Alrighty, now that I can sit down for a few seconds to do this...

What you need to know about them:

The Gryphons of Ansul are initally pheonixs and have simular if not the same traits as a pheonix. As I really don't know anything other then what I know about Fawks from Harry Potter, I did create them to my needs in the Rerir novels and Fyrfac (which is his nickname, not true name), is either really talented/smart with his powers or simply the most powerful pheonix gryphon. I'm going with just being really smart.

Anyway, there powers include being able to carry things up to 5 times there weight with ease, empathy healing (which entitles them to care about the person they are healing and cannot be because they have to. Tears are not needed unless the wound is mortal.), and what is termed fire necromancy. I truthfully do not know how to explain the limits of a pheonix's abilities in necromancy unless I told you Fyrfac's story but that would ruin my novel plot so I'll try without telling you the story. Necromancy deals with the dead (duh

) and souls. While they can heal the wounds delt to the body (like a mage healer could), there are wounds that can happen to the soul or spirit. Fyrfac ends up embeding his own soul into a character in the story for more reasons then one. This enables that character to use the powers of a pheonix (but gets scared when Fyrfac offers this to him thus his soul is damaged constantly and ends up dying, burning and returning three days later as if nothing happened. His soul, however, was being torn with each death). Fyrfac uses the others soul to hide and recover from his own near death and until he regains full power (which cannot happen until a Blood Moon...not explain that because you won't have to worry about it), he is stuck in the mans body. If that man dies, he can use that body as a fill in until his powers enable him to return in true form. Fyrfac, as well as any other gryphon, tend to walk in Death, or the Netherworld, often and they are better equiped to surive there for extended periods of time unlike even the Arch Mage of Death.

Only two things can kill a pheonix - magic or a dragon. Dragons and pheonixs are much like cats and dogs and do not get along. What the dragon looks like or where they are from will not matter. A number of weapons were made that can kill a pheonix and they use either the claw or tooth of a dragon or the blood of one. Can a pheonix go to a dragon agency and live with dragons? Yes. But it will take a while for them to trust them. Will the blood and fangs/claws of the Nexus dragons hurt a Pheonix? Probably not but lets not put that to the test, shall we?

A pheonix is immortal. As they age and grow 'old' there coat will start to turn silver and there feathers will loose there luster. Eventually, the pheonix will go somewere alone and die, burning to ash. In three years, they reaturn as young. It takes two years for them to mature again. None of there memories are lost. An average 'livespan' is 100 to 150 years. The young you're are getting are unknown in there true age and have lived and died already.

Two powers that are rare for them to use are shapeshifting and seerism. Yes, Fyrfac has accomplised both and Emger Ronan is his only rival in seeing into the future - Fyrfac, however, is better and more reliable then the untrained Emger. Fyrfac also admits/admited to turning into a human in his younger years and lived as a human once. It is Fyrfac's beliefe that in Emger's veins is his blood which is why the Seer is so reliable for Seerism. That's a theory. There is no way to prove it and Fyrfac is vein enough to wish that. He's a bit of a stuck up at times. Right now, he's evil and under some nasty spells. He looks nothing like the above image thanks to evil magic. That is what he should look like.

If you enter this draw, I am asking more then a sign up sheet with your name, e-mail and a number. I want a caretaker. Since a pheonix dosn't bond (because they die and come back so often), I prefer a caretaker. Fyrfac 'bonded' Lord Kelberen in a way. It was a mutal agreement and Fyrfac made a vow to protect Kelberen and failed. Later, his loyalty turns to anouther. You can make a 'candidate' for a pheonix but there must be a reason for the pheonix to want to protect and serve them.

There will be a 'bonding' story and all of this will be held at Arminas Aeire on LSI. The records will be going there. (Guess this means I'll have to upload Arminas...*facpalm*

) You do not need to put a lot of effort into the story now - You can enter the draw and write one later. As these are a bit special, if not powerful, I would like a bit of effort. I would like to use the stories as a basis to choose who gets one rather then a number. Maybe that's because I kinds don't like it to be so random. Yeah, I'm doing that and if you don't like it, bite Segs! So, here is the form:

@Caco: If you want to send that character in I'll need you to decide if he/she is going to bond or sponser as that character is much like a pheonix and the pheonix gryphon would not have to worry about loosing Zabeth like with any other creatures.

