Vector-based dragons

Post by Dray »

I'm wondering if anybody would be interested in dragons drawn and coloured using vectors, possibly saved as a png? They're rather less realistic than those coloured (and inked) using other media, but I've been wanting to experiment with Adobe Illustrator now that I've gotten the hang of it.

(For examples of Illustrator-style work:

And... yeah. XD There are better examples out there, but those are the two that I've actually done, myself.)

Would anybody be interested in this style, considering the pull towards 'natural' looking shading and colourations that the Nexus has been taking?

ooh, sexy. XP And yesm i'd definately be interested. :3 I like doing my dragons with pseudorealistic shading, but that doesn't mean i like recieving only those sorts of dragons.

:3 would you still be shading draggies too, the way you used to? or only vectors. either way, i'm for it.

Feh, style. Who cares about style, long as it's spiffy-lookin? X3 I'd be curious.

Shading would be vector-style, not the photoshop-way.

Also, for anybody interested in learning different ways of inking, I found a pretty cool tutorial recently!

X3 It makes for some really nice, smooth lines, if you can learn to manipulate the pen tool (which I just about spelled 'tule'. XD My brain is so fried.)

You know...just because you use Illustrator to color doesn't mean they can't have blended shading... >.>

You just have to master gradient meshes...

Like this!

I used to use Photoshop's pen tool...until I learned how to hand-ink things without going crazy. X3 I learn backwards!

We haven't gotten to gradient meshes yet, though I hear that they're fairly complicated.

Besides, I have fun with the chunks-o-colour style of shading!

As for Nessie's question, I'd probably do both? XD Depending on what I feel like, I guess. I keep getting bored of shading in photoshop because it feels very tedious; or else I whizz through it and it doesn't end up looking as good as it could. I'm just feeling around for different styles, I guess.
