StarFyre, that's okay -- there's those freebies in this batch for you in the meantime!

Yakima, could it be Phe or JKatkina? I know that both weren't big Pern-style writers, but they both worked hard to make their pages presentable and lovely.

No, it was one of the people that vanished a long time ago (and I tried checking my records but they are very out of date with all the geocities links. >.< ) Whoever it was didn't have many dragons from Falas but I certianly do remember the pages. I'll try looking at the FGPC records. I like my layouts but I want to see if I can improve them. :)

Regardless, improving pages and getting things consolidated is kind of a nice if OCD-satisfying way to do things. X3 I know where you're coming from, trying to consolidate three sites' worth of pages into one area both IC and OOC. Next, to see about making all of those pages over with actual CSS involved. :I

I am happy to announce that after two years, we have hatched dragons! Hooray!

Story: http://www.lambeosaurine.com/oldblood/w1.html
Pickup: http://www.lambeosaurine.com/oldblood/w1pu.html

I have updated pedigrees linked on the pickup, rider charts under "riders" and the by-RL-person list is at the bottom of the story.

Please let me know if you find any broken links or inconsistencies etc.

Psst, any http://artdragon.mine.nu/~kat/aven/ links from my old site should be changed to http://www.avengaea.com/characters/ links. :3 This was awesome, Delyar. Makes me wish I'd gotten a few freebies in there!

That was really awesome, Delyar! :D I quite enjoy reading about your locations and the people... there's definitely a rich sense of history and everyday life going on in the background. Would it be okay if I left my weyrlings at Shintaru Weyrhold? Any chance that we could get a brief rundown of what a weyrling's life is like, there, and directions to the weyrlingmaster?

And on the admin side of things, WAVE II is now open. Freebies (3 per person) Candidates (5 per person, stats or stories acceptable), and Parental Freebies (as many as you had parents in the Frenzy, barring the ones already claimed!) are up for grabs! Just let me know. I'll update the forms in the first post and this post for anyone who wants to sign up for the next batch.

(Since only one queen hatched in the first batch, there are now three up for grabs in the second... :U they'll only be going to storied candidates, however!)

This is awesome! I'll get them paged ASAP, and I just got a plot bunny for a potential queen candidate, so you'll be getting at least one storied candidate from me in addition to the freebie slots and whatever else I end up sending. :D

You're totally welcome to leave them there. :)

In brief, post-hatching will involve the newly bonded dragons moving from the centre of the sands to the edge of the large dome where a specially constructed side room/bay has been built (basically it's a really big overhang). In this room, they will find food and refreshments for both dragons and riders. It is also here that Weyrlingmaster K'aym (rider of gray-white Annanth) will meet them and take them under his wing. They will then be brought to their barracks, a rather long building where they will room in groups of 4 (later moving to rooms of 2 with more room for their dragons as they grow). The rest of the day is a free day and there is a feast at night with family, friends who could secure passage and dignitaries.

An average day for the weyrlings will involve waking up at the crack of dawn (5-6 AM) in order to feed and oil their bonds then eat breakfast in the lower caverns' dining hall. They then have Dragonriding Class wherein they learn everything a Pernese rider is expected to know when they graduate (this includes aerial tactics, aerial navigation and recon, Thread fighting techniques, proper teleportation etiquette, teleporation theory and techniques and so on). They break once in mid morning (~9-10 AM) in order to oil down their bonds and then go back to class until lunch (again in the dining hall, only after oiling their bonds again). The afternoon is spent with their Guild of choice (since this is a Weyrhold, every individual is expected to take up some form of trade). They are then tasked with duties according to their rank and skillset. Again, they are allowed one break in mid afternoon (2-3 PM) to oil their bonds then go back to the guild until (another oiling then) supper . They are given a two hour break (5-7 PM) to eat supper at their leisure (served again in the dining hall but they can make their own arrangements). After supper, the young dragons are usually asleep and the riders get drowsy as well. If the rider shows exceptional promise or difficulty, they can be tasked with meeting with the relevant educator for a 2-3 hour session. Lights out in the barracks is at 10 PM. Half of each day of the weekend is spent in group classes to increase their dragon's strength but they have the rest of the day off (which may be overridden by remedial/expert classes or trade work if they need/wish). Dragons also spend the majority of their weekdays being trained by Annanth and Kuivith (Bratmaster Rasaeba's black-red dragon) in order to increase their strength, guarantee good muscle development and teach them how to fly.