On second thought, for as much as i LOVE and ADORE the art, I'm gonna sit this out, i think. X.x partially because i have no characters worthy, and all my characters are either bonded to dragons, dragons themselves, or standing somewhere anyways. Whatsmore, the chances that i'm gonna use the pheonix for anything other than roleplay are incredably slim, and i prolly wouldn't use it for that much either. MY writing skills are shit anyway, so.
I'll leave them to someone who can use htem for something. ^^; Maybe if they're available again, or have offspring. Will they be available again? ;-; -hopefull face- it's cool if not, though. I do adore them.

random thing i just thought about-- your cat dog analogy isn't completely accurate, at least in my experience. XP I know tons of cats and dogs who are homies~ but then, I was too young to remember when we first got our dog when we have cats, so i dunno about their initial interactions. Only that my male cat was my big bear-dog's best friend when I was older. -nodnod-

I hope that you don't mind if I send Dray in to sponsor--for one thing, she's excellent at what she does and has exceptional skills in making /any/ creature feel at home at the Ranch of Doom. For another, there are at least two gryphonic creatures at the Ranch as of yet (I don't believe that I've had a chance to send in more, but I have a hankering to get me some gryphon or bird-like creatures, so I'll be adding to that!) so if one of these lovelies decided to join her, she or he would have company in the face of a variety of dragons.

For a third, I'm not sure if Phe is going to enter, but having a pheonix gryphon living in the same place as Phoenix (barring the different spellings) would be highly entertaining.

Lastly, Dray is my first, fastest, most favorite character in the Nexus, so you can be certain that I'll be writing stories with walk-in positions for one of these--if not whole chapters revolving around them!

I don't have a story right now, since I'm away from home and only have access to the internet for brief periods of time--but once I am at my home computer and can crack open a file, I'll write something which I hope can persuade you to pick my entry. X3 Do you have any information which you'd like our story to center around? You mentioned LSI--would you like to see a story of our character arriving at the place and interacting with some of your characters--meeting a pheonix gryphon and trying to persuade it to come back with them (or is that too far?)--or something along those lines? I'm open to anything.

Also: Would a Nexus-dragon feel some kind of animosity towards one of these guys, or is it just the dragons from their place of origin? Specifically, Avengaean Asandae and Asandus half-breeds? (I'm thinking of Dray's two bonds, who would likely be accompanying her.)

*smirk* The handful of young pheonix gryphons that will be at Arminas arrived on there own, on accident and could not get back to Rerir. The AeireLeaders, Merlin and Nimune, are trying to keep them a seceret and the youngsters are currently living in the forests of Arminas' valley away from humans until they can decide what to do with them. Now, there are gryphons that can't keep quite so it is possible the rumor has spread that some strange, magical, beautiful creature has come to Arminas, eh? However your character finds out is up to you.

What will 'judge' who gets one is going to be the reason why they come looking for them.

Truthfully, it is unknown what there reaction to the Nexus dragons will be. No doubt, they will be leary about dragons. It is possible that they overcome that natural fear and live peacfully with them. The dragons of Rerir are different then the dragons commonly seen around the Nexus. It will be a shock for them but I have a feeling they will get use to it...How they handle dragons will be up to you. You cannot breed them with dragons. That, I, or they, will allow.

Gryphons, yes but no dragons.

I've decided to make this more like a clutch. When the fair is over (end of next week), I'll probably get to organizing this more. Right now must get stuff ready so show Zeeny!

I'll put stuff up at Arminas...

Also, did draw kit images for them and might draw the old images for them, too (the image of the age when they're getting to the time they're going to burst into flames and rise from the ashes...) Yes, I'll set a deadline but after the county fair.

I am also going to do a few more clutches after this group goes out so there will be other opportuinties to get them. Information and stuff is going to go up at Arminas.
