I have a question!

Are there any rules about paging them/general info on the species?

There is some basic information here that I need to re-update soon, but it should have most of what you need. The only rule I have about paging is that I ask there be no more than 5-6 on a page. Other than that, they don't require bonds or sponsors, since they are wild, but a caretaker is usually preferred.

Does the colour of these guys' coats have anything to do with their abilities? X3 I've noticed some repeats for various coat colours, like bloodlust for red critters!

Yes, it does :]
Here is a rough table of power-bases

Red/Light red - fire based, sometimes energy based
Dark red - blood or fire based
Orange - energy or emotions
Yellow - light, energy, sometimes healing
Green - plant based, earth based
Light Green - energy based, plant based
Light Blue - ice based, water based
Blue - water based, emotion based
Aqua - water based
Purple/lavender - psychic based, emotion based, healing
Silver/Copper/Gold/Brass - metal based
White - snow, healing based, holy, light
Black - shadow, darkness, death
Gray - both light and dark

So their most powerful abilities will be related to their main fur color, but other abilities can stem from their marking color, or gem color.

It should also be noted that /can/ learn more than three abilities; the three they come with are just their most powerful and/or preferred abilities. Also, when it comes to the moons, silver moons are very rare. The majority of the time, a Zalor with silver moons has power that is not restricted to the phases of the moon.

And since I don't think it's noted on the information page, Zalor live in "prides", and can have an unlimited number in the pride, just not on the same page ;]

Well, for a world without a moon, they could either cope with always being at their weakest power, or wearing a piece of jewelry with a lunar rock. They would only be able to get a small boost from it, but it would allow for use of baser powers. For worlds with more than one moon, it increases their power, due to being subjected to extra lunar energy, so it would twice as strong as if there was only one moon.

>_> because.... there are some of my folks who would have use for such creatures, in the Star Wars universe stuff I do... and they live on a moon of a much bigger planet.

I think you'd be dealing one powerful little critter if they were on a moon directly. And they wouldn't have power phases either, they would probably stay at maximum levels what with the direct contact. You may even end up with a Zalor that /has/ to use it's powers regularly to avoid a power surge.

Ooh, such pretty Zalor, I'm loving the entire trio. *squishes them* Might be strange to say, but these colors are very... me. I couldn't be happier. ^_^

Just one side worry. I started developing a pride page for them before remembering the small animal to small child intelligence. So I have some complex interactions planned that are probably completely out of character for the species.

Would I be more correct in handling the purebred Zalor like Hunter Cats and Jracini (oddly, Pokemon come to mind, I suppose because of the elemental powers) as opposed to the sentient pet species, like the Rukel? Would dragon-based hybrids be more intelligent?

Also, for Zalor who don't have speech-based abilities (Empathy, Telepathy, and Verbal Speech, I'll assume), do they communicate vocally at all, or are they restricted to barks and other foxlike noises?

And sorry for the onslaught of questions. Just want to make sure I'm accurate to your vision of the critters, and once I start dabbling in writing, I can be insufferable in wanting to get all the fussy details right. =\

I suppose it would depend on the intelligence level you select as to how they would be handled. For example, around Holic, a Zalor with the mentality of a small animal would be given to a child as a pet. One with a higher level of intelligence would feasibly be treated like a Pokemon, with training and close bonds. And one of higher intellect could in theory live on it's own, learning a trade or using it's powers in some way to earn a living. They are a very variable species.

If it's not specified that they have a vocal ability, then intelligence once comes into play. As above, small animal = fox-like noises, chirping noises, and howling, while some could speak much like a parrot would, only using single words or short phrases, and others could be fluent. Of course you could also have a mute.

I'm in the middle of paging (finally) my Zalor, and I realize while I'm copying their ability descriptions for my own sanity/remembering, that several of them aren't defined on the website. I mean, they're not that complicated in name, but I'd rather have the official "because I said so" or "go ahead and make something up" before I commit stuff to the intarwebz.

Mirror Image
Rain Shower
Energy Drain

If you can either give me official definitions or an OK to make stuff up, that'd be great. Thanks. <3

Ice Storm (kinda obvious, but still)
Ice Wall (equally kinda obvious)
Crystal Shaping (any limits on size? type? - lol not for this one, she's the one on the moon...)
Light Flash
Shadow Banish (again both fairly obvious, but just wondering if there are any specifics about em)

Also, in your records, my first one is still listed as name pending... Her name's always been Blasting Capture.
