It's Raining Again

Post by Keilin Alyr »

I suppose a few of you guys know we've been trying to purchase a house the past few months, if only through some snippy comments as I've been venting frustration. But we finally closed last Friday. Our little foreclosure, with its held-up paperwork and the arbitrary seller delays, is finally ours!

In the meantime, we've had some interesting guests visit as we've packed the townhouse. Hurricane Bill last weekend. Tropical storm Danny... right now. Because we currently live in a poorly zoned area in Norfolk, this means rain. Too much rain.

I managed to grab some pictures while Bill was in the neighborhood, just as the rain was calming down. I'm just hoping Danny won't be the third time in as many weeks that the complex floods.

As a side note, I can't wait to be moving into the new house. x.x

The view across the street. Complete with (knee-deep) waterfront living for a limited time only. We actually saw some kids come outside in bathing suits to splash in the water. =)

Across the side street. Note the wake created by the incoming SUV. These became fairly impressive waves, kinda reminding me of the ocean.

Poor little mantis just wanted out of the rain.

On the flip side to all of this dreary and wet, huge storms leave awesome sunsets behind... and my car didn't get flooded again. XD

Oh ye gods, don't talk to me about rain!

c.c;; after that damn inland hurricane we had here in Southern Illinois (from which some places are still trying to recover, three months later -- yeah, I'm looking at you, businesses without signs and schools/hotels/churches without roofs), we've really just been hit by storm after storm. Nothing like going, "*sunny evening* We need to go shopping for food. *pause for a moment, talk to roommates for five minutes* ... Uhm.. I ain't goin out in that 0.o;; *stare out at the sheets of rain obscuring the cars three feet away from the doorway*"

And then if that's not bad enough, followed by sun! And humidity! And then more rain the next evening!

*shakes fist at sky*
