Feeling too busy to participate?

Post by Dray »

I know that I am, these days! D:

Has anybody else been lurking around the Nexus, wanting to participate but feeling unable to, due to school, work, or other obligations/priorities that are keeping them away?

I know that I, at least, have been wanting to do something dragon-y and Nexus-y for a while, but I haven't had the time to commit to working on big projects (I hate starting to work on a story, only to have to stop a paragraph later! >.<"") But I was wondering if anybody else is feeling the same way.

I was thinking of having something that we can work on in small portions, to save our sanity and feed our Nexus cravings. If anybody is interested and has some suggestions, I'd like to hear them!

As it is, I was thinking of holding some kind of little dragon trade-in system. No... actual dragons would have to be discarded or anything, but I can't think of a better word for it.

We could start this thing off by drawing flit-sized images. No pressure, no really big restrictions to obtaining them. Just draw what you feel like, adopt them from the 'Giveaways' thread, or from your web page, and add more when and how you feel like.

Once we have more time, we could arrange some kind of 'trade in' system! For instance, if you adopted out a whole schwack of flitters during a time when we were busy and only had so many to give out, you could recieve points for having paged them, and maybe get a bigger template (without giving away the flits) as a 'thankyou' from the people drawing them. :3 Or, if not a template, then some other kind of reward, like a 'one space free' token to send a sponsorship into a clutch.

In any case, I figure that something like this might provide some incentive to poke around the Nexus while we're all super busy; allowing people to participate who might otherwise shy away at the prospect of lots of paging and writing and whatnot.

@.@ Any thoughts?

I like it :)

.... a schwack of flitters? Is that what they're called? :) I always heard 'faire' or fair or flock or... lol!

It's a tiny step into a sort of 'market' geared directly for our sort of adoption, which isn't bad. I would personally never want to institute a full-on market thing because that's just WAY too much like paperwork for me...

Would it have to be flit-sized images? I am notoriously /bad/ at drawing anything small... XP

But yeah, anything that would make it easier to get things out into the Nexus and be involved in the Nexus sounds like fun to me! :)

....draw it big then shrink it? *blinks* :P

I feel the same way but I'm also on an unofficial hiatus, using the time to get caught up on paging dragons and finish the renovations on my sites so I can move them all to there new home. :)

Of course not! :D I guess this is like a Nexus-specific FAP, though everybody gets to make their own rules.

The one thing that I might suggest: maybe less strict rules for paging than with our usual fare... just because paging is a big part of the process, and leaving the option to page these guys in small groups (schwacks? XD) might encourage people to poke in more often. :3 Xalia, if you'd like to draw large, than feel free to!

>_> I was thinking of making some random dragon-y Jracini or something, since they're easy to do and I enjoy drawing them. They don't have to be firelizards/flits/dragonflies or anything specific. XD

I'd be interested in something like this. Actually, I have been thinking about it recently because, lord knows, I've got enough random dragon pictures floating around. XD

I'd go for this -- though now that Econ is over with I think I can get involved more again. But I do draw a lot of random things in class, and it would be interesting to color/hand them out.

Actually, I'm working on a species right now that may be available to start with, if people are interested. Due to the nature of the species, they don't bond the way that other dragons do.

I was also thinking that instead of the size of the image, perhaps the complexity of the coloring can be taken into account with these points?

The points and how you dole them out are completely up to you, I think. X3

As for me, I'm planning on doing some more random/wild Jracini after I get the breedings/altars done. Does anybody have suggestions for traits/elements/colours/treats they'd like to see? I'll be using these randoms specifically for point-purposes, and each one will equal one point. Each one that's used for breeding and altar-ing purposes will receive two points (one for sending in a form, one for the offspring/object given out) and once I'm back into internet-doings, people can trade in their points for a semi-custom/custom Jracini, possibly of a bigger size, or something else special. :D Whee!

Sounds good. I'll have to think about what I can do as well. Currently, most of my stuff is going to be randoms drawn/colored in my infrequent free moments, and you've all seen how I have a tendency to get complicated...

*snerk* Well, I'll see what comes of this. *nods*