As their dragon grows up and the rider's skillset grows, they are split into smaller classes based on their strengths. Once their dragon is a year old, theory classes are replaced by practical classes to increase dragon/rider cohesion in manoeuvres. At first, these classes are only from 6-9 AM but as the dragon passes 2 years they end up taking the whole morning. At this point, most riders no longer need theory classes and their specialized classes involve independent assignments to be completed during their evenings and weekends. In many cases, specialization overlaps with guild skillset, allowing riders to optimize their time by doubling up on tasks.

When the dragon reaches 2, they begin to learn how to teleport. By 2.5, foreign pairs are allowed to leave with an escort to assist them home. At this point, resident pairs move into individual weyrs based on predicted adult size of their dragon. If this were a Pass, they would also now be allowed to deliver firestone during Thread.

Once the dragon reaches the age of 3, they are given much more freedom, can graduate from classes and be assigned to a wing. Some pairs are held back in order to perfect their technique so that they are not a hindrance to their wing. They still have to report to the watch dragon every time they leave in order to confirm they have appropriate coordinates until they achieve at least 20 perfect teleports. After this, they are considered adults and wingriders. They engage in wing exercises every weekend but are otherwise largely left to their guild/specialized tasks.

Hopefully that makes sense! Feel free to ask for clarification. (I can also doodle up a map of the complex at some point today/tomorrow if that would help.)

Oneyx and Briaraneth (Love those names, BTW!): http://erinnyes.co.cc/pern/riders/oneyx/
O'spi and Ornez'Cach: http://erinnyes.co.cc/pern/riders/orespi/
A'that and Cath: http://erinnyes.co.cc/pern/riders/ayethat/

I'll probably snag some freebies for the next wave and send some stats-page candidates your way also (if that's alright?). I am SORELY tempted to write some actual storied Candidates and try for a gold or bronze, but I sort of promised myself I'd stop going for the metallics for a while, I have too many of them and none of them get any attention. I miss the good old days where there were like a dozen active Weyrs people were running and my dragons had flights and things to do. I know I must be insane but I get the feeling that they'd be really bored these days, sitting around and collecting dust. ;)

The hatching was brilliant! :) You guys put so much work into this, and it shows!! Thank you!

I know how you feel, with the sitting around thing. I wound up separating all of my dragons into Niduses of about 100 each (since I have so many non-Pernese dragons, I felt weird naming 'em 'weyrs'!) and making up a timeline... while everyone else was quiet on the Nexus, I've been matching a year to about two weeks and more or less running my own flights and clutches. >.> Not writing stories for them, since nobody's around to read them, but it's still kind of fun to see how the little bubble of world works when I run it myself.

Freebie requests and candidates are completely welcome. :3There are forms to fill out, but I'll be writing up candidates for freebies, and if you want lower-ranking colours (or alternately, non-traditionally Pernese colours, as there are those!) don't be afraid to ask. I may toss a gold or bronze your character's way unless you ask specifically not for one, if it's storied. There were five golds to be hatched in this frenzy, and only one's been claimed when I meant to send out two in the first wave.

Delyar deserves all credit for writing. I've just been doing the candidates and art-stuff. :3

You must have a method of updating your webpages that is much faster than mine. >_> Paging 3 Candidates took me like 2 hours, I can't imagine creating timelines for 100+ dragons! Timelines are something I might actually consider doing if I get more free time... It would be a good way for me to populate my "Weyr" (with NPCs), and I could let my golds have clutches and feel less like they're floating in suspended animation. XD The only drawback is them getting old and retiring/dying, as weird as it sounds I can accept them getting old but losing them entirely creeps me out. ;) How do you handle that for the Niduses? (Nidii? What's the plural for that?)

