Question about the Kijana's magic!
When you say "blood magic" - I have a vampire I'm going to be pairing her up with. Would magic OF the blood be able to cure him, or is her magic more 'spill the blood and use it as ritual magic' type? Either way she's perfect.

I'm still trying to figure out a term for that magic. I might have to change it, now. No, it has nothing to do with using blood. Blood Magic refers to 'real' magic. They don't require any spells or chants or runes to use it. They think something and and happens, more like. However, they can run low/run out of magic and rest and food 'recharge' it. It has nothing to do with the actual blood only that the magic is in the blood, per say. That's why I called it Blood Magic. I'll try to come up with a different term so no one else gets confused.Shard wrote:Question about the Kijana's magic!

Gyaaaa~aah! They're /all/ so gorgeous (but especially mine. X3!) Thank you! I'll have him paged soon!
... And on that note...
I feel dumb asking, but if you don't ask, you just spend forever feeling dumb for not having asked, so I'm reallly sorry if this is explained somewhere else. x_o I couldn't find it last night, and my dumb has furthered itself into this afternoon.
For my guy, one of the Ortari, a portion of his stats reads:
x_o
Thanks.

Their are 6 countries in Anarendor (Anar), Treval (where Treval Dragonry is located), Ketha, Saarn, Kilbranra, Narda, and Amkal. Each country has their own 'strain' of Ortari. Their is no real difference in them, save some might be more apt to living in certain regions then others. Each strain is called a Kindred. (In addition to those six, their is the Magic Kindred and the Celestial Kindred, both are rare). Your dragon is from the Amkalian strain, thus has the Kindred Amkeer. Each gender has a specific name depending on the type. Your dragon is a Light Dragon. The male version of the last name is Khadir. The female has a different one that sounds similar.ixris wrote:... What is a kindred, and why does it influence his last name, and why are they two completely different words?KINDRED: Amkeer (Last name is Khadir)
For example, (since the Trevlan (or Trevalian) Kindred is complete)...
I also have an Air dragon like The Feline's. She is female, though so instead of Cianell her last name is Cianna. So, her name is Ariss Cianna. Her mate is a Trevlan Fire Dragon. He 'named himself' after his sire (he wouldn't answer his rider in anyway until Aravon called him that name...then his attitude had a 180 change.

The 'last name' has nothing to do with lineage or parentage. It's more like a way to display their pride. They don't use it to track parentage or anything. So, when/if you breed them, it's not going to matter what type of dragon the babies are, if you use their 'last name' then you use their Kindred names and name them according to type.
Also, they can't get their Kindred Name until after six months because that's when their powers manifest. Those little gemstone things on the tips of their scales...they change from milky white to a specific color after their sixth month. If the dragon dies, those 'gems' harden and fall off the dragon. They then become Dragonstones and /can/ have magical properties. Elves and Dwarves are both good at 'harvesting' them. Elves are better at preserving the magic and can infuse them with more (often with the help of a Kijana or Tavrayn), and Dwarves see them more like rare, precious stones and use them for jewelry and weapons.
Feel free to ask anything. The Ortari are the most complex species I've created - and yet they're so simple at the same time....hmmmm...weird.

Awesome! That explains things really well to me, actually! <3
Is there a specific time period between the different stages for the Ortari? Or are they one of those dragons that "well, they grow up when they feel they're ready." kind of deals?
I ask, because I'm pretty sure I know where I want to put him (much to the chagrin and annoyance of other characters XD), but a timeline between growth stages will help that decision.
And, since the story's already well under-way, I'd have to jump this on him, so would he go to the dragon, or would the dragon come to him? (most Nexus things I've noticed, you go to the dragons, but I know Uny's Suva, the dragons come to you, so I figure I'd ask that, too, to tell whether someone ought to be figuratively showing up at their door or not before I have to write it. XD )
I think that's all the absurd questions I have. o_o Thanks again! <3

I'm having mine come as a young adult to the Healing Den, if that's okay. Since she's got planeshifting I would suspect that'd be okay

The bond between a rider and Ortari is stronger if the bonding occurs at hatching or within a few days. Ortari will bond later in life up until they are 1 year old. Bondings occur in many different ways. The person (for they prefer people or humaniods - when i get their history up, you'll know why), can be someone they just met or have seen around. What happens is a bit like Pernese Impression where the two just know. But it's more of a magical feeling, not mind like Pernese. All the same emotion is their, though.
For the others of you, Bonding with the other species is simular though not as potent. The Ortari were pretty much bred and born and raised to fight along side humans. The other species arn't though they don't mind bonding if they really feel the need or want to.
As for timeline stuff (and this is where I realized I messed up on something...>.<):
0 months to 4 months - learn to talk and everything.
4 months to 6 months - magic starts to develop; will be pronounced and definate at 6 months. They have a 'ceremony' to get their names from their parents but they can get their names without this ceremony
6 months to 18 months - wings start to develop fully in the 5th month however they arn't ready to fly until the 6th or 7th. Magic strength and endurance continues to grow.
18 months to 2 years: Can fly, breath fire/ice, use magic, fight and do all that cool stuff.
Keep in mind that plane shifting is the same as teleproting and is dangerous. I got the idea from D&D I think...or the concept there of. There are/they beilve that their are planes or levels and they use one ot live in, one is for the dead, one is for the gods, one for demons, and their is another plane of which they can use to travel in. You can breath and everything when traveling through the planes...I'll try to explain that later...
Hope that helps
Oh, and their is this. It's incomplete but it might help...maybe. *shrug*

Okay, fine, you all convinced me of this (sorta, not offically)
Here is the (very incomplete) site for Anarendor.
http://www.wolf-mage.com/anarendor/
The stat info on the dragons is up. It should help though I think I need to change some info after redoing sizes for a few species. *blink* But the very incompelte chart for the Ortari Kindreds is up, too.
I might actually try to change the layout to something more like this:

(its my new home page site that I'm working on

Truthfully, I would love to see what you would do with them so you're welcome to do one yourself.Dray wrote:A female! If I were to pair her up with one of my males, would you be interested in doing a Sun Warrior clutch? Or would I have the right to do a purebred clutch, myself? I'd love to disperse some of these bad-ass dragons! X3
All these species, even the Ortari, are allowed to be bred outside Anar and if you want to do your own pure-bred clutch, you are welcome to. You are welcome to use my generators, too, which I have up at my home page. And I am working on redoing the info site for Anarendor so the dragon information should be up soon, too, at least the quick stat sheets.
