info later.

AY

Height--7-15 feet
Length--21-45 feet
Wingspan--52.5-112.5 feet

Please note that these measurements are just a basis...Given individual growth the proportions won't be exact. But yeah, that's more or less how they're built. XD

Rations are roughtly like this...height:length:wingspan

1:3:6.5

*glances back and wonders*

Kat, I have a question: Considering how many species I have, how would you want me to classify them? All the Anarian ones in one file or something like Anarian Legend, Common and Elemental? Then Setian (dragons, gryphons and sea dragons), and Pernese? Winged wolves, too?

I think I have to many species to make this easy...:(

Well, firstly, Pernese are getting their own chart-section, once I get on that. :) they're so widely-spread through the Nexus that I guess they deserve their own spot. XD

As for winged wolves, I think they're awesome, but this USC is mostly intended for dragony types. I am considering, however, making an Other Adoptables section, same as this one, but with winged wolves and gryphons and such forth and so on.

As for classifications of what you've got.. X3 That's up to you! I can take it either way. If you really want to know, the fewer categories the better, but it doesn't matter enough for me to insist. :3

Alrighty, just wondering. I was going to classify the Lantir-setian in one group to make it easier, including the gryphons but *shrug*. I was just wondering but I have no clue when I'll get to the information you need because my live be very hectic right now. :D

Ahh, well, that I can answer!

I need:
1. The title that all of your creatures are going under (in plural), plus a two-letter abbreviation you want to represent that. For example, Asandae - AS
2. The name of each type of creature.
3. Height at the shoulder, in feet or meters or both, for each type of creature
4. Height-Length-Wingspan(if applicable) ratio for each type of creature. OR, I can make that ratio for you, if you give me (for each creature, or just one for all of them if their ratios are the same) a single average measure for height, length and wingspan.
5. For you to tell me if you have or plan on making a visual height comparison chart. If not, that's fine, I'll just leave the option out of their chart.

That's all. ^^;; I know it sounds like a lot, but eh. I'm trying to be as exact as I can. ;)

Okay, I can eventually gather that for you. Though do you want me to give the average sizes because I have ranges for them rather then one set size. If you just want average, can you do a link to the site so people could get the smallest and largest size they come in?

Me confused but that might be because I'm tired...and my arm hurts in a weird way...grr...

*makes note to finish/work on Anar information and wolf information....and LSI and Pernese and...that's it!*

The 'one average size' section is only if you want me to calculate the height:length:wingspan ratio for you, because I thought you were having trouble with it.

I still want size ranges, as well. They will be the main thing I put up on the site. :)

Update~!

Take a look at the Basic Size Chart for the USC! They're numbered from Very Small to Massive, for reference of dragoners everywhere, and those trying to pick sizes-relative-to-human for their dragon species. :3

Also, for people who want to add your species to the USC, check back shortly at the first post for a form which will allow you to do so more easily.

Length: 2-8ft.
Height: 1-4ft.
Wingspan: 4-15ft.
Ratio: 1:2:3.5-ish.