It's past midnight here so I'll hunt down the forms tomorrow. ;) This clutch is definitely getting my creative juices flowing again!

It's a project I've been working on for a couple of years off and on. I only have one fully up and running... the rest have a bunch that aren't yet re-paged. I tend to rewrite histories to update them so it takes forever. D:

I've considered having a 'retired' section for my older dragons; just moving them over to a dragony old-folks-home as it were without actually killing 'em off without good reason. They could still technically participate in flights where time passing doesn't matter, but in my own worlds they'd be considered elders. I've never really figured out if it's 'Niduses' or 'Nidii', though 'Niduses' is more immediately logical, 'Nidii' seems more appropriate considering that individual dragon-homes are 'nidulus/niduli'.

Requests?: For both of these candidates: A high-ranker would be nice, but I'm not really THAT picky, as amusing as having these two as rival junior weyrwomen would be. XP I'd be cool with either of them getting a green or whatever.

Let me see if there's a way to poke Delyar via email or something, just in case that's all it takes. It looks like Delyar renamed the images before giving them out, as mine are all quite different! They're named things like 'Brown-CopperRainbowSunset' and are sorted by parents. :I I really need to learn a better system of sorting things, ha!

ETA!

I found something!

Name: Kilafemaleth
Gender: Female
Colour: Rainbow-Green
Size: Green-Sized
Abilities: Psionics (Telepathy, Teleportation), Firebreath
Basic Personality: Observant to the point of being seen as somehow prescient or empathic, Kelafemaleth has a good knack for knowing when to store and when to share secrets. She seems to be a natural source for other dragons to share about their rider's lives, as she is good at sitting and listening for hours. She has never shared that, for instance, she sees knowledge as a source of power, always playing a demure role. Very occassionally, Kilafemaleth will use her skills to manipulate a situation to her liking, though noone has ever traced the outcome of her schemes back to her.

Although... Kilafemaleth I have listed as going to Delyar, not to Yakima. O_o

Instead, for Yakima I have this:

Image
Name: Nellianth
Gender: Male
Colour: Clouded Brown
Size: Brown-Sized
Abilities: Psionics (Telepathy, Teleportation), Firebreath
Basic Personality: Nellianth has a wry sense of humour that is grounded in his quick understanding of most situations around him. He trends towards assessing conflicts -- or more appropriately, battle formations on the wing -- than in less tense social structures like socializing, but though he doesn't often speak up loudly or at length, his witicisms make him an engaging bond.

I am asuming that the records for this Frenzy is now lost? I am having a feeling I never saved the information for my dragons at all. :( I will probably just make stuff up, I guess. *sighs* And I am wondering why I saved that rainbow if she wasn't me, unless something was listed wrong. I already knew about Nellianth. *blinks and pokes things* Oh well, back to Excel spreedsheet and my "little" project...

Just a heads-up that the records for this frenzy have been revived and are being kept here in the Pickup Page, and once updated, we'll have a quick bonding listing under each set of parents. I hope that helps!

An early update here, too! I'll soon be taking in a new wave of candidates/novos for this clutch! I'll be doing most of my advertising via the discord server, but if you keep track of the community trello board you'll see the details pop up there as well.

Basically, everyone will have 1 freebie they can request a rider and a dragon for, but your choices are limited to colour rank (gold, bronze, brown, blue, green). Once you have paged a freebie, you may request another! Stories and completed stats pages will always get precedence: you can then request parentage and more specific colour combos (like rares, down through specific marking types.) Only those who still have parent freebie slots (eg: you sent in a participant) can choose a specific dragonet from their participant's clutch. Those are one-use!

More details in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

Im facing a issue with the program I use for updating pages (basically bf's friend who let me use his Adobe Sub just told me he's canceling it and given I use Dreamweaver templates to easily update menus and layouts without changing EVERY SINGLE PAGE BY HAND...I'm screwed and scrambling and pissed.) But I will start working on some for you. ;)
