As every kid goes through that phase in life, my Midori and Ryoushi have now reached that stage where they want a pet of their own to care for. So, over the weekend, we all went to the pet store to browse at pets that they might want to have. Midori wasn't interested in the big pets that were out, I thought that he might want a fish or something but instead, he was staring fascinatedly at an ant colony. Ryoushi on the other hand looked at all the pets. I thought that he might go for a dog since he is so active. Instead, he sat staring adoringly at a little hamster who was currently running inside a hamster wheel.

Well, it seems like Kata would Run crying to me for support, she (Kata is identifying more as a she then a he, at this point) seems to want to be brave and suck it up, but this particular "boo boo" just hurts to much. A quick kiss on the boo boo, and a cuddle, seems to be all it takes to have her off and running again - happily oblivious once again.

Emotional little bugger that he is, of course Kaonashi runs crying to me for support whenever he gets hurt. Even the littlest of injuries need tending and reassurance! We can’t have a sulking Kaonashi because he mistakenly assumes he’s not worth your time because you won’t get a bandaid for his papercut. ^.^;;; My poor precious insecure baby.

Crux is a very rough and tumble little fellow considering he's all egg-shaped right now. That whole "Weebles wobble but they never fall down" thing just doesn't seem to apply -- he's always falling over or off of stuff. (He usually lands sunny-side-up.) I watched him crash into the bookcase last night and get buried under an avalanche of books. I was halfway to the rescue when he, laughing, dug his way out of the pile and went on his merry way, seemingly oblivious to the new limp he'd acquired. I'm still not sure if he was toughing it out, or if he just didn't notice.
Calon was most excited to go on our adventure to the pet store. Considering he's already got plants to tend and knows how useful and/or useless stone is, he skipped right past the Chia pet and the decorative rocks. I was a little bit surprised when my plant-boy chose the Finch though. A little bird. I'm not sure how the "pet birds live in cages" thing is going to go over...

Mercutio is into everything, all the time, and since the incident with the pots and aluminum foil... he's been trying to make things. Some of the supplies he finds are a little sharp, though, or he might actually drop something as his paws aren't the best for holding something. Most of the time he runs for the bandages and fixes himself. I -really- wish he would have told me when he impaled his tail on the scissors once, though. 0_o;;; Since then I've kept all the edged tools or anything serious locked away from him. I'm not even sure how he got those.

RK doesn't tend to get himself hurt. I've seen him fall off the deck, and when I just about had a heart attack, he shook himself off, and scampered back after the small bird he'd been stalking. I checked him over later, and there wasn't even a sore spot on him!
Then again, the other day he managed to dislocate his shoulder. I have no idea how - I turned my back on him for an instant and the next thing I know he's favoring his right side and looking sad. He didn't exactly come running crying to me for support, but I think the experience was so new he needed some reassurance and guidance from me. (Go figure that the next day he ran straight through a patch of thorny roses, and all the pause he gave was to pull the thorns out of his paws with his teeth before taking off and sprinting around again as much as his little egg-shaped body can.)

I didn't even know he knew where the bandaids were! So this has either happened before, or he's just already been into everything in the house. Sneaky little devil.

Remember that tree I said Sora likes to meditate under in his spare time? Well, a finch landed in the tree a couple of days ago and he happened to take a liking to it. Normally I would have discouraged keeping the thing, but it kept coming back every day and hung around outside even when Sora came into the house. Odd as the relationship is, the two seem to be best friends of sorts. I had to bring an indoor tree into the house to accommodate the new arrival, but Sora seems pretty delighted,, so all is well.

The other day Ecto found a garter snake while she was lazing about in the garden. She crawled alongside it all day and then tried to take it in with her when I called her in for bedtime. I wouldn't let her take in a wild animal, so first thing next day we picked out a pretty grey corn snake online to ship over! It's cute how it wraps around her dainty little legs for warmth.

Ranoc, during on of his play sessions, managed to get himself a nice gash on one of his feet. He didn't even notice the cut, and I only found out when he came to get his lunch and saw the damage! I bandaged it up, but he seems more inconvenienced by the bandage than the gash XD

Tanis has been showing more responsibilty with the few things I ask, especially helping to keep Ranoc out of trouble, so when he showed interest in getting a pet, I felt he could handle it. When we went to the pet store to pick out his new friend, he was amazed by the wide variety of choices! But he was immediately drawn to the bright, floaty fins of the betta fish! One in particular caught his eye, and we left the store that day, he had a lovely green and black betta to take care of.

Well, this was a grand adventure, pulling two Didra gons along with me to the pet shop. Kamaeli immediately started staring at the rows upon rows of fish tanks they had, so she was easy enough to keep track of, but Teyngan... my god! Off like a shot, poking at the various things around the shop. He eventually settled on a snake, and seems to enjoy wearing it around his neck all the time when he's walking around. Good thing I'm not afraid of snakes like my grandmother is! Kamaeli got some fish and insisted on making an indoor version of her large pool outside... no small fishtank for her! The thought has crossed my mind that, if I acquire any more of these critters, I'm going to need to add onto the house!
