Question about paging (forums/blogs?)

Post by Guest »

I've noticed that a lot of agencies say they want websites specifically -- no message boards or whatever are accepted. Why is this? I can see why a message board wouldn't be as nice as a page, but what about something like LiveJournal?

Probably because it would be difficult(er) to access individual entries. And people have used forums as sites before, a lot of people don't like it but it has been done. Shiolar's original pages were all on a forum, and Boo, who seems to have disappeared, did the same.

Generally it's security issues and who has access to the site. The main hullaballoo was with Shiolar and his sites, but I don't knowof any one now who uses a forum instead of a site.

Navigation can be a pain, too. XD I'd rather see a formatted page of links instead of going forum and sub-forum searching. Another problem is that some sites require a password to access--though that hasn't been a problem in the past.

I do. I had someone apply for one of my Aun Atti with a forum-site. I didn't specify in my rules because I didn't think it'd happen. But I believe she left something else I asked for. Maybe I need to go back through the rules.

I, personally, have always wanted to run a livejournal version of candidates, mostly because of convenience on my part; but I rather thought everyone would murder me with sporks, so never have. =D

I don't think it'd be any different, other than the set up. I know I can upload pictures and use them in my posts (But I'm not sure if that's paid or not). Whether or not you can, however, is more based on what the person in charge of the agency prefers.

I just recieved one from a forum site as well - I also forgot to put it in the rules, as I don't especially care for them. I think I need to amend my rules again soon. I have no idea who the person is, as I don't recognize the name from the forum

I got one too, from somebody calling herself Rachael--not the one we already have, of course.

I deleted it just because she didn't provide linkback. I don't *like* forums, but I'll accept them if they meet all the other criteria.

i don't really see whats wrong with forums. i like them :) But I'm weird that way. Also everyone hated it when Shiolar did it but nobody cared when Boo did it which is strange.

Phe, that's the same person I got one from. I looked through the whole forum she had, and there was only one character. I wonder if she sent the same one to multiple places

Same here. And she didn't provide a link back, which I know I put in my rules. I shall need to redo my rules and be more sneaky about it. I know she read my rules, but I guess she didn't fully read them! I wonder if we all got the same page, too....

Same here, only I couldn't access the forum at all. I tried mulpiple ways of retyping the URL looking for a typo but nothing worked. Was the character's name Layla?

Hmm, what URL did she send you because I can't access to forum at all. It gives me a 404 thing.

This is the one she gave me,

http://z6.invisionfree.com/Shesatshomeo ... howtopic=4

and I just looked back at it. She did not specify any name of where she was going, in or out of the story

Aaaayup, Layla. Looks like she flunks everybody's "cannot be standing somewhere else" rule! (That's a pretty standard one, innit?)

Heh. I wanted at least a stat table and a link back, neither of which she provided.

I just got done reading the story and it's actually rather well writen. I'm looking at the board and she's got a nice conglomerate of critters. But yeah. She's pretty much trying to stand four places at once. :\

GreatestJournal all the way! :D Tons of icons too. -hugs gj-
And I think that would be cool-- forums, too. But I can appreciate almost any form of doing things.

Interesting problem, guys~ I seem to have been spared, possibly becuase I don't update my main webbie.. -should do that-

I don't think I'd have a problem with it either, but, in this case, seemingly ignored parts of other rules.

Oooh, I have a GJ, and that would be an excellent site for candidates, oh yes it would, up to 2000. Damn now I love this idea. Obviously a post at the top which linked to everything within, hmm... Ponderponderponder.

I DEMAND A RENAME. Token. For this Rachael person. And her Layla. Because.... I... am saddened by her lack of regard?

You are the original, though! It wouldn't be the same if you had a different name~!

her name was spelled differently than yours - I noticed that immediately: no a in the end - Rachel is how she spelled it in her form

Awh, thank you both. XD I'm being silly; Rachel is a popular name, with countless variations. (Like my own; Thanks, parents. 8'D)

Try being Jessica - I knew at least 5 other girls in my classes with the same first name; and half of them had the same middle name!
