Rocks give me funny looks. ;-; it makes me sad sometimes. >.> but that's fine. ^^ -hugs- probably a good thing. Actually, that was good, ebcause it gave me a chacne to see just how much i'd changed it. ._. i've noticed i take ideas and change them, becuase i'm wierd like that. I did that with pernese dragons, too, though they already suited my standards pretty well, so i didn't have to change as much. >.>
but yes. thankyou~
As for art, i'd do that myself, so no copyrights~ I looked up horse skeletons even. They look bloody wIERD. that many joints and bones in legs should be illegal~

mmk, i got off my bum and drew a thestral. :/ andihateit, but i hate everything i draw. It looks like a chipmunk, and it's disproportionate, and messy. I was trying to keep the lines clean, you can see that a bit with the head, but then i gave up by the time i reached the shoulders. X.x
But yes.
Suitable or scrap?

Look, i even labeled it!
The following are my prelim sketches. horses have the bloody wierdest skeletons. If i do the head like i was originally planning, which is less skulllike, it'd look like this. :/ trying to modify it. the above was drawn strait on the computer, these were done by hand on paper. might use something made like this, if these are better, but then i'd have to ink on the computer which isapainintheass.

I might just suggest studying the equine skeleton a little for the legs--everything else looks great. I love the head.

>.> I was drawing over an equine skeleton at one point to get the hang of it, and then I got the the legs and stared because THAT MANY JOINTS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. and then i gave up. but thankyou. >.> I'll go over it again sometime later, because that's one point that was bugging the hell out of me. ^^ thanks.

I think it's good, except something bugs me about the way the front legs look like they'd move....Can't place what it is though....They seem really stiff at least....

'Epic' is most concisely defined as something that, were you to do it in view of a person in real life, they'd pretty much have to sleep with you immediately to maintain order in the universe.
I sneezed. It seems to have reshaped reality. My bad.

Well something that may help--see the leg joints at the center of the leg, beneath the joint that meets the chest? The joint at the chest is the elbow, the lower joint is the wrist. So you don't really need to draw the heel down against the ground. If you'd just put the ball of the 'hand' and the claws down it would look a lot better there.
Same with the backlegs. The first joint up from the foot is the hell. So if you'd take out the heel further down it would make it a lot neater.

So that's two for revise the legs. -nods- I noticed that too, though, about the front legs. :/ I think it's because I was trying to emulate an unfamiliar reference.

You can sorta see the way i tried to follow the lines, btu failed magnificently. X.x I'm going to redo them with the skeleton picture inthe next window, i think.
edit cuz i just saw it:
ASDASDJASKDA SILVER I LOVE YOU. -pounce- I just imagined that and it works. ;-; thankyou, i was at a loss~

The joint directly above the hooves would be what is on humans the ball of the hand. Where the fingers connect. =) That's why it looks like there's so many joints. Horses only have one 'finger'.

Modified lineart. What do people like better, this or the old? this one is more anatomically correct. :/ I don't like the legs, but eh. And i don't like the hooves, i wanted to keep them claws, but there was like.. no way to work that in on a horse leg without adding three or four extra joints. They're jointy enough. >.>

Anatomically, I think it's better. The legs look more like the skeleton picture you posted. There's something about the wings that are off though. o.O Maybe take a look at a bat in flight and see if that helps? Maybe it's just that they don't seem /as/ skeletal as the rest of the creature. I dunno.
I like it though. Definitely worth adopting. :D

The wings could use joints or something on them--maybe claws at the ends. But I think it looks good as-is. :O

I like the modified one too - very cool. *shudders* heh I would love to see the reaction of a Zekiran character to one of those, though. They breed and race flying steeds, and have stiff laws about the care of Steeds on their world... heh. They'd take one look at those and be all "the owner should be Exiled!"

They're good practice for smoothing out your construction lines - though on a mouse that's obviously close to impossible. Using a pencil or pen, it's much easier to get a long, smooth curve. It does take practice to get a nice single line, though. For the longest time I would draw curves by making dozens of tiny little sweepy lines, but I've come a long way.
Heh. I better start prepping Zora Domina and her people to have a few of these lingering around outside the school.

Thestral version 1.3

The bat wings were hard to work with, but i think this IS better than the last. XP thanks for the suggestions, guys, you spruced up what would otherwise be crappy. Still not the best it could be, but usable.
Any other suggestions? And don't worry about the excess marks, i've cleaned those up already. i just didn't want to save it a fourth time. >.>

Definitely better! :D These just look cooler with every update! Though I would suggest adding another tine off the first one so that the wings don't look so... stiff. Makes them a bit bigger too.

XD Oh dear. Would you mind if I copied the image so that I could do a bit of red-line editing? It's easier to show by example than to explain.

Okay, here we go.

Now, I've pointed out the tines on here too, so that it's easier to explain. Tines are what we call the bones that separate wing membrane. For example, Hathians are single-tined while, lets say... Draco Inferno dragons are four-tined.. That means there's only one bone to extend the membrane from the body in Hathians, but three in Denners.
Example 1
Example 2
What I've done with your thresal is added another joint to the tines so that they're more bendable. I put in the back wing too to give you an idea of depth. o.O I hope this helps.
