Geocities closing / Weyrs at risk?

LOL I know I have at least one small little queen that would be all for a "Frenzy Just For Her"...*waps Flynnth* I'm pretty sure she may be close to the same boat as Sixth...Heehee...I think I actually thought about doing something like that once but it never happened. The Sport-sized Frenzy thing. *sigh* XP

You all make me laugh with your role-playing tid-bits. LOL

You know, genetically, that Frenzy would be funny. *grins*

I would love to see that frenzy too... even if right now I only have one small dragon who'd be eligable (a Flynnth granddaughter... go figure)...

Yeah, I'm joining in the hijack of my own thread. lol.

(And yes, another old dragons snuck through... -swots her-)

ANYWAYs, I'll start work on getting sites saved and such, I'll save anything that people think needs saving, soo... I'm going to aim to try and do one or two a night or something, to make sure I don't run out of time... better they're all collected early on, then a mad rush and miss things at the end of the month.

I've started the somewhat monumental task of re-doing all my Dawnlight and Blackstone characters... almost all of them were originally done in Pagebuilder from yahoo so... I have to copy and paste *as text* into new pages, locate which images were supposed to be there..... well at least it's saved off the net now, so I can do this without worrying that I'll lose anything. Oh I have to finish getting my raanatani site down don't i.... oi.

You could save the source code for reference reasons -- not the code itself, but if you need to glance at the page to remember what it looked like once the actual pages are taken down!

..... >_> It really doesn't help that saving certain types of pages with the wrong command saves *ALL* the code: including the java, the geocities visit counter, the ad tab, everything. I've narrowed it down to the frame but it still codes with the rest of that crap so I still wind up removing only the text you can SEE, pasting it into the new page.

The bigger task actually will be linking everything up again properly. Hunting for names... oi.

Would people LIKE to see these sorts of candidates saved too? I'm planning to go through each page as I save it, so I can always go through and do the candidates (riders) as well... that'll be a much more time consuming process, and I'll probably leave that till after I've grabbed the Weyrs/etc... but, I'm not against grabbing what I can... though, how I'd archive them I'm not sure... (perhaps... a "riders" folder, within the archive, sorted into "A" "B" "C" and "multi" etc...)

The only reason I like riders' pages from other places is because then I can tell, perhaps, where the dragon came from and if I have to track down a pedigree for it. XD

I'd love to see rider pages saved! That would be positively keen, especially for pedigrees.

At this point if I'm on someone's geocities site I just ... make a new directory in my /geocities/ folder and start saving

No sense in just taking records or whatnot, if the characters are up, let's get em.

For my stuff I'm eventually going to have them reorganized the way they'd settle after some many years: Blackstone and Dawnlight, Alabaster, Alskyran, etc - and then my "other" candidates such as "magical", in other directories. But I think all my characters and dragons will eventually wind up on a huge a-z.
