The strange seedlike eggs of the plant hydra's mysterious clutch were barely visable, only the very tips of them sticking out of the soft earth they had been carefully buried in. Their location was a massive celler, long abandoned, which smelled of dampness and mold, and wet earth. The only light, besides the fading rays of sunlight which streamed through the slit-like windows at the top of the walls, came from the tips of the eggs, which glowed more now then they had before. Perhaps it meant they were hatching.
For hours, they continued to glow more, until they were near blinding, while the motley assemblage of sponsors and bonding candidates gathered near the door. Ibyssa, the clutchmother, ignored them and the eggs, her back turned. She appeared to be asleep, though no one was going to risk the irate female's wrath by checking, or even approaching too closely.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity in the uncomfortable dampness, the tip of the first egg split open with a loud popping noise, having been stabbed open by the sharp snout of the plant-hydraspawn inside.
Unyko
An egg closest to the indifferent clutchmother popped open shortly after a few of it's brethren had opened, the dragonet inside struggling widely to open the hole. It took a few moments, but the shroomdragon stumbled out, damp, panting, with little cap-like spores that would turn into mushrooms already glowing a bright blue.
For a moment, it just sat there, regaining it's energy, before twisting it's two heads towards the candidates. It couldn't see any of them, but it could certainly smell them, and it wondered if any of them were at all edible. Keen to investigate the thought, it stumbled towards the assembled, wandering first towards
Cyron. One of it's heads snaked down and attempted to test the older dragon's claw for edibility, found the results to be unsavory. Thwarted in that effort, it turned both of it's heads upwards to Cyron, attempting a pleading hiss.
It's efforts were rewarded when it was led outside, to piles of what looked like compost, which it happily dug into.
